Unacceptable Price Increases and Forced Fees
Eversource Energy has become increasingly frustrating to deal with. The constant and significant price hikes for electricity are unacceptable and seem to happen with little to no justification. On top of that, being forced to pay for "public benefits" fees is infuriating—these charges should be optional, not mandatory.
It feels like customers are being taken advantage of, with no regard for how these skyrocketing costs impact households and businesses. Energy is a necessity, not a luxury, and Eversource’s lack of transparency or consideration for its customers is deeply disappointing.
I sincerely hope the company starts listening to its customers and finds a way to offer fair and reasonable pricing. Until then, it’s hard to feel anything but frustration and resentment toward this monopoly.

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the billing practices of Eversource, which I believe are unjust and detrimental to small business owners like myself.
I recently rented a modest commercial space of only 600 square feet. For the past month, my electricity usage was minimal, amounting to just $22 worth of electricity based on kilowatt-hour consumption. However, due to Eversource’s demand meter system, my total bill skyrocketed to nearly $300.
The demand meter penalizes customers based on the highest point of energy demand during the billing cycle, even if that peak demand lasts only a brief moment. This policy is egregious and disproportionately affects small businesses with limited usage. In my case, a brief peak on the demand meter registering at 9 resulted in an astronomical increase to my bill—essentially negating the purpose of conserving energy and operating efficiently.
This pricing structure is not only punitive but also feels like legalized robbery. Businesses should not be financially burdened by a billing system that penalizes momentary spikes in demand while completely disregarding actual energy usage. It is fundamentally unfair and seems designed to extract more money from customers rather than provide a fair and transparent pricing model.
As a hardworking individual trying to maintain a small business, I feel betrayed by a utility company that is supposed to serve its customers. I strongly urge Eversource to reevaluate its demand meter policies and implement a billing structure that reflects actual energy usage rather than penalizing brief demand spikes.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to see meaningful changes soon that protect small business owners from these exorbitant and unjust fees.
      Sincerely, ***** ********
      Business Owner

Called the company to question my bill. I have solar panels which should defray some of the cost. My bill was over $800 for one month! I was told by their customer service that she reviewed years and years of my usage and can tell I use air conditioning every summer. I told her that i have only lived here for 2years. Then she continued to say I should pay an electrician to do an audit “we don’t do that” I questioned if the meter was faulty she stated “there is nothing wrong the meter” This company has absolutely no customer support and they ended the conversation by hanging up on me.

I don't Know how the state of CT can allow ever source to treat people like this, I was hang up on today because I requested to speak with someone else as the person I was speaking with was very rude. My bill as nearly doubled and the explanation makes no sense. delivery charge is nearly the same as usage charge. I went on a new start plan only for the bill to double with no explanation, and the new start balance remains the same in almost a year. I will be filing a formal complain as this is outright stealing.

Company does not provide clear information about how they do their billing, all information is very general, and there’s no way to check if they are being fair without significant research on the consumers part. Because they have an almost complete monopoly on electricity, there is no way for the consumer to have choice Over the services being provided. Charging a public benefit rate that matches the percentage of your bill of the electricity actually used is stealing, the consumers shouldn’t be forced to pay double the amount of electricity they used.

Eversource’s is a thief of a company charging customer outrages rates to make up and pay the CEO yearly salary. Customers have to pay for electrical charging stations Even if you don’t own one And I have to pay for other peoples electrical bill during Covid.

The PUBLIC BENEFITS on their monthly invoice that is supposedly based upon our usage is a scam. We can barely afford our monthly bill and they added this public benefits to help support the less fortunate when we can barely afford our own bill and we don't qualify for this said benefit. The cost per month is the same amount as our monthly usage $. BBB needs to investigate Eversource and this "benefit" as it seems to only benefit the company and not the consumers.
