Aetna is a scam! I needed cataract surgery and spoke with Member Services many times before the surgeries were performed, to ensure I was going to correct doctor and that my bill would be paid. Aetna advised me that I would only be responsible for $275. per eye for deductible. My doctor was in network and had surgeries pre-certified. After cataract surgery Aetna paid a small sum to the doctor, who subsequently sent me a bill for almost $400.00. After calling Aetna's member services many times and spending literally hours on the phone, being told different things by each representative I spoke with, I was told that my doctor was paid out of network and I owed remaining charges. My doctor was an in-network provider! I finally connected with a person who advised me my only recourse was to file a grievance with Aetna. I plan on doing that. I also made the decision to leave Aetna for another carrier. I had been an Aetna member for over 2 years. Do not believe what the representatives tell you. Each one will tell you something different. I am quite dissatisfied with Aetna and would advise anyone to use another carrier. Aetna does nott even have a psychiatrist in my town, unless you want to go to a state agency. I prefer not to. Aetna is unsatisfactory for me. I would never recommend that insurance to anyone. As of April 1 I will have a new carrier and will leave Aetna in the dust.

The absolute worst company to deal with is an understatement. I have Aetna PPO provided to me for free through my school and from the very beginning, it has been a nightmare. I was never sent an insurance card and had to request one, never sent any notification whatsoever of my enrollment period which caused a lot of issues with what used to be my primary insurance and is now my secondary. The portal for both web and mobile is horrendous. I have my password saved into my computer meaning I don't even have to enter it, it just automatically knows it yet I still get locked out for having the "incorrect password" randomly. Sometimes it does let me log in then just loads a blank page reading "script error." They also randomly started incorrectly processing my claims which have gotten me sent several medical bills and I've had to repeatedly give them my secondary insurance information... not even sure why that started happening since my secondary insurance has been the same since I started Aetna and they were able to process claims properly before?

This is my dad's current insurance and we've had nothing but trouble from this insurance since I turned 26. They have given us false information about when my coverage ends, which they can't because their employees and system are not even updated on my case. They say one thing and then say something else. They told us my coverage ended in December and promised to reprocess all my claims now they are wiggling their way out if it by changing the date back to my birthday last year. They won't even pay the hospital occurence that happened before my 26th birthday. They won't admit they made a mistake and they won't tell my current insurance company correct information so they can pay the claims. I will be sent to collections soon because of their stupidity.

Absolutely the worst insurance I've had. I say that after a variety of Health care experiences that came after living in 4 States and having a variety of PPO POS and HMOs. Now they want to pre-authorize my regular RX before they apply my co-pay to the already ridiculous $3K deductibles. Denying anything that isn't part of Obama care well care reimbursable... second guessing primary physicians at every turn and making it impossible to get reimbursed for out of pocket expenses.

Aetna is one of the worst insurance companies I have ever dealt with we signed up with Aetna because my dentist was on their PPO I'm be known to us they switched us off onto another Insurance Company which our dentist was not in their PPO so therefore they would only pay a percentage of what they allow which is which is about half of what my dentist charged they won't pay a percentage of that so I would never advise anyone to chose Aetna as an insurance company because they are deceptive my name is *** ***** hey this is my review

AETNA Is a scam. I was told an out-of-network recurring payment was approved multiple times over the phone and that I should receive the compensation within two weeks, which led me to continue the treatment over several months. The claim was repeatedly canceled with no explanation. I called today, I was asked to hold, and I was eventually forwarded to a closed department. Had I known this treatment wasn't covered in December when I could choose different insurance, I would not have picked AETNA.
AETNA misled me. And will potentially make me lose thousands of dollars.

These people LIE! Day in and day out. As a provider and medical biller, it is an absolute nightmare to get claims paid. Representatives barely speak English, there is never a supervisor available, there's only one number to call for provider services and it's utterly useless. You should thank your lucky stars if your claims pay accurately on the first submission. They deny 4 claims out of over 12 that all had the same authorization number, but paid all the other claims, deny those four for not having an auth. I called in November 22 and the rep. said he was sending them back for an escalation, but the rep I talked to today said he never did it! The first person I talked to in the same phone call put me on hold then sent me back the the initial queue. They can do whatever they want because there's no recourse for their actions. I don't know how they can get away with the worst customer service in history! I will scream it from the rooftops to anyone that will listen to stay away from this horrible "insurance company".

They stink! They totally neglect/abuse/take advantage of their elderly senior citizen patients by providing outdated, erroneous network PCP listings, and network physicians try to make more money by assigning their new patients to their nurses saying that they can't see them in person till 2025 (ie. **** *** **).
Their Safety Ride system doesn't work. No transportation shows up leaving the elderly stranded at physicians' offices. They are supposed to provide 12 free rides.
The dentist they assigned in the network refuses**** **** *** to provide services and recommends the patient go and get treatment overseas where it is cheaper.
None of the staff in Customer service is trained and knowledgeable about issues and provides erroneous info. Some of them can't speak English.
Network providers, you call from their official listing to make an appointment, and hang up on you saying that they do not accept patients for Aetna Medicare HMO. They totally abuse elderly patients.
One Medical Group in their network requires you to buy a $199.00 ****** Doximity program package to sign up with one of the doctors.
The insurance cards they send are full of erroneous info and they refuse to send the correct one.
They charge for $ 0.00 maintenance medication and $45.00.
Please INFORM elderly about Aetna con games, neglect, and failure to provide even a decent maintence medical treatment

I have Aetna Better Health insurance through Medicaid. I had a recent claim issue & got amazing, quality customer service through a lady named Carolina. She handled everything with me compassionately and professionally. 5 stars for her!
