1 starThis message would be a 0 star if it was available. My wife and I went under contract 2022 April. We met with Sales person *******************. A charming fellow at first. Laughs ON Cue. Well put together ETC. My wife and I put down our ******* money deposit on the new build and were ready for our new marriage to begin in our newly built house. Take pictures every Friday night as the process was underway. Then they poured the slab. I am looking at the slab mind you I am not a contractor but I am looking at the slab and it does not look anything like we had signed up for.Back to *******************. When we first consulted with him we told him that we wanted the house BUILT EXACTLY LIKE THE MODEL. He calls my wife whom he has never called before and advises her that there is a problem. On the ground breaking of the house they had NONE OF THE INFORMATION CORRECT ON THE HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!! The day of the walk through was set for the year ****. The address was incorect. The items that we wanted ie a porch in the front yard and a double sided patio were omitted. Although in our paperwork that we have shows that we circleed and initialed what we wanted! We decided that because of this obvious mess up that we would walk away from the contract on ************** Dr in ****************. I received a call from *********************** MANAGER TELLING ** THAT WE WERE IN THE WRONG.In looking to go to litigation with them everything is in FAVOR OF THE CONTRACTOR. BUYER BEWARE. THEY MESSED UP AND DECIDED TO KEEP OUR ******* MONEY I FOUND OUT IN OCTOBER OF 2022 THAT I HAD STAGE 5 KIDNEY FAILURE. And have since received a kidney transplant! I AM WRITING THIS NOTE SO THAT IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BIY A HOME FROM THIS BUILDER BUYER BEWARE...Review fromDennis D

1 starThey should not be building houses! I would give minus 5 stars if I could. There had to be at least 30 things wrong with this house. We Had 4 superintendents. 4 different ***************. There is a reason why they cant keep employees. They lied to us repeatedly and then ghost you. You wait and they dont show up. No call nothing. I knew they were bad from the reviews but I bought during Covid and couldnt find anything else to buy, *****************Review fromJay B

1 starPeople are not lying they say this is a horrible company! From beginning to end they lied, & deflected from taking any kind of responsibility for their actions. For 2 whole months, essentially nothing was done to the home. When confronted about why there was not action, sales, construction & lending all blamed one another, insinuating that they were innocent & did their absolute best. While the homes make look nice, nothing about working with this company, especially as a first time homebuyer is nothing short of an absolute nightmare. All heard was a ton of excuses on top of more & more lies when talking to anyone & then they just suddenly stop talking to you. It is clear that issues that I've had isn't an isolated issue, it's standard practice & how they do business.Review fromKelly H

1 starRichmond American Homes built our home. I am disappointed due to the quality of their workmanship and the lack of holding their subcontractors accountable for the damage that they inflict on other parts of the home as they perform their particular trade. The punch list was about 42 items long when we inspected our home just prior to taking possession. We have submitted about 11 items for repair through the home warranty. The following are just a few examples of the workmanship and damage issues. We have two cracks in our basement floor that are 1/4 inch wide because they didn't install re-bar prior to pouring the concrete and possibly didn't compact the soil properly. One crack is 11 yard long and the other is 7 yards long. The driveway concrete is higher than the garage floor concrete and so we have water that pools in the garage. We have a concrete pad that is pulling away from our house at the rear door of the garage because the soil wasn't compacted prior to pouring the concrete. We had concrete that was splattered against the exterior wall of our entryway by our front door that they have subsequently removed. After re-routing a water pipe in our basement, concrete was poured in a 1' by 2' hole and later that same day another tradesman walked over it leaving deep footprints in the wet concrete. We have concrete splattered against our rear fence that they subsequently power washed off and still have concrete splattered on a door threshold and on the inside of our window *****. We have removed 150 gallons of pea gravel, large gravel, and concrete that was distributed throughout our yard so that we can plant grass and a garden.Review fromJennifer J

1 starDo not purchase a home from Richmond American Homes. I purchased my home in January of 2018. The 2 year structural warranty is criminal. ** June of **************************************************** roof leaks and water intrusion damages. I left several messages with "customer service" and they never responded to my requests. Then when my attorney sent them a letter they wrote that they were never given a chance to fix anything. There was over $5000 in damages. We determined it was too expensive to litigate. This past month we had heavy rain in ******** and discovered an issue with the siding. I am waiting to get an estimate and I'm concerned it will be very costly. I have pictures of all of the accumulated damages attached.Review fromMichael A

1 starImagine being pulled into the middle of a dysfunctional family. That is what it is like to be buyer of a Richmond American Home. We contracted our home to be built in May 2022. The home was already applied for a permit from the county. We were then lead on a very difficult process of poor information, no information, finger-pointing, etc. for the next 6-months. We didn't know when we would be able to move into our home until approximately 2-weeks before. Since then we have been dealing with unfinished and poorly installed features in our home. We were so rushed into closing that RA didn't even have a crew properly and completely clean the home prior to move-in. We have 3 windows that do not match the other windows that we raised to the ******* in our pre-drywall walk-through. Here we are a 6-months post closing and the windows have not yet been replaced. The warranty supervisor we are dealing with is uninterested or incapable of sending the right people with the right instructions on what items we still have on our punch list. While I love the design of our home (mostly because of the features we picked out, not the builder), the hassle of having to ride the builder to complete the job has largely robbed us of fully enjoying our new home. If we had sought these reviews in advance we would have gone another route in purchasing our new home. We regret doing business with RA and will tell everyone that will listen to ** to never buy from them or really any big national builder since they all seem to have the same level of incompetence and lack of care for the buyer.Review fromDenise D

1 starWe moved into our Richmond American home 2 and a half weeks ago. We've spent additional thousands to upgrade a brand new home. How does that make sense. We have several issues, but we're told "you'll have to get that" which means we have to buy whatever it is and spend even more than the nearly half a million we paid for the house, and just to add insult to injury, we have to pay someone to do the work. Ridiculous. Our broken cabinet was scheduled to be replaced 2 times, but of course the guy never showed up either time, but the ******* is working on it. Whatever that means - it actually means more runaround and BS.When we look out any window we see dirt or you see right into the neighbor's window. We were under the impression that there would be stone on the exterior, but that would be an additional 2 to 3 thousand dollars. No shutters either, but I'm sure we could buy them and pay someone to install them. This place has turned into a money pit. I wish I could afford an attorney, I'd love to go after these people. The realtor gave ** a line of bull every time we spoke, and the building *******, who was great on day one, is now full of c*** too. Big promises, no delivery. We were promised the moon when sitting down to discuss the purchase, but ever since we plunked our money down, we've gotten nothing but bullcrap. I have so much buyer's remorse, I can't sleep and I can't even believe they are still in business judging from the reviews I am reading here. Don't buy a Richmond American home - save yourself the great big headaches that come along with it.Review fromJayme M

2 starsThis is a review for a new build in ******. The salesperson was great. The construction supervisor as well as the warranty specialist were quite useful. However, the general quality of the product was lackluster. It appears that the cabinet company and ********************** lacked good, detailed work.First, the cabinet company had new cabinets that were not straight, messed up the handles quite badly, came in to fix the handles and damaged the wood further, and they didn't fix the problem and have to come a second time. I worry once again that the cabinets will get damaged.Second, I asked the warranty specialist about a seam in the bathroom countertop. I didn't have a seam in the 86" long countertop in the kitchen, but I did have a seam in the 89" long countertop in the master bathroom. I decided to ask about this, and the warranty specialist got back to me quite quickly. However, the conversation went like this (abbreviated due to space):"The countertop in the master bath was longer than the material yield so there needed to be a seam...""I did find it very strange that the 86" countertop for the kitchen island is in a single piece while the 89" countertop in the bathroom was too long. Do you mind checking what the max ****** for that countertop is?""There is no max ******. Seam placement is at the discretion of [company]. Our guys do their very best to make sure that the layout looks as good as possible. We may put a seam in because of slab yield, accessibility, weight, I would assume that when laying this out it was a matter of either the island had a seam or the bathroom had a seam and they put it in the most inconspicuous location which is through the sink for the best option as opposed to a seam straight through the kitchen island."My quite critical follow up was met with a generic "here's the warranty guidelines" email, and when I asked for a place I could review Richmond, it was left unanswered for longer than I had seen the contact respond.
