Extremely disrespectful, outrageous and unethical business practices. The company put a stop payment on my retirement check without any communication or explanation. I have spoken with a dozen customer service associates, spending at least 20 hours on calls and being put on hold, been hung up on twice and still no resolution or new check. It is impossible to reach senior management.

Dont worry, Empower said, when they bought our financial firm in the fall of 2022. They lied. Its been nothing but problems. January and February **** have become a part-time job, hours a day, almost every day each week, trying to manage and get our money. **************** is incompetent and they dont care. We are in contact with our former employer to move the retirement funds to a better managed company.

Empower sent me a check to reimburse an overpayment on my loan. The check arrived timely, I deposited it, and it BOUNCED! I called them and after speaking to several representatives they indicated that the check was stopped on their end due to an error. They stated they had issued a new check and it should arrive in the next day or two. They acted like it was no big deal, however my back charged me for the return and the money was removed from my account. I had counted on that money to pay bills not realizing that a check from a retirement company could possibly bounce. This had the potential to be a financial nightmare for me had my checks written based on the deposit also bounced. I wish I could give them no stars.

This company needs to be investigated by the SEC and probably the *** and **** I have spoken to seven different "service" people and since Jan, 26, Still have not received the disbursement of my 401k. First they said they would send a check and I would receive it by Feb. 14. Feb 15th they said they would be happy to make a direct deposit at no charge and it would be Feb.22. My bank received no notice of a pending deposit. this time they declared that it would actually arrive by the 29th because they were still working on it. I was also told that the person I spoke with on the 15 would have told me the 29th as the date, in effect calling me a liar! I was told that I would get a call back within 4 hours and they still have 45 minutes, but I won't hold my breath. Can anything be done to make them deal honestly? One star because they won't let rate lower, but so far, they don't rate any.

They transferred from ********** to Empower and Empower has lost 6mnts of my recent quarterly statementss data...this has caused me to lose the home I was purchasing. I am in the process of liquidating my account, I wouldn't do business with this company even if your employer uses them. You will be screqed, check out the other reviews. Allllll 1 star

These guys are the worst retirement company I have ever worked with! First in September 2023 they force closed my $800 retirement account and sent me a $600 check with all the taxes taken out without warning me this type of thing would happen. All they said was that I needed to contact them soon which I was trying to find time to do. If I knew this would've happened, I would've contacted sooner! Also, if you're going to force a retirement payout to someone, it should be done as a rollover. Now not only is it no longer retirement money, I had to pay hefty taxes on it being younger than retirement age. I called to complain, but they said, "too late." It was against my will!Secondly, these guys have no idea what is going on with their clients, at least their call center doesn't. It also takes forever to get them to pick up, like ***** minutes! Who has time for that while they're at work? They're not open on the weekends. I thought someone drained my account to $0 and stole my money or they were forcing another payout of my main $22K retirement account. Turns out ********** is transferring my money to them. The thing is they've had ownership of this account since April 1, 2022. So why 2 year later do something like this? Makes no sense. Also, having this account, why didn't they put my $800 there? Idiots!!

Zero integrity. The employees lie, the processors dont work, theres no effective communication whatsoever. The call back system hangs up on you, the wait times are 30min plus just to speak to under qualified individuals. Out of about ***** phone calls, we spoke to 2 individuals that actually helped. Another corporate company with lack of humanity.

These people are nothing but thieves. Why they allow auto enrollment then have to go their websites to create accounts to tell them to decline their services. All this after they have removed money from my payroll. Then I have to fight with them for 3 years to try to get that account closed and get my money back only to be told that "after taxes and fees there won't be any money left, so you wont get anything". How are companies like this actually allowed to be in business. There is no reason this should have been a fight to begin with, No you can't have my money and NO I will not give you my personal information. Thieves nothing but thieves. I wish I could leave negative stars on this.

The worst company Ive ever dealt with, refused me a hardship loan with a qualifying reason as a reflected active employee because I said *** left the company and said I would have to call back in 4 weeks. This is after calling to speak to someone multiple times waited 30 mins then forwarded to a survey, also called the supervisor line while leaving a message it told me thank you and hung up on me after 30 seconds, completely ****. If I could give 0 zeros I would. Did a name change from my maiden name to my new married name and filled out a form for name change request on my account and oh my goodness the lack of training and competency shows l. I provided every document that was requested especially my notarized and sealed marriage certificate and they were fighting me back on why they can't change my name when it clearly shows on my new Driver's license and marriage certificate. Now when ai got married I didn't get a chance to choose my new married name and had to change it later on with social security and DMV and went through the process to ensure my name is legally changed. Yet this retirement company is still giving me a hard time to change my name on my account my previous employer used. It has been 3 months to try to get this simple request done. I've spoken to multiple representatives and even the supervisor to pretty much tell them I am the account holder that has changed their own maiden two last names to a new married last name. It's not difficult to understand and process and it just seems their policy is not well managed and written. It feels endless and no hope for me. Also don't feel safe trusting them with my business and need to get this name change done so I can go with a new retirement company that can take care of my needs and is well in their operations.
