This company is horrible. They want me to pay almost $600 a month in loans. They won’t help you get a lower amount what so ever for you TO PAY IT & NOT GO TO COLLECTIONS. I went to school to be able to afford living but with a payment like this it’s like I’m living paycheck to paycheck again. They refuse to lower payments and the best they’ll do for you is lower it by maybe $100 make your
Loan longer and your interest rates sooo much higher. This company is truly a scam it needs to be shut down. I would rather pay collection agencies than give ANYTHING to Sallie Mae.

TERRIBLE company. Sallie Mae refuses to work with you on payments that you can afford. They wanted me to pay $955 a month on a loan when I don’t even make close to that much extra money a month. They refuse to help find a solution and could care less about the well being of their customers. AVOID this company at all cost. They are PREDATORY Lenders and crooks. The amount of interest they charge for a 17 year old (at the time) to have a loan is outrageous and would never be able to be paid off. They threaten to put a lien on your house and sue you, but none of that ever happens. They constantly harass. You are better off letting your loans go to default than give these CROOKS any money at all. Stay away from this company.

Sallie Mae is the absolute worse lender I’ve ever done business with. Their targeted audience is obviously young students who aren’t too educated on lending and what they’re really signing up for. Sallie Mae locks you in with a life long unreasonable amount of debt/payments. When I initially took these loans out for my associates degree fresh out of high school. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Over the years I have paid Sallie Mae over $20k and they’re increasing the rates higher and higher making it impossible for any payment amount to go to principal. They do not offer refinancing or any type of programs to assist you with payment them off. Also, every time I call and speak to someone, they’re always giving me different information. The whole company is fraud and is a scam and should be shut down.!

If you can avoid taking out a loan with Sallie Mae, do that. They are very unforgiving in regards to missed payments. I’ve had a loss of income and my payments are over $500. Theres no way I can pay those and survive. They will call you all day everyday and even your co-signer. Not only that but they’ve called my grandma who had nothing to do with my student loans. They offer no relief. Student loans are the last thing on my mind in this economy. Avoid taking out a loan with them.

Sallie Mae repeatedly is applying payments to other accounts so that they can apply interest to accounts. I cannot pay off accounts because they will not apply payments to correct accounts. Payments are being sent with payment vouchers and account numbers on checks. What can I do?

HORRIBLE company. I have student loans and overall my experience with Sallie Mae is terrible and I regret using them as my loan servicer. Over the years that I have had to deal with Sallie Mae, they have taken double the amount and had to refund my account due to a mistake with their auto debit and customer service. I had to fight for that refund because they withdrew double the amount and I would not have had any money in my account for basic human needs. Additionally, they have extremely disrespectful and insensitive customer service representatives who give inconsistent information. Any time I have ever had to call, the customer service representatives have such mean and miserable attitudes and NEVER provide consistent or accurate information. Considering the lines are recorded I wish I could play the recordings of what these representatives tell me, because it always different. Please do not ever take out a loan with this company. You will regret it.

A trash company who does not care to make student debt repayable or affordable. All “repayment programs” offered are a scam and not accurately marketed to customers/students. Overall, a terrible loan company that will rob you blind and ruin your credit despite consistent on time payments. Trash.

I applied for a CD. They asked three times for the same documents including a utility bill and bank statement. No other institution has ever asked me for this information when putting my money in a CD. Then they leave me a message for "security". I returned the call and customer service asked me why I was calling and what a CD was. Now I'm wondering if Sallie Mae CD's are a scam.

I don't have a lot of confidence at this point and think going through with the CD is not a good choice.

They are crooks. They will tell you that you owe them money that you don’t. The are cold and heartless. Sallie Mae
