Certegy Payment Solutions, LLC (“Certegy”) is a specialty consumer reporting agency that provides subscribing merchants with recommendations for payment acceptance at their request.  To protect both consumers and retailers against losses from fraudulent or returned checks or Automated Clearing House transactions (collectively, “Payments”), in addition to maintaining a file of unpaid returned Payments, Certegy has developed an automated system that predicts the likelihood of these outcomes in connection with a particular Payment. Payment authorization is not an extension of credit. Since most merchants do not verify whether funds are available prior to cashing a check or accepting one as a form of payment, they may use our system to analyze the transaction for potential risk factors including, but not limited to, location, check writing and cashing history, check number, and amount. Our response provides the merchant with a recommendation as to whether or not the Payment is likely to be returned. It is then up to the merchant to determine whether they wish to take the risk of accepting the Payment. This service enables many of our clients to continue to offer Payments and check cashing options that might not otherwise be available without protection from exposure to potential losses.

You have filed a BBB Customer Review. For assistance with your specific matter, you may contact Certegy’s Customer Care Department at 855-567-7129 or choose to file a BBB Complaint. Once Certegy receives the details of your complaint, including your identifiers, such as driver’s license and financial institution routing and account number, we will investigate and provide a timely response.

Father had checking account placed on hold but was not aware until a check was declined at another store. Received letter in mail with reference number indicating that "to no fault of your own".... called and 1 lady answered stated that Dollar General did not receive his payment. He called bank and bank verified that payment was taken out of checking on 02/29/2024. Called back and same lady answered to state they have not received payment and to give another day or two to see if payment cleared. I called today, same lady answered stating that check cleared and all is well. I tried faxing over document proving that check was cleared by bank and she said it was not necessary. Father and I both believe place is a scam and thought others should be informed. He is taking this matter to Dollar General so they can inform others of the issue.

Has a check declined by Lowe's from a Discover money market account that has many times over the amount of the check on deposit. No, there were not too many transactions on that account and yes, I know that money market accounts have a limit. Ours has 6/month. This would have been the second transaction. My credit rating is above 800 as well and has been for many years. My wife once worked for a bank and she said this company probably charges financial institutions a fee to be included on their "acceptable" list and maybe that bank didn't want to pay. At any rate, it's obvious that they didn't even try to check with the bank to verify funds availability, They simply figured, "Nope, not on our list.... deny!". I find it hard to believe they supposedly have an A+ rating with the BBB with so many negative reviews.

The 1-star rating says it all. Just listened to an office worker talking to a "customer service" rep at ********************** discussing a collection attempt on a check that was written at a business. I am assuming Certegy represents this retail chain. After ******************** from Certegy, the office worker provided proof of a canceled check (front and back). This PROVED that the retail store cashed the check as the matter should have not gone any further. Yet, ****** sends another collection letter saying there is no proof of the check being cash. (???) Since when does a canceled check not prove that a check was cashed? Not to mention, that the bank account shows the withdrawn amount for the check. Now Certegy is requesting proof from the bank. I believe Certegy should be billed for the amount of time and mileage the office worker is having to waste on this matter. Certegy Payment Solutions is either a scam or has extremely bad customer service and practice. Or, all of the above. Any company that is choosing them to "represent" them should seriously reconsider because this is a bad representation of your business.

I attempted to make a purchase with a personal check. It was declined with NO reason given. Called the 800 #, after at least 5 tries and almost 20 minutes, finally spoke to a person who said they could not give me a reason why my check was declined. I called my bank, Experian, and Equifax. There are ZERO issues with my accounts and I have "great" credit according to the representative I spoke with at Equifax. I went to "ask.Certegy.com to get information per the paper I got at the business, and there was no record of my transaction. I have a right to know why my check was declined. I was not attempting to cash a check or get cash back from my purchase-this was a purchase for about $125. I spent another 30 min trying to reach a representative so that i could request a determination letter from them.

I will not be sending my identifiers, such as drivers license and financial institution routing and account number to a so called "Nationally known specialty consumer reporting agency" that my bank has never heard of. As for the "automated system that predicts the likelihood of these outcomes in connection with a particular Payment", there system is highly flawed, and jeopardized the transaction. My FICO score is well above 800 with all 3 Major consumer reporting companies. The only way Certegy Payment Solutions, LLC can have such a high BBB score is that BBB is not doing their job.

Declined me transactions from a store I went to regularly for a job Ive had for years. I dont know what information clergy uses to determine information but my other consumer habits should have no effect on my ability to cash my work check from a job Ive been at for years and Ive cashed several checks at this store over the years from this job and now suddenly Im a risk. I had these greedy corporations always trying to make it hard for consumers. Then they wont tell you any reason over the phone or at the store then they make it hard to order a report or dispute something!! I absolute hate this company and everything they stand for !
