I am currently in Northeast regional train no 129 , I boarded from *********************. The train was 40 minutes late which is okay but there is no place to sit actually . People are sitting on the ground. We are going standing up. When I contacted their chat line, the chat person simply said that it is the conductor 's job to find you a seat. Ask them. Very helpful . There are no conductors and all the seats are full. They believe that their conductors take their education from ******** where they can create seats out of nowhere Is the expansion charm part of the Amtrak trains? Because we paid for a seat and we didn't get one.Jokes aside, this is dangerous and not okay especially for the price we are paying (with any price but Amtrak is expensive)Unless you are absolutely needing it, never used Amtrak. Use horses if necessary. You can actually sit on them.Horrible.

I love Amtrak and use it frequently, despite the expense. I had noticed in the past their website had issues. This morning, when booking a ticket to ******, I had my card declined. When I called the credit card company, they saw no issue with the card; the problem they said, must be with the ********** the five minutes it took to get this sorted out, the price magically rose by nearly $40. It certainly seems like there was a deliberate delay in my purchase so they could raise the price. It was a complete bait and switch. The purchase went through just fine after I agreed to the higher price. Highly unethical and deeply disappointing.

I do not recommend going with Amtrak. The first thing they did was never give us the eta which made it so we didnt know around the time we would get to our destination and second they provide very little to no food and food options me and my dad were starving after the mini bags of gummys and pretzels they provided us with. Another thing they did was get us out 40 minutes of our town because there engine died and we had to be dragged by a train this train didnt come for 4 1/2 hours so we were stuck with no ac not moving, we were on our way to a cruise port we were originally supposed to get on at 4:30 and get to our destination at 12:40 we got there at 6:50 after getting off in ****** because we knew we wouldnt have made it if we stayed on this train any longer. We did not miss our cruise but they let us get on at 7 which was when they were closing doors to get ready to departure, now exactly a week later coming home from the cruise we are now stuck in ****** pushing on our second hour being stuck here we wouldve been home by now but they dont let us get off when we are stuck like this. But atleast this time we are stuck at the station instead of being stuck in the middle of nowhere like we were last week. I could write so much more about how bad this train business is but Im not going to I would like to add in my friend texted me saying the exact same thing happend to her a month before she was stuck on her train for 3 1/2 hours in the July heat. I am currently on this train now on the way back home and we have been stuck for almost two hours and they just told us why they said the food cart was having mechanical issues. This train *****.

Amtrak in ******** has a toxic work culture that is passed on to their customers.According to *****************************, each bag must have a tag with your name and address on the outside of all your luggage. However, this policy was overlooked in ********, **************, and led to one customer being the victim of racism, bullying, and potential physical harm. On August 20, 2024, I, ***************************, arrived at the station and asked for my luggage tags. ******, the Amtrak employee, replied if you do not see them, we do not have them. The employee had the worst behavior I have ever experienced. She cared little about customer service and rushed me to get my luggage on the scale. Her treatment of me was unacceptable, and I let my feelings be known. She did not try accommodating or respecting my decision to wear a face mask to avoid COVID-19. Her response to my proactiveness was, if you take your mask off, I can hear you. Subsequently, I gave her my drivers license to avoid any more miscommunication, as many people often misspell and mispronounce my name. My inalienable right to protect and maintain my self-respect irritated the employee even more, and she retaliated against me in the following way. After instructing me to put my luggage on the scale, she refused to help me. After a customers luggage is weighed, the attendant reaches their hand through the baggage compartment to receive it. In my case, she denied my plea for help and forced me to push my luggage through the portal, which was dangerous and could have resulted in a severe injury. I have arthritis in both knees; Had any one of them given out, I would have fallen to the concrete floor, seriously injuring or killing myself. I demand an immediate investigation and a review of the tape of the incident on 08/20/2024 shortly after 6 pm. The video will confirm my story. Below is a video of how an attendant behind the counter receives the luggage.

Its always comforting to know there are travel options way more expensive, frustrating and downright criminal than air travel. If you want guaranteed anxiety and stress like youve never experienced in your life, may i suggest the Amtrak Auto Train - it runs daily from ********* to **********, and has not been on time in years - so once you get that out of the expect near 3rd world accomodations and an extreme delay from beginning to end.We showed up $1211.00 poorer at ****** Va with our vehicle. After a 2 hour 40 min delay just going to drop the car for loading, upon entering the station we were greeted by an Amtrak employee whom told us a minimum additional 2 hour wait was coming,We found our roomette, between the odd mold/mildew smell and overall severely worn out everything, we settled in, 6 hour late already, we paid for dinner which was to be around dinner time. They called us at 12:20am for dinner and upon entering were told they were out of beer and wine. Options were soda and water. The food was cold and steaks were sold out.Back to the roomette - free wifi is non existant outside the dining car.Half the plugs didnt work and only the bathroom light worked reliably. The bed/bench upholstry and walls were worn and had tons of stains - food/drink fight happened at some point in that room.No hot water in the shower. Slept for 6 hours.Woke to attendant screaming into loudspeaker that breakfast was served, we Walked to the dining car and they were out of most everything except pre-packaged high carbohydrate snacks and ***** ******** which had a great aroma and Revolting taste. We went back to the room and woke to the attendant telling us the conductor/engineer ran out of time they were legally allowed to operate the train so we ended up stopped in The middle of nowhere waiting for a new driver, another 2+ hour delay. We reached ********** 11 hours late, disembarked and then waited another 2+ hours for the cars to be unloaded.Total 13 hrs late

When searching for tickets to take a trip over Thanksgiving Week a month ago we saw the cost for 4 people was roughly $300. Unfortunately we waited to get the tickets which now cost us $1062 on 8/11/24. I understand needing to increase costs due to demand but over 350% surge pricing is predatory. Especially for a government subsidized business.

no chair for those who are waiting outside for the ride. You drop off your passenger late and you dont even give as a seat to wait.

My husband and I made a reservation in April 15, 2024, for a train vacation from ************ to *********** scheduled for September 23 to September 29, 2024. This is going to be my husband's 70th birthday celebration. Our friends are coming too for the celebration. We specifically asked, and paid for a bedroom. We are senior citizens. Being in a roomette will be very uncomfortable. Today, July 29, we found out that Amtrak took the liberty to downgrade us to a roomette, and all the bedrooms are booked by now. ..WITHOUT NOTIFYING US!!! THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! We contacted Amtrak Vacations, and Amtrak refuse to do the minimal possible to change things around to have satisfied customers. They offered $700.00 refund...we do not care about the money. WE WANT A BEDROOM. Amtrak makes the mistake by not notifying us at a reasonable time, and we, senior citizens, have to pay the consequences.

Paid so much money for a roomette (just under $4000 round trip) and it was filthy! I wish I could upload some of the pictures. When we got there, there were dirty tissues shoved in the cracks of the tray table, there were layers of dirt on every surface. Luckily I brought some wet ones and I used a whole cloth, just wiping off the ledge of one side of our seats and it was completely black when I was done. The bathrooms and shower were so disgusting, I cant believe they arent shut down by the health department. In addition, there were issues with the seats getting stuck and the air not working consistently. We were just told This is an old train, thats just the way it is. Had I walked into a hotel room that looked half this bad, I would have walked out and slept in my car. When I asked for a refund, for the trip back, I was told no, because I didnt have trip insurance. I didnt realize that I needed to insure myself against their incompetence. Id give negative stars if I could.
