5 starsAARP offers free tax help. I made an appointment to have my taxes done by one of their VOLUNTEERS. Its free to all , except millionaires. Millionaires have their own lawyers.
It is good that AARP offers us free help to keep us in "uncle Sam's" good grace.
Thanks so much to the volunteers. I wish they could get paid by the government. As much as we pay in taxes; volunteers should at least get a voucher for a free lunch.
AARP saves me every year because doing taxes is a nightmare . One missed block on a tax form could land you in jail. AARP volunteers checks your paperwork thoroughly. So, I can sleep well at nightReview fromAdela M

This is regarding AARP Roadside Assistance/Allstate. Our entire vehicle was deeply stuck in snow when we slipped off on the icy road. No way could we shovel out. I called Roadside Assistance. The woman who answered could not understand me even though I spoke distinctly about the situation & our location. I even downloaded their app to no avail. She finally told me to call our own tow truck!! After a frustrating half hour, I hung up. We got no help whatsoever. Later, I called customer service & was told that we would receive 50% refund on our payment for the year. That was 2 months ago, & there is no refund. AARP Roadside Assistance used to be the best. In the past, we got excellent service. I don't know what has happened, but that is no longer true. You can't even cancel on their website or remove your credit card.AARP

I don't think that it is fair that AARP is refusing to cover people who owns Hyundai's and KIA's just because somebody else has been targeting them. I have no connections to the thefts but in spite, AARP has decided to NOT allow me coverage.
SO IF YOU HAVE A HYUNDAI OR KIA DONT WASTE YOUR TIME CONTACTING THESE PEOPLE.AARP

I have found them helpful. My mother inlaw had their helped before she died in 2002. She swore by them. Sowhen I turned 64 in 2014. I joined.
I spoke to someone at AARP about Health Ins. I was recommed a policy for hospital.and drug. Both policies cover my needs. I have Systemic Lupus so ì have used both and surprised what they have covered. My expenses are covered well.AARP

The ONLY thing I got from AARP was a MILIION pieces of mail! Zero benefit! And when I tried to cancel the automatic renewal, all I saw were one-click options to renew and to donate.....but to cancel you had to "call" or "send in a letter"!!! What kind of crap is that! AARP, if I can EASILY sign up, I should be able to EASILY cancel! I hate fraudulent business practices!!! And trust me, I will pass on the word!!!AARP

Dear Ms. S******,
AARP provides members the ability to control their communication with the organization. I see that you requested to have mailings stopped in June 2022. That request was added to your AARP membership profile. Additionally, members can cancel the Auto-Renew feature on their membership at any time by logging-in to their AARP account on AARP.org and choosing "My Account.
We regret any miscommunication and appreciate your past and continued support.
Sincerely,
Bruce

No, I cannot cancel that way or I would not have left that review, AND I am most certainly still getting mail, magazines, and everything else your company can create, so please do not try to pacify me with those very empty words of concern. But no worries, my "letter" of cancelation is stamped and ready to be mailed this weekend!Review fromBeverley C

Went online to AARP several times, following prompts, never got to the next page. Went on chat, she greeted me, I had cut and copied my issue, did not take. Finally, I said hello, nothing. Tried calling several times over several days, never got anyone.
Finally I called ******** and got a real person for ******** auto insurance. You have to be a member of AARP to have the insurance. Effective 2/1/23, my ***** insurance went up $57 a month here in Florida, because: "the cost of living and the cost of repairs have gone up". I am an excellent driver.
Someone recommended ********. I have no use for AARP, however I did sign up for it once and claimed a free gift, got to the end and it didn't take!!! Now, I downloaded a form, have to provide info., mail it to ******** and in about 7-10 days, I will receive a quote. She then said, at that point, I have to sign up for AARP. Hope this helps.AARP

1 starI believe AARP is just a mass marketing firm. I joined two months ago but have yet to recieve the magazine. What I have rec'd is all kinds of unsollicited mailings via hard copy and computer. I'm convinced they are just selling my information. But how to stop it now? That's the problem.Review fromHelen C.

So frustrating dealing with this organization. They may be effective at lobbying for the interests of older people, but my experience acting on behalf of my mother has been terrible. Previously filed BBB complaint because a one-time contribution to their non-profit foundation erroneously became a monthly gift that I spent an inordinate amount of time and struggle getting them to STOP. Was actually more difficult to get phone support than with many huge corporations! My Mom has cognitive limitations and could never have managed this effort. I was acting on her behalf to prevent them from taking monthly bank withdrawals from her forever. When I finally got someone high up enough to get this done she told me they don't have much staffing for this function. If you don't have the resources to service accounts you shouldn't take people's money, period. Now, over a year since my mother decided to let her membership to lapse an email came thanking her for her renewal. All the personal info associated with the account is my mother's, but the name is someone else! A 15 minute call to customer assistance only allowed me to explain the issue before I was disconnected. I can't delete the account and associated personal information or change privacy preferences as the account is in someone else's name. I would NEVER give this organization any information (email, phone number, DOB, bank info, etc.) as they don't demonstrate the competence to handle it responsibly. Especially galling when their mission is to protect vulnerable older people. Ironic...in a bad way.AARP

Thank you for your time on the phone this morning. We apologize for your less-than-expected customer service experience. We were able to determine that a new resident at your mother’s old address used an AARP renewal mailing linked to your mother’s name. We regret this error which reactivated her account. The payment has now been applied to the correct membership, and both accounts have now been updated accordingly. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
