Absolutely impossible to get anyone on the phone at Aetna. Tried calling over and over and over and if the call gets answered at all, it's by a ****** (barely functioning) ai that doesnt understand half of what you say or catches background noise. When you finally make clear what department you need, you get transferred and, surprise surprise, NO ANSWER. And you can't leave a message, it just hangs up on you. You might get lucky if you call the national customer service line where they won't directly help you but they'll take down a callback number. They'll ask you for your preferred callback time and THEN IGNORE it and call at a completely DIFFERENT time. Then they won't answer when you call THEM (bc they somehow ****** up calling when you said you were availble). No one is any help at all. Not to mention the ridiculous costs of medicine through them.

Worst service ever, great at taking our money but terrible customer service, terrible at responding, hiding behind laws and not communicating properly, don't care about patient's well being, shame on everyone who works there, no one gives direct answers, no one is human, they are robots reading answers that are not answering patient's questions

This insurance company is the worst! I spoke to an associate that told me that I was covered for IVF. I even asked her are you sure that I am covered and the associate confirmed and now when I am about to do my IVF process and medication I’m not covered by Aetna. I initially contacted Aetna to confirm coverage to make an informed decision and they misinformed me. I’ve started the process I’ve made my down payment for non-covered services, which came up to about $5000 and now I am left to pay another 5000 to cover my infertility medication for IVF. There hasn’t been any remorse from Aetna in regards to their member which is very disheartening. They don’t care about anyone else but themselves they will tell you you’re covered, but when it comes down to medication, you’re left to pay for it entirely. I really wish my company would change their insurance plan from Aetna because they are truly the worst they don’t have their members interest at heart. They have the most basic insurance coverage and it’s just horrible that this is still happening with medical coverage in 2024.

So tired of paying thousands of dollars to be denied medically necessary CT scans of my abdomen. I could die and they wouldn't care. I needed a CT scan that my doctor ordered and I was made to wait 2 weeks for the approval of the procedure. They did not approve it. I called them and they did absolutely nothing. I could die. I hate the American healthcare system where they don't care if we die. All of the major countries have universal health Care. This is ridiculous. I'm so done with Aetna. I waited a whole month one time to get approved for medication that had retinol in it. They decided it was cosmetic. My doctor wanted me to use it for medical reasons.

Aetna is by far the worst insurance (non) provider in the industry. I have made multiple calls to Aetna to locate labs and imaging providers to peform the tests ordered by my doctor only to repeatedly be given false invalid information about being in-network, location, and services. I have spent several days and a over 34 hours of my time calling Aetna and speaking to their "Resolution Specialist" just to simply find an in-network provider to perform the tests my doctor ordered. The stress Aetna has caused because of their inaccurate information has exasperated my health condition.

If you are thinking of using Aetna as your insurance provider, run away! My wife and I have been dealing with their shady practices for over a year trying to get them to pay for the serviced that they approved in writing! They continually deny claims using excuses like the doctor is not in service even though a visit only a few days before was approved. When you call there is no recourse to talk to any supervisor to dispute any ruling.
Avoid these people at all costs.

They approved a medication I’ve been on for months and then advised my doctor is not in-network and I’d need to switch doctors going forward to continue seeing him. What???? Then, they had the balls to advise I advocate for them with the dr to become part of their network. (All on recorded audio Aetna). He despises dealing with their nonsense and will be making a visit to the state attorney general. I’m so frustrated by the medical process in our country. Doctors don’t have time to wait on hold to answer redundant questions from insurance companies. Read the medicals and do right by the patient. Very lazy and sloppy customer service. Lastly, there is certainly a weird vibe between the Aetna/CVS partnership. They work together to deny patients at every turn. Time for ***** and the local pharmacy I suppose. But first, I’ll be meeting a lawyer at the very least to cause a stir.

One of the worst insurance companies. After being on a medication for over 2 years that's finally working without side affects they've decided to deny the renewal. They're forcing my husband to change the medication to what THEY want/recommended him to take NOT THE DOCTOR and now expect to go through the prior approval process for their recommended medication. The doctor doesn't want to change the medication AETNA wants to because they no longer feel like paying for it. Insurance companies should not be allowed to play with people livelihood and Lives! The medical in this country is a joke thanks to insurances like Aetna. Only class action law suits will fix this bureaucratic mess
