I was the victim of a violent crime in downtown ******* on Thanksgiving Day in 2021. The ambulance crew was very professional and kind. I have no complaints about the actual service provided that day. My complaint is in regard to the company and their billing service. All costs for my care that day were supposed to have been paid by the crime victims fund of ****************. Despite multiple calls from me to AMR billing (outsourced overseas. you do not speak to anyone locally) and multiple payments made by the crime victims fund, AMR turned me in to collections this year 2024. Being victimized again by the ambulance company is abhorrent. When I have called AMR to get any sort of response to the bills they continued send me, I was always assured that the crime victims fund account was listed and that I had nothing to worry about. Clearly, that was not the case as I have been turned into collections as of September 2024. I have never in my life paid one bill late. I have never been turned into collections and my credit score has always been excellent. This is absolutely disgusting behavior on the part of AMR and they should be ashamed of themselves. I am also a nurse with over 20 years of experience and have worked with paramedics and **** throughout my career. I respect the emergency response system workers and the difficult job they do. However, I have zero respect for the business practices of ******************* sure my review means little to AMR executives and leaders. But, I am hoping that if enough people voice enough complaints, it will result in change to their business practices if not voluntarily, then by change in billing regulations on the federal and state levels.American Medical Response Inc

Our office reviewed the account, and it has been determined that AMR is contracted with the ************* carrier at the time of service. At this time, we have applied the appropriate adjustment and cancelled the account with the collection agency. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Should the consumer have further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact customer ********************** at **************.

1 starI have been trying for nearly three months to get an overpayment (as determined by AMRs Patient Advocate Team) refunded. There has been nothing but conflicting information, empty reassurances, and delay from customer ********************** agents via both phone and emailwhich seems to be outsourced to a group called Integra Connect. It is like shouting into a void. They have money in the account which was sent days prior to the determination that no money is due. It is in their records as an overpayment, yet despite being informed that this would naturally result in a refund, the account remains on hold for review. I have notified customer ********************** that they have 30 days to process the refund before I consult with a lawyer and likely initiate legal action. It is infuriating that after the stress and trauma of a medical emergency, there is this corporate, impersonal, no-way-to-do-anything runaroundwhen the basic, plain fact is that they are holding onto an overpayment to which they are not entitled. The paramedics and regional employees of AMR are wonderful, skilled, and caring people. Their corporation, or the corporation to which they have outsourced their customer ********************** and billing? Absolute nightmare.Review fromBrittany B

1 starIt has now been nearly three months since I started trying to get AMR to rebill my daughter's claim with the correct name and they still havent rebilled it. They always ask for an SSN. My health insurance company and I have both told them they dont need an SSN. They have already billed my insurance once without an SSN why would they need it now?I became aware of my daughters AMR bill when I received a claim denial notice because they didnt have the correct name for my daughter on the claim. When I called AMR, I explained to the representative the claim was denied because ***** first name was incorrect. The representative told me that there is no insurance information on file. I told them there is because my insurance had already been billed. Nevertheless I gave them the information. Between my health insurance company and I AMR has been provided with my daughters health insurance information five times between 5/31/24-8/21/24. Note they already had the insurance information because they billed my plan under the incorrect name on 4/30/24.5/31/24, I provided health insurance information via phone.6/14/24, I provided health insurance information via the billing portal.6/17/24, I provided health insurance information via phone. The confirmation number is ********. 7/2/24 My health insurance company called AMR and provided health insurance information via phone. 8/21/24 My health insurance company called AMR and provided medical insurance information via phone. The confirmation number is ********. I have wasted hours of my time trying to get them to rebill my insurance. Never in my life have I encountered this awful of a company to work with on billing. Im not even disputing the bill. I am trying to get them to rebill my insurance. I have also confirmed with my insurance that they are an in-network provider and balance billing is prohibited. All I want is for AMR to reprocess my claim so I can pay my $100 copay and move on with my life.Review fromPamela S

1 starAfter a double femur fracture Dec 2023, I have been "scammed" by AMR and GMR. They never called, and they said they did. I had a couple of statements through snail mail, then I get an email saying they would do compassionate help with the balance. I got to looking and there is NO balance. They wanted my financial information and this also happened with "Capio" on the balance of a hospital bill who also is a scammer for hospitals and medical bills. They have tried to get into my accounts and it is "the dark web" on my credit report. I have had to freeze ad put fraud alerts out on everything. These people send me a "link" for an application wanting income etc and tax forms. I worked at a hospital in the business office for over 10 years. THEY do NOT ask for as personal information, as what these people are asking for. Tax returns, banking statements... It is a HUGE fraud ordeal especially preying on those who are ill, elderly and people are losing their savings and more due to this type of fraud/scam operation.Review fromBrandon N

AMR has thoroughly reviewed your concerns. AMR is not contracted with your insurance carrier. As a result, the amount not paid by insurance becomes patient responsibility. We recommend you file an appeal with your insurance carrier if you feel a larger portion should be covered.

1 starThe ambulance responders were great, however, we were not asked if they were an in-network provider and our insurance charged us as an out-of-network provider, resulting in a much higher bill that AMR was not even willing to negotiate. If you ever have to call 911 make sure you ask if the ambulance is an in-network provider while the patient is dying. Terrible company to do business with.Review fromLillie M

1 starHorrible experience! My insurance company paid my ambulance ride in full because they are in network. AMR refused to bill as "in network" because it's their discretion to bill as they desire. So they took the $830 from united healthcare and billed me as "out of network" for the remaining $1599. They double dipped basically and had no right! I can't believe they would scam customers like this when we are in a literal tragedy.Review fromRebecca H

1 starIt is unfortunate that we don't get to choose who responses to our medical emergency. Although the paramedics did a fine job and revived a family member who was unconscious due to a low blood sugar, the paper work was filed incorrectly with the insurance company so the insurance refused to pay the bill. AMR agreed to refile with the insurance company with the correct documentation but continued to send bills. Now it has gone to a collection agency.Review fromCATHERINE F

1 starAbsolutely appalling company. Provided insurance company with an incorrect diagnostic code so emergency medical transport for a brain tumor patient with meningitis and a CSF leak was not covered by insurance. They said he had a headache. Called to find out how to get **** resubmitted and was told they would change the diagnostic code and resubmit to the insurance company. They didn't as a matter of fact can't do that without having the customer go through the appeals process with their insurance company. Only found that out when I called back after getting another texted bill. They were rude and unhelpful on the phone. Refused access to a manager. Staff did not understand basic questions and kept repeating info not related to the questions being asked. They've now created significant stress and more work under the worst possible circumstances and offered to do NOTHING to rectify their errors.Review fromNicole G

1 starMy baby was transported to another hospital for NICU purposes the day he was born. I have provided AMR with our insurance information several times now, including both myself and my insurance company calling them directly to provide the requested information and proof of insurance (at first they tried to tell me my baby was not covered at the time) however I continue to receive bills with the note of no insurance information on file or that they cant find my insurance. I have never had this issue with any other service/provider and had we known it would be this much of a hassle we would have transported our baby ourselves.
