1 starWhen I contacted AMR, to contest their bill (6 years ago/2017), AMR advised me; I was responsible for the co-payment of approx. $198 (20%). I was treated rudely and with total disrespect. They completely ignored my legitimate and legal questions/issues regarding their false/fraudulent billing procedures! When I advised them, they were paid ($991), far more than enough by my insurance carrier. All for a non-emergency, transportation only call, a 4 minute, 1.3 mile ride to the *****************, in a clearly stated; non-emergency situation. When I clearly pointed out the fraud they were committing, they rudely told me; they could charge me whatever they wanted and that they would go after my credit if I did not pay them. This was clearly extortion!I advised AMR, they was no way, would I be extorted under any circumstances. I advised them, I was disabled and on Social Security with a fixed meager income. This apparently changed their attitude slightly. I was told if I sent proof, I was on SS disability they would forgive the $198 they claimed I still owed!I sent them the paperwork and thought the case was closed, 6 years ago. Imagine my surprise when I recently received a later from ***************** Services: Account # ******** stating; I now owed $773 on a closed case from 2017. Especially, after I had sent the requested paperwork. And had not heard anything from AMR in 6 years and being, assured by AMR, the case was now closed. Upon receiving the recent letter from ***************** Service, regarding the now, 6 year-old AMR closed case, I was told they opened my case on 1/24/23 (6 six years later). I spoke to ******* Financial Services, I was also treated rudely and with disdain by *********************** (M-4), as if, I were some ***, who didnt pay my bills. Note: Prior to this is, I had an 830 FICO credit rating. I have always paid what I owed., Yet, I will never pay what I do not owe! Note: Experian investigated & deleted... Totally dishonest company.STAY AWAY IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!!I was forced to take an ambulance transfer from ********** ** to ****** **. in Oct 2022.AMR DEMANDED PAMENT UP FRONT OF OVER $ 1,800.00.The customer rep advised that they did not work with my medical insurance carrier. I paid the upfront costs, took the transfer ride, and submitted their invoice to my insurance carrier, only to be advised by them that AMR would need to bill them directly for them to cover the bill.I then called AMR and advised, and they misbilled the insurance carrier, who denied the claim. Fast forward to February 2023, after numerous conferences calls with both parties, my insurance carrier paid the claim out to AMR, and advised them at this time to refund any overage payment to myself. An insurance representative was told by an AMR Supervisor that the file was forwarded to "Refund review", and that I should receive it refund in approximately 4 to 6 weeks.I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE OR REFUND FROM AMR AND IT'S NOW THE MIDDLE OF MAY.I SUPPOSE I WILL HAVE TO CONTACT THE ******** ATTORNEY GENERAL, AND HIRE A LAWYER.American Medical Response Inc

Our records indicate the refund indicated has been issued to the address on file as of May 22, 2023. We would like to thank the consumer for bringing the concerns to our attention and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I do not know if they are mismanaged or if they intentionally mislead when it comes to their billing practices. My insurance paid them and a year later they are billing me for an additional $1500.00 I spoke with insurance and AMR was paid the contractioned rate and that I may owe an additional $250.00 I called AMR and he said it would go to collections if I didn't set up a payment plan right then. I explained that I was willing to pay the co-pay but not the full amount. He was not helpful and told me they do not take the contracted rate and that I owe them. They have no accountability and there is no choice on what ambulance gets sent in an emergency!American Medical Response Inc

By far the worst company I've ever worked with. Will not listen to my insurance company or myself. They say that they're going to put my bill on hold while my insurance company looks at the bill and they say they're going to send my insurance company the documentation that they need, however they do not forward the information to my insurance company and they do not put my bill on hold. I ended up paying the bill because they're threatening me to turn me into ***************** however they did say that they would work with us and getting the documentation to the insurance company. Horrible horrible horrible customer ********************** build immediately when I'm still in the hospital and won't work with the insurance company. They keep saying that your insurance company is going to pay me which is not true my insurance company will not paying me they were only pay them directly. My insurance company and I had paid a total of over $1000 of the $1200 bill and we were fighting over the last $200 because they would not get the correct documentation to my insurance company. I will definitely drive myself to the hospital next time because I am not using this company again. We need some competition in our town so we don't have to use this horrible ambulance service. Actually the service to the hospital was fine but it's just trying to work with them with insurance. My insurance company has been in contact with them five times and they keep telling them they put my bill on hold but they have not. So they just got my money without me even getting to work with my insurance company because they're so pathetic. Do not use if you have an option. I would give you zero stars if it was availableAmerican Medical Response Inc

AMR has reviewed the consumers concerns. The consumers insurance carrier is not contracted with AMR in this area. As a result, the amount not paid by insurance becomes patient responsibility. At this time, our office is actively working on satisfying the insurance carrier's request.
We would like to thank the consumer for bringing the concerns to our attention and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I recently had a medical emergency and called 911. The dispatcher sent a ambulance from American Medical Response to my address. The EMT'S and service I received was great!A few weeks later I received a bill from my insurance company explaining what my portion of the medical bill I was responsible for. After paying my portion, I received the bill from American Medical Response stating that I had an outstanding balance. I reached out to my insurer and was told that they had negotiated on my behalf with AMR, and the amount that I paid was all that I owed.My insurer reached out to AMR, and was told that they do not negotiate. So, now I have to pay the entire $2400 for a 6 mile ride that took approximately 15 minutes to the hospital. What's ridiculous about this entire situation is, when you reach out to 911, they don't ask you what insurance company you have, so you don't know if the ambulance service company is in your insurance network or not. It's an emergency it shouldn't matter. (All ambulance services should be in all insurance networks)I do not recommend this company.American Medical Response Inc

This response is total nonsense.
My insurance carrier acting on my behalf, contacted this company to negotiate a discount since they are not in the network, and was told they do not offer discounts.
I was told by my insurer to only pay a certain amount, but I keep getting harassed by this company to pay the full amount.
I'm not interested your 0% interest b.s. program. This company has so many complaints against them, and that alone speaks volumes to their integrity.Review fromShawanda C

On 2/10/23 my daughter was transferred from ************** to ******************** by ****************. A few weeks later I received a text message with a link to log into my **************** account. I went to the link which showed I had a bill due in the amount of $1392.99. The account showed my insurance information could not be found. There was an area where I could add my insurance information. I added my insurance information and the claim was submitted to my insurance. About a week later, I can see the ****************** was submitted to my insurance and that my new bill on my insurance EOB showed a balance of $222.88. I went back to the online **************** account to see if it showed a new balance owed, but it read "Hi, Parents of (name), You have no outstanding balance due at this time. Thank you for staying on top of your bills!". I thought that since the claim was finally submitted to my insurance, I would receive a bill in the mail. I NEVER received a bill from **************** in the mail. Not for the $1392.99 or the $222.88. What I did receive over this weekend (4/22/23) was a bill from **************************** in the amount of $222.88. Credence is a COLLECTION AGENCY! **************** sent my bill straight to COLLECTIONS!! NEVER ONCE sent me a bill in the mail!! It seems the **************** has a serious issue with their billing department that needs to be addressed.American Medical Response Inc

After careful review of the account, it has been determined that the above referenced trip defaulted to collections in error. As a result, the account has been cancelled with the collection agency and an invoice is forthcoming to the address on file. 1 starMy name is ********************* and American Medical Response is charging me for a service I never received. I called on May 18th, 2023 and I was told I was charged for a ride home. I called again today on May19th, 2023 and I was told it was for cleaning me up. Neither incident happened so now I will be pursuing a lawsuit. If a service was provided, wouldn't I have signed something? So now I am filing a lawsuit.Review fromTheresa H

1 starI suffered a severe fracture on 10/22/2022 that required an EMR transfer to our local ER. The *** carefully took my name, insurance information and social security card photo. A few weeks after surgery on 10/28/2022, I called EMRs billing company in ***** to see if they had whatever they needed to file an insurance claim. They could find no record of the transport. After a few months of trying to track this down, I get a call from a collection agent so call EMR again. The account was found but the name and address were incorrect and they had no insurance info. I provided it all again and m, after repeated attempts to correct misspelling, the rep said they would file a claim over the next 30 days. I called my insurance company today and no claim filed. I called EMR 3 times but got bad connections. On the 4th attempt, the rep finally found the account but - once again - my name was misspelled. He spent several minutes blaming me for not knowing how to spell my name!! Once again, he said that they are working to get the claim filed. Its now 6 months. I cannot believe this company is still in business!! Its nuts!Review fromMichael S

1 starMy issue like so many others is billing. My date of service in which I needed an ambulance because of my hip popping out of its socket was 1/10/2021. I heard nothing from them in regards to a bill as I noticed a $1435.92 claim was approved with my health insurance in April , 2021. Then just a month ago in 3/2023 (YES-2 YEARS AND 2 MONTHS LATER) I receive a bill for $1435.92 due immediately. I called my health insurance and they confirmed they paid 100% of that claim and that amount on 4/5/2021. So 2 things here- why did I get a bill 2+ years later flr a date of service back in 1/2021? And why was I getting a bill at all? I called them and told them that my insurance paid 100% of that claim to the *****. Gave them the check number and date that my insurance company gave me to tell them. They told me that Id have to call back in 2 weeks as they need to research this. Its all absurd and almost sounding illegal. They get paid the full $1435.92 from my insurance company then bill me 2+ years later stating they never got paid and want another $1435.92 from me due immediately. What the heck is going on with this company. I will be filing a claim myself now with the BBB as I will not stand for them to send this bill to collections as it has been paid per my insurance company with the check paperwork to back it up showing they were paid and it was cashed. This company has either an incompetent billing department or they have crooks working for them stealing money. Either case, I smell illegality in the air with AMR.
