1 starThis month for 5 days I wasn't able to use my landline and modem services. Currently, they're disrespectful, fill out fake tickets, and act like customers don't matter. One representative that said she'd fill in a repair ticket, but lied because she didn't, was ********************* on Monday, October 3rd during 5:23 pm and later, I have screenshots of part of that chat along with the next representative that lied that evening, **************, he was even worse because he gave me a fake ticket number for support. My landline and wifi was down so I couldn't even call 911 if I needed to with my weak heart, it's a necessity to have my landline where I live because I can't use cell service in my area without driving out. It was gone 5 days. Centurylink needs to do better, I qualify for free wifi from other ISO's. My service was out 2 weeks last month. I was told that I would be credited last month for the days I couldn't use it, but now this month I wasn't given a credit. . I had to keep buying gas to go to public wifi spots just to chat with the agents that lied to me, and to check for repair tickets that they didn't even file. I had to buy gas to go to an area a borrowed cell phone would pick up signal just to call Centurylink. The first time I called that day I was hung up on. The second time the woman that answered actually did what she said she was going to do.Review fromWilliam B

1 starCentury Link has caused my business, **************************, no end of problems due to their poor business practices and almost lackadaisical approach to dealing with them. We have had poor to no internet service for nearly a year now. We report the issues over and over again and still nothing improves or changes. We only get half of the internet speed we pay for and are told "deal with it" or "that's the best you can have". The customer service people, when you can get one on the phone or online, say there is nothing they can do about it and blame the distance from their office to our location, approximately ***** feet away, on why the "service compression" is so bad. Whatever that means. The internet situation is so bad that the line to my business had to be replaced. Then Century Link forgot to hook it up to the building for two weeks. Even as I type this out my internet is going off and on forcing me to retype parts of this review over and over again. Now Century Link seeks to steal $562.38 from our account. We made every payment by check. We had records of every payment. We sent Century Link copies of the canceled checks made out to them where each check was paid through their bank. Yet they still claim they have no record of the payments. Now Century Link is claiming they are using some sort of "advocacy group" to "look into the matter" and still they refuse to acknowledge the payments were made. We had to pay the $562.38 twice to keep what passes for internet on so we can run our business. Century Link has criminal business practices. They steal from their customers and treat them terribly. We have been as patient as possible in dealing with all of this while Century Link has double talked us. Century Link is by far the worst. Do not deal with them for any reason. You would be better off with two tin cans and a string for service and reliability.Review fromJeff L

1 starIs there way of contacting someone at Lumen to get a complaint actually heard? We have our internet upgraded to fiber in July, Took one full week to get done, in the meantime, our existing copper internet was pulled from us...twice! Then a month later internet drops, tech can't get out for a week. When they do get out they found some other tech pulled the wire in the junction box, thinking it was not in use - that was the while problem. No pro rata refund given. The a month later , our old copper landline shows up on our bill (the one that was removed in July). Might take a week to correct the billing issue, support said they would call me back, never did. Recalled support and talked to THE WORST customer service agent! First he said, yep you have a landline, I told him no, it was removed. Well, it's on the bill - and I said, yeah, that's why I'm calling again. Asked if there were any notes about the previous call, he said yes, they are going to remove the charges on 10/11. I asked what do I pay for the current bill then. He said, just pay what it says and they will pro rate the charges, We differed on what pro rata means and he hung up on me. How does this company stay in business? Are they just that big and pervasive? To be fair, I have worked with a couple of good customer service people and a good tech but the norm is the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing.Review fromMichele C

1 starTried to help elderly parents dealing with loud humming noise on their landlines. Three ************, 3 chats, several phone calls, repeated disconnects from "support" people, lost repair tickets, and still no technician. My father has been practically homebound waiting for his technician. I have to go listen to their voice mails and decode them to make sure they don't miss doctor ************ and prescriptions that have come in because the noise interferes so much with the message. I fear if they need to make any emergency calls because they may not be heard or hear the people on the other end. This company is disgusting! Noone cares. It breaks my heart to see my parents upset all the time. They have been loyal customers for 14 years, and this is the service they get.Review fromJason H

1 star14 months ago they 'upgraded' us to their fastest speed. We have had nothing but problems, been paying double the bill for the 'faster' service - and then we found out they never upgraded, have billed us over $500 in difference, and their response... we can offer you a $20 credit for the inconvenience. Bottom. of. the. barrel.Review fromHolly B

1 starThe worse customer service Ive ever experienced. First problem is you have to find a repair number on their site to call them (good luck) Second problem, is when you do call, youre on hold for an hour to 2 hours Third, the representative has only a basis understanding of the English language Next, they will accidentally disconnected you from the repair call or put you on hold again, for another 1/2 hour to hour. (Their goal is for you to give up) Lastly, no real help at all, a repair ticket with possible date of a week to one month away. Then no one shows up on that date. So you have to start the whole process over again. Sadly this has happened to me many times over the last 3 years. Its obvious their goal is to avoid giving support to existing customers. They already have their money but call & pretend youre a new customer & then you get helped. ********************** set the standard of what poor customer service looks like. A complete failure.Review fromMaria B

1 starZero stars! Cancelled service on 9/21; spent almost a half hour arguing with *********** who seemed unwilling to let me cancel. Auto billed ****** for next month on 9/22. Called to get full credit. Informed I NEVER cancelled service. After a bit more research they conceded that I did "TRY" to cancel, but because there was a malfunction in their system, they were unable to process cancellation. ******* said cancellation would be effective today, and they would refund a prorated ***** credit. WHAT? If other carriers are available, you might want to consider them. Hope they go out of business.Review fromIAM L

1 starThis is the worst business in the history of business, and that is not an exaggeration! It has been 15 months since I attempted to establish a small business account for their ***************** The services were never connected to where the modem was to be installed. Never. After 3 plus months of frustration, phone calls, on-site visits from their installers and data technicians, a repair ticket supervisor that said she would close any further tickets I would created without any action on their part, the only option was to cancel and get a refund of the deposit. You would think that would be easy, but no. The story gets worse. Every time I called their customer service, they agreed that service was never connected, they would close the account and refund my $50 deposit. Yet, the bills kept coming. I would call, they would say the problem was on their end and they would submit an IT ticket and I would get a call. No one ever called, not once. Sometimes the balances would go up, sometimes they would go down. Why would anyone pay for a service they never received? After what is probably around two dozen calls and 50 or so hours on the phone, I gave up. There was nothing more I could do. I tried everything within my power to fix this, It's a problem on Centurylink's end. Now 15 months after this h*** began, I get a call from a bill collector. That's right, through absolutely no fault of my own, Centurylink has turned my account, their problem, over to a bill collector. It's crazy, but it's true. So now what. Yep, more calls, more hours telling every single person I get transferred to the same story, and after countless times being hung up on, transferred, or promised a supervisor would call me back, nothing. No help. As I write this I see on BBB.com this business is not accredited, has an average rating of 1.04/5 and has been in business for 54 years. This business needs to be broken up and downsized to a more manageable size. They can't fix their own problems. Too Big
