Sallie Mae as repeatedly called and harassed a co-signer and even called posed as another family member to collect a bill. The staff is completely unhelpful and disrespectful; basically just reading off a script when they call. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Support staff is not helpful, they don't care and simply will leave you in the dust. They will deny you and expect you to work while in college over basically nothing. Yea not recommended.

This is a terrible company! They do not work with students at all! In my case they decided to contact my uncle who knows NOTHING or has any connection to this loan and try and get information on my grandmother. My grandmother cosigned for the loan and has been in the hospital. I did inform them of this. My uncle who I do not speak to and has NO Connection to this loan whatsoever has been receiving calls from them. Its ridiculous! Are they allowed to just contact anyone in my family concerning this? Seems not okay. Also they say they will work with you on payments but they DO NOT!! STUDENTS BEWARE!! Get your loan somewhere else!! They are nice and friendly when you sign up but once you start trying to set up payments you can afford they will not work with you! You owe what you owe! They do not care what you make or if you can pay that amount at all! DO NOT USE SALLIE MAE!!!!

This Company deserves 0 Stars. Getting a loan through them was the biggest mistake that I have ever made. Their customer service is terrible. Every time I have ever called about a loan payment or helping making my payments, the only thing they care about is the money, not the individual. Today I called because Sallie Mae took the loan payment out on the incorrect day which caused me to be in the negative. I called them today to ensure that the same thing would not happen next month. The agent kept talking over me and refused or understand where I was coming from. I tried to ask to speak with a manager and she hung up in my face. When I called back it was the same lady and she tried to say the call got disconnected, she then sent me over to the escalations department when I was not the one who escalated the call in the first place. Please never get a loan through Sallie May. They are the worst.

I cannot stand this company and I wish I would have done more research. I honestly hope they go out of business. Years ago I took out student loans and had my husband co sign. At the time, I was balancing a new baby, working full time and going to school full time. So I took out additional loans through Sallie Mae to help out. WRONG MOVE.

I graduated and 6 months after I graduated I got pregnant with a high risk pregnancy. I was placed on disability. My income went from 4300 after taxes to 1600 a month. I have been out of work for 7 months and they call me 4 times a day. I stopped answering because I had nothing to offer them as I had no job. Sallie Mae called my brother in laws girlfriends mother looking for me. I have seen this woman 1 time in my ENTIRE life. They also called my brother in law who I haven't spoken to in 18 months.

When I called them to tell them how invasive and humiliating it is, they asked why I couldn't make the Payment.. Well I don't have a job? They asked me- HOW MUCH DOES YOUR HUSBAND MAKE? HOW MUCH IS YOUR HOUSE PAYMENT? HOW MUCH IS YOUR CAR PAYMENT? HOW MUCH IS YOUR INSURANCE. HOW MUCH IS YOUR CHILD CARE? HOW MUCH ARE YOUR CREDIT CARD BILLS. HOW MUCH DO YOU PAY FOR FOOD? WHY DO YOU HAVE A 4000 MORTGAGE AND A 675 CAR? well, idiot. We had those things based on two incomes. So now that we have ONE. I prefer to feed my children before I pay a student loan. She then proceeded to tell me it will be garnished from my wages. Another time I called, I spoke with John and he told me to collect cans and turn them in for money. I'd love an attorney for invasion off privacy, humiliation and harassment.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with SallieMae. During a period of financial hardship, I found that SallieMae was unwilling to work with me on adjusting my payments, making an already stressful situation even more challenging.

Adding to my frustration, I received a letter from SallieMae stating that I had until June 30th, 2024, to make a payment to avoid defaulting on my loans. I made the payment as instructed, and it was successfully processed. Despite this, my account still defaulted with no communication or explanation from SallieMae. When I logged in to check my account status, I found that it said I no longer had any loans with them, which was confusing and alarming.

I called and spoke to multiple representatives to understand what had happened and why my account defaulted despite making the payment on time. Unfortunately, none of the representatives could provide any clear answers or solutions. When I requested a refund for the money that was taken from my account, they informed me that it was not possible, which feels completely unfair since they took money that was not theirs to take.

Overall, this experience has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. The lack of communication, support, and transparency from SallieMae has been appalling. I would strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with this company, as their handling of payments and customer service has been extremely poor.

I have been paying on my loans since 2016 and my total balance due is only about $1500 less than what my loan was for back in 2010. I would give them negative stars if I could. I suggest anyone to avoid this company at all costs.

Been receiving letters from Sallie Mae and there is a person that doesn’t live here at my address but Sallie Mae refuses to stop the letter. I feel it’s a scam cause it’s about students/school loans.

I could not be more appalled with the Sallie Mae Corporation. While in school I have made over 6000 thousand dollars in interest payments, and I owe more now than when I started. Sallie Mae does not properly disclose loan information on its website in the same way that credit card companies or other merchants do; meaning if my minimum monthly payment while in school is $25 dollars, and I make that payment, or pay more than that payment, Sallie Mae does not show the difference in payment, and interest accrued per month, which is then added to at the end of the month. So a student, believing that they are paying more than the required amount ends up owing more than when the loan started. Sallie Mae is the epitome of a predatory lender and should be put OUT of business. They have no business ripping students and their families.
