Reserved and paid for a four day rental on line and paid $345 When picking up the car (after waiting in line for 2 hours) they stated the state of AZ required us to pay for their insurance and would not accept our personal coverage of my credit card coverage. Paid another $410 for their basic(lowest coverage offered) and the emergency recovery, and 30% tax. Nearly $200 a day for a car rental! Filed. a complaint, they said they would reach out to us within 72 hours. A week later and still have no reply! HORRIBLE COMPANY manipulating it's customers!!!!

Scam artists. I booked a car to be picked up at the Orlando International Airport in December 2023. Upon checking in, she verbally asked about insurance coverage which I declined because I had coverage. I printed out my statement when I returned home and found they charged me for a damage waiver of $174.95, Concession Fee Recovery of $22.00 and Premium Emergency Roadside Service of $44.95. I didn't verbally agree to any of it. I called corporate, run by Hertz Rental Car, and he stated since I signed the agreement then it was binding. I asked for a copy of my contract which has not arrived. Also, I refused the plate pass for the tolls and somehow my debit card I used at the Dollar Rental was being used for a plate pass transaction in Mesa, Arizona. I do believe they stole my debit card information. This company cannot be trusted.

I rented a car (through Orbitz) to be picked up at the Denver Airport. When we arrived, they told us the size SUV we rented was unavailable. The gentleman helping us came back after 15 minutes and told us his manager had said he could upgrade us "for free". We got the car and went on to enjoy or trip. When we arrived home a few weeks later my husband received his credit card (they scanned for any issues) and we had been charged $900.00. When I called (3 times) I was told each time someone would get back to me about the charge and that never happened. I didn't receive one call. The email response I received was " the charge is legit" The charge was fraud as we signed nothing and never agreed to that. I realize other than reporting it to our credit card company as fraud there is not much that we can do. I don't see how a company this large can scam people this way and nothing is done about it. TERRIABLE COMPANY AND I WILL NEVER USE THEM OR ORBITZ AGAIN.

Rental from the ****************** Location. My return ***** Explorer) was due at 11am. I dropped it off just after 10am and forgot to leave the key fob in the car. I left the key fob with airport staff, who returned it for me (around when my return was due back). Dollar stated they still had to recut a key for the vehicle... $250USD. All rental cars are the same, but customer service from the companies clearly isn't (including waiting for over an hour in line to get my rental at 10pm with 3 crying babies). When following up with the company, they claimed that due to the high utilization at the location, they could not wait for the key to be returned and had to recut the key for the vehicle.I requested the company provide proof that a new key was cut and programmed for the car, but they failed to provide this.

I wish to report an issue regarding a car rental transaction that occurred on January 21st at the Dollar Rental car facility located at Jacksonville International Airport in Florida. I had reserved a vehicle through Booking.com for a four-week period. Upon my arrival at the Dollar Rental counter, I informed the representative of my intent to decline the Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) insurance, citing that my credit card provided comprehensive coverage for such instances. The representative countered by stating that, under Florida law, accepting the LDW was obligatory, as credit card insurance would only serve as secondary coverage. As an expatriate currently employed in the United States, I am not fully versed in the various state-specific regulations and, therefore, acquiesced to his explanation and proceeded with the rental agreement that included the LDW. It was not until a few days prior to the return of the vehicle, when processing the rental charges for work reimbursement, that a colleague questioned the necessity of the LDW fee. After I recounted the interaction with the Dollar Rental representative, my colleague informed me that the assertion regarding the mandatory nature of the LDW in Florida was inaccurate and suggested that I may have been misled. Given this situation, I've also reported this incident to the relevant Florida and Federal authorities with the hope of receiving guidance or resolution, including the possibility of reimbursement for the unwarranted charges incurred due to this misinformation.

Got wrong car to begin with. Told a debit card could only use a $ 500 deposit. A credit card only required 200. It was charged. I assumed i would get it back when I returned the vehicle. Then I was told it would be reurned with in 24 hours. Its almost 3 days now. Spent over an hour trying to find help, and be told it will be returned in a week by a non english speaking idiot who procceded to hang up on me, when I explained what I was told and what happened.

Rented a car in Tucson, reserved the car through Booking.com one month in advance. The car we reserved was not available and a sales clerk wanted to rent us an electric car. She was extremely rude and did not explain where the car could be charged and how long we can drive on one charge. She bullied us with statements "We in the US plan to drive only electric cars soon" and "Don't use kilometers in America...". The clerk charged us additional $330 just to give us a regular car in a larger class, even though other rental companies would do this for free if the reserved car is not available. Will never rent from "Dollar" again.

Poor customer service. All they had in our reservation category were EV cars left. We are on a business trip and did not have time to stop and charge a vehicle which can take hours sometimes if there is not a quick charge station. We were forced to upgrade and were charged for the upgrade. The car had bad wiper blades and a leaky tire, upon returning we were charged for the tire leak, because there was a nail in it. Treated poorly at drop off. Like we were an inconvenience.

On 02/13/2024 I arrived at 2:53 pm for my 3 pm car rental, where *** assisted me. Unbeknownst to me, he canceled my **************** rental, charged a different amount, and claimed I voided the contract by arriving 7 minutes early. Despite being willing to wait until 3 pm to avoid a price change, he never mentioned it, proceeding to void the agreement and continue charging me more. After rebooking online for 3:30 pm, I faced further issues, including being charged for an unwanted upgrade. Disappointed with the service and treatment by the manager, the experience at Dollar rent a car left me frustrated, especially as they allowed overcharging despite a reservation with a set price.

Scammers any money put down up front consider it gone. They definitely have a habit of adjusting they wont and dont send you any confirmations of extensions then when theyre sure of your return. Your vehicle was due and your extension wasnt put in and they find pre existing damages if this is your first outing with them. All due to their being plenty of other rental companys and many new customers to scam.
