      This company is horrible, I can no longer count how many times I have spoken to a rep and was told different information each time regarding my withdrawal. Even when you comply and submit forms right away and even wait the time period, things still doesn't happen the way ******* explained they would. I have been transferred to several departments. I even spoke with a "supervisor " that still act as if they cannot assist you. This company need to do better. I am utterly digusted with the service I cannot wait to receive my payment and be completely done with Empower. In the future if my employer uses this company I will most certainly move my money elsewhere.

      I typically do not even write reviews. But I am a bit irritated. I requested a hardship withdraw on a Weds. Thursday, I receive an email hey give us a call. I call them, they ask me for information that was missing. That was it, they'll keep me posted. I call a few business days later to check my status, oh well you need to re submit the documents with the correct information. Okay fine, I call back to see if I need to submit everything or just that one particular paper. Now it's, I need to submit supporting documents as well.. All that is fine, but I've could've been told this the day I spoke on the phone THURSDAY! Not to mention I was locked out for no apparent reason prior to trying to submit it. Just utterly ridiculous. I do not fault the last 2 representatives I spoke with, as they were just doing their jobs. Keep in mind Thursday, I could've been told all of this.

      I called Empower to close my 401k in December, (allowing 5-7 business days) and here it is the 11 of January, and nothing, been back and forth calling for the last several hours, only to ultimately be told we dont have your money (5th associate I talked to). Two associates prior informed me the money was wired to an account in *********** ********* (I live in ******** and use a different bank). I received different information from each and every one of the five different associates I spoke with, two of which were clearly outsourced over seas, judging by the ****** thick accents that made it next to impossible to understand. This company is extremely unprofessional, and should not be in charge of flipping burgers, let alone handling large sums of other peoples money. I was on hold for forty minutes until the call dropped (probably watching the clock tick until closing time).

      If I could give zero stars I would. They've waisted a good part of my day. I am locked out of my online account for no reason whatsoever. After being on hold for along time, the phone reps gave me the run around transferring me. Then after giving me a temporary password it proceeded to another security pin screen witch would lock up and not work. After trying for a half day I gave up, and tried to call again. After a along time on hold I finally gave up. This company is the worst I've ever dealt with, and I will be taking my money out as soon as I can figure out how to get though to this inept companies BS. They shouldn't be allowed to be in business.***********************

      Empower has problems. You could call and wait an hour, then when you reach a representative the call is dropped. When you get through, the line is not often clear. The representatives are probably on the other side of the world. Then there are fees. Annual fees. Fees for withdrawing money, even if **************** and overhead already subtracted from the funds in which you are invested. Their guaranteed fund pays a very low interest rate although the prime is rising. When I called to ask about the new interest rate on the guaranteed fund--I momentarily had the crazy idea I would stick with Empower--, which is adjusted twice a year, I got the answer everyone hates to hear from customer *******, "I don't know." If you ask to speak to a supervisor who may have wider knowledge than the representative, good luck! The rep can't connect you. If you want to email Empower, you can't easily find an email address to which to send a question. I understand Empower's shortcomings because I have a baseline against which I can compare Empower. That baseline is my experience with F____. If you call, you get easily through to a rep. ******** ******* is good. The lines are clear; you can hear what the representative at the other end is saying. Calls are not dropped. If you want to know the interest rate on a conservative money market fund, F---'s FDIC checking offering, or their CDs, it is a call away. And you don't have to wait long to get an answer to your question. If a rep doesn't know an answer, he calls a supervisor or someone in another department to check. And F___ doesn't **** you with ****el-and-dime fees the way Empower does. I don't want to do business with Empower.

      Got involved with this through the ************** and once I saw how poorly they were investing my money I opted out of contributing. When unforeseen medical hardship hit myself and my family I requested to pull the money I had (only about $3000) to help alleviate medical bills and being out of work I was given the runaround and denied, I had heart surgery last month and am about ti lose my house yet my hardship wasnt hard enough to satisfy empower. I tell all nee employees not to get involved and just invest yourself. That ***** would have helped my family a lot especially during the holidays. These people dont care all they see you as is a **** to make money off of your money. I cant wait to cut ties with these thieves

      Thats the same generic response I received months ago and nothing was done about it then, that being said I am not optimistic about this getting resolved in a timely fashion, as I stated earlier I highly advise against getting involved with empower, you are just a number , zero support and no call backs or sense of urgency because its not their money.

      I give them 1.0 for three reasons:1. I asked for a rollover on 12/23 at the same time as I saw how much money was in the account, when I check what they call memberview I see like 1.5% deducted, for what? The market fluctuations do not explain that reduction. In addition, in their general rollover instructions, they do not state they will deduct any commission and the money in fact is still not transferred (see item 2).2. The money hasn't reached the destination yet. It's sent by regular mail according to the email I received on 12/29. They stated they ask for approval from previous employer and it takes 3-5 business days. This is ridiculous as I'm over retirement age and I have not contributed to this 401k the last 3 years. When I check their site on line, I see the transfer is still pending!3. I initiated a rollover, following their instructions, to an *** at a retirement provider where I'm still contributing to my retirement (still working), they deducted the *** portion, which I did not ask for.So, in summary, it seems all these 401k management companies feel offended when you rollover your money out of their possession and they try to take revenge on you. Keep fighting them by calling them daily (the emails don't help - Noreply - and regular mail will take ages).

      Login stopped working. Could not verify my account online. **************** referred me to online account verification. Finally the customer service rep told me to call the ********************** from which Empower took over and have them help with login info.

      Waiting for *** funds via direct deposit. They had the routing and checking account information, which had been FAX to them. One of the *** checks had been deposited to my checking account. The other check was, "mailed on the 21st" of December, as of 28 December 2022 have not received. Empower had the routing and account number and for whatever reason MAILED a check. As of this comment, there are 95 one star reviews out of only 98. ********** sold out ** retirement accounts to empower. Now I have a problem with *********** I don't need a response from empower.
