I was charged an additional $419.94 for a Damage Waiver (CDW/LDW) that I declined when asked at the customer service desk and didnt see that charge until after I had returned the rental car. After I talked with customer service on the phone, I was told that they cant refund the Damage Waiver since it was signed for at pickup even though I did not see that on the receipt they handed me at the time of pickup. When I made the reservation through my employers travel website, I prepaid $394.19 and was only to pay an additional $133.07 on arrival to pickup the rental with a total cost of $527.26. However, with the Damage Waiver I ended up paying the total was $583.51 plus the prepaid amount of $394.19 which ended up totaling $977.70 that really shouldve only been $557.76. This was the first time I have experienced being charged an additional fee without my consent and will not be renting from Dollar again while also double checking that any other rental car companies dont include random insurance fees.

Rental car returned with full tank of fuel, but charged $140.90 for fuel. I filled a complaint with customer service and a comment survey both said some will get back to me within 5-7 working days. It has been over 30 days never heard. I can't get hold of anyone in customer service because there is no telephone no for customer service. Hope some one from BBB will help.

When I booked my reservation the total charge was $130. When I returned the car the total was $278. Extra charges were added to the amount that I never asked for. If Im quoted $130 when I make the reservation then thats what Im expecting to pay! I will not return and I advise others not to rent here or if you do make sure when you get your car that youre only charged the exact amount on your initial reservation.

I will never rent from Dollar again. They scammed me. I was in El Paso for a family emergency. (My dad was dying). I had reserved my car through Kayak. When I got there the man told me I needed to purchase their insurance. I told him I would just use my car insurance. He said that you have to have it specifically on your car Insurance that it covers rentals. This was surprising to me and I didn't know ow if I had that or not. ( turns out that was a lie) So I asked how much it would be. He said $ 653. I thought to myself that my rental is $500 so $153 for insurance is doable. I said okay that is fine. Turns out the $653 was just for the insurance. Apparently my car rental was seperate and I had already paid it. Who in their right mind would pay $653 for car Insurance on a rental?? I didn't even realize this until a few weeks later when I looked at my statement.

I rented an electric car from Expedia for $300 from Dollar Car Rental at ****************** in ****** only to arrive at the counter and have it suggested to me that an electric car where we were staying would be difficult to charge as the hotel had no charger and the closest charging station was 20 mins from where we were staying. I asked for a gas vehicle instead and negotiated a price of $18 a day plus toll charges which I was happy with. When I was handed the bill to sign it was $417 which I thought was correct based on taxes. I was told that I would have $200 be put on hold on my CC which I agreed to.After our return home I was sent two invoices minutes apart late in the evening one for $700 and the other for $417 which was applied to my CC and I could not understand as I had pad Expedia already for the car rental. I contacted Expedia who contacted ****** who said the charges were valid as I had not been charges the the full amount when I booked. A few day later I received another invoice and charge to my CC for $77 for the toll charges and some other charge i do not understand. ****** has not returned my email despite following their procedure for complaints. Since when does a 4 day car rental for a ****** cost almost $200/day, NEVER. Dollar has no other way to challenge these charges and Expedia has been no help at all.

UPDATE: Please provide feedback before deleting my review instead of just deleting it. I strongly urge higher headquarters to audit this location's practices internally to improve the company's future and customer experiences. On May 5/11/2024, I had a very frustrating experience with a ********* INT'L Airport front desk agent. As a frequent car renter, I had high hopes for my first rental with Dollar Car Rental. I checked in online before my arrival, and the front desk agent informed me that the compact car reservation ($40.44) was unavailable. He offered that I either upgrade to a mid-size car or go with another vendor. I reluctantly chose the upgrade option ($72.65) because I had a time-sensitive event to attend. Upon arriving at the mid-size car ******* Altima), I noticed at least three compact cars available in the parking lot, parked ironically around my mid-size rental. I verified with the employee parking the vehicles, who confirmed they were ready for rental. When I got back in line to speak to the front desk agent again, he recognized me and mysteriously left for 10 minutes, leaving me waiting. When he finally returned, I informed him that compact cars were available, and I had photos for his viewing. He declined to see the pictures and ignored investigating the lack of communication between the vehicles ready for rental and his station. He was dismissive of my request to switch back to my original booking and even threatened to cancel my booking entirely. I spent an additional ($32.21) on the upgrade and would like to be reimbursed. The front desk agent's behavior was unprofessional and will ultimately hurt your business in the long run. Please take this matter seriously and provide a fair resolution to both parties. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Please acknowledge receipt of this complaint and provide a timeline for when I can expect a resolution.Sincerely,*********************** Customer **************************************************

Will never rent from Dollar again. We returned our car at Love Field in Dallas. Since you do not get your bill immediately, we found out after we had already left that they charged us more than $200 for returning our car 1 hr. and 10 minutes early. Had we known, we would have waited at Dollar the hour and 10 minutes. No one to call. No chat line. No one warned us that we were returning early. Hey, Dollar, you got your last dollar from me.
