I rented a car for a cross-country trip and spent over $2000. The homepage of their website says *** Members Save. I am a Premier *** member and when I booked online, there were ZERO prompts to input my information to obtain any discount. I also signed up with my email and did not receive a 15% discount as stated on the website. When I checked in to get my car, I was told by the receptionist to contact customer support for any discounts including the *** discount referenced on their website. Additionally, when I dropped off the car and complained about the condition I was given the vehicle and requested compensation they also said to contact customer service. I spent over an hour on hold trying to contact a human with their customer support line to finally be told I needed to submit my request online. Once I did that, it took 2 weeks to get a response. One in which they told me that I needed to apply discounts at the time of booking and before the vehicle was returned. How could I have even received a discount before returning the car based on how their team members handled my reservation?? I couldn’t get a discount when booking or at the counter then was told to contact customer support. So, after all this they told me there's nothing that can be done based on the signed agreement. They didn’t care about the quality of the product I received or to honor statements on their website. I suggest no one use ********** or their parent company *****. If you do, good luck trying to get membership discounts.

Definitely will not use Dollar Rental again! In my situation of renting their vehicle through Triple A, I specifically picked out Dollar rental car to reserve that advertised additional driver FREE . Dollar used a bait and switch advertising method, My car reservation was made 6/2/24 for a trip planned 7/1-7/5/24. Went over info with Triple A & Dollar 2 days before trip to Alabama (reservation desk location in airport, etc. All was good on my end, Dollar asked if 2nd driver was Triple A member, confirmed person was and told to bring Triple A membership card to reservation desk for verification at time of pick up. We did all requested but had to do so at Hertz desk as no staff was at Dollar reservation desk when we arrived and told we had complete rental reservation at Hertz. We did, showed proof of 2nd driver Triple A membership, although bit annoyed we had to go through Hertz as were other customers standing before and behind us. We got car and left quickly. Upon returning at required time frame Hertz told us to & confirming my email to receive final rental receipt, image my surprise when they in fact charged me nearly $75 for additional driver. Called triple A immediately to lodge a complaint and Dollar Rental to show them my booking info from triple A, but no response from Dollar. Dollar does not have a real customer service number just email and between triple A and I reaching out to them every other day, to date not even an acknowledgement they received our emails. I am really disappointed in them!!!

Underage renters BEWARE! Not only do they charge an extra daily rental fee for being under the age of 25 on top of the regular daily rental fee, they will charge exorbitant insurance fees on top of the daily insurance fee purchased for collision and comp. They hide this when booking. And unless you read ALL the fine print at the time of rental on the rental agreement, you won't know what you signed up for till you get the bill and it's a stunner - for my son, $1200 for a 4-day rental of an economy car at Detroit Metro Airport. Avoid Dollar at all cost. He's a hard-working, nearly broke kid to begin with. They are ripping young people off especially.

Prepaid for car and had confirmed pickup time at 8:30pm at Fresno airport. We arrived at counter at 8:15pm and were told they closed at 8. Me and my daughter were stranded at the airport with no car. Talked to 6 different rental companies til I found ANOTHER car to rent. Had to pay another $380. Read their reviews and you won't use them.

Upon arrival, I was informed that the vehicle I had reserved was unavailable. While this was already disappointing, the situation continued to escalate due to the manager's conduct. When I requested the manager's name to report the issue, he refused to provide it and aggressively stated that I would not be getting a car. This response was unprofessional and concerning. I then asked for copies of the documents I had signed, as I had provided my credit card and driver's license. The manager yelled that there were no documents and that the transaction was voided, as if it had never existed. This behavior was both alarming and unacceptable. Due to the hostile environment, I informed the manager that I would record the conversation for my records. Despite my efforts to deescalate the situation, he instructed other staff not to rent us a car. Additionally, the manager was rude to an Expedia representative who intervened on my behalf, indicating a pattern of disrespectful behavior. I understand that Expedia may also be submitting a separate complaint regarding this issue. Furthermore, the manager not only refused to provide copies of the documents but also destroyed them, raising serious concerns about the handling of personal information. This incident has not only impacted our trust in your company but also highlighted significant issues in your customer service practices. ek assurance that appropriate Moreover, I am now spending additional time dealing with my bank regarding a charge that should never have occurred. Despite the manager's claim that the transaction was voided, I was charged regardless, causing further frustration and inconvenience. This was at Dollar Rental Car at the Vancouver Airport.

They offer a contactless option where you do everything online which I thought would be good. I followed the online instructions leading to the date of rental. I get to the location and the vehicle was making a slight noise. I arrived to my destination 500 miles away and that slight noise had become more obvious. I spoke to dollar who gave me an option to drop the car for exchange 100 miles from where I was or take it to a nearby Firestone for an inspection. I chose both options where the Firestone has a 3hr wait. I then arrived to the airport to change the vehicle where they seemed dumbfounded about the process. I booked a flight home and left the car with them. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

Rented 2 vehicles from MCO. Both vehicles were prepaid. When we received our final receipt from dollar after our trip, we realized that they charged us a damage waiver fee in which they were specifically told we did NOT want. When I tried to contact dollar there was absolutely no phone number in which you could speak to a customer service person it simply directed you to fill out an online form. When you complete the online form you get an email response all is correct on bill. I have reached out to them over 10 times and no one has EVER attempted to reach out to me. This is simply crazy and it should never be allowed.

7/22 has been a tough day for me. After an almost 20-hour, three-leg flight, we finally arrived at our final destination, Kona, Hawaii. I booked and paid for a GMC Yukon at least three weeks ago through dollar's corporate partner, Ctrip. Everything seemed fine, except our flight arrived in Honolulu early. We switched to an earlier flight to Kona. When I went to pick up my rental vehicle, I was very tired and felt sorry because I was two hours early for my reservation time. Your staff said there was no such SUV available at the moment, but he offered me an upgrade at no extra cost. This sounded very good to me. However, after checking a lot of data and even asking for my Costco membership, he then requested my credit card and gave me a total of around $800. I told him I had already paid for the vehicle, and he acknowledged this. When I asked if this was the total amount for the vehicle rental, he said yes. I signed the paper without realizing this "total" was an upgrade fee until an hour later when I received a notification from the bank. I drove back immediately to try to resolve the misunderstanding since $800 is way too much for an little upgrade. However, they said it was too late, as it had been almost two hours. They advised me to call their customer service. I called service,I did and waited for 50 minutes without resolution. I spent my entire afternoon dealing with this issue, making numerous calls and even driving back twice to try to meet with the original staff. The second time I went there, they wouldn’t let me into the building and pushed me back to the first office which advising me to call the official service number. I haven’t traveled internationally for five years due to the covid pandemic, but before that, I visited the USA every year and frequently used Dollar. I usually received free upgrades and was always satisfied with the service. I don’t understand why communication has become so difficult this time.

I'm on hold with customer service trying to change a reservation. I made my reservation directly on the website but it says I didn't so I can't do anything but call in. Recording said it would be a 10 minute hold. I and now at 39 minutes and climbing. This my last rental with them. Absolutely horrible customer service.

Arrived at the airport and had to wait 30 minutes before even getting the janky car that was assigned to us. On return day we were the Canada/US border and while waiting in line the car starts smoking, alternator blew up. Antifreeze was pouring out. Had to get help so I went to the police headquarters, well that was an experience like youd see on tv. Anyway, called Dollar, tow truck was coming to get the car. We had to leave it and got an Uber to get to the airport on time. $213.00 dollars later I gave the information to the gentleman at the Dollar check out and he took down my information and said someone would be in touch. Ive called and emailed several times and its been going on 3 weeks now. Still dont know if they charged me or what. Cant get ahold of anyone. Customer Service is a joke here. Someone shouldve followed up immediately. Will never use again!!
