      I rented a car and paid $578.00 via rentalcars.com. When I went to pick up the car at ****** ******************, I was told I would have to pay them an additional $378.30 to have a gasoline-power car as they had more electronic vehicles. I was driving hundreds of miles through countrysides and would not be able to charge the car. I found a lower price online and asked if I could rent this one. They told me they weren't taking "******" customers. They gave me no choice as I had to have a car. They knew this and I was not the only one at the counter that they did this to. It is illegal. I ended up having to pay $956.30 for a 10 day rental!!!! I am so disgusted. This practice is illegal. There are no legal documents this company provides that states they can charge more for a gas-powered car. Please DO NOT use them. I am in the middle of filing a legal complaint.

      Worst car rental experience ever. Will never do business with *****/Dollar car rental again. Enterprise all the way. After waiting 2 hours in line we got to the counter and were told that we had rented a pickup truck. LIES! So the older lady at the counter told us she only had one car available for us. I asked her a price and she kept diverting the question by saying dont worry, Ill take care of you. Short version of the story, she ended up charging us more money for the car. Their bait and switch tactics get you to their counter but expect to pay more while receiving if the worst service. Also, they will go out of their way to upsell you insurance and unlimited tolls. Never again.

      Gas charge scam. How is Dollar allowed to continue to scam customers for $20 per rental? You fill the gas up around the corner of the car return garage. They dont ask for the gas receipt, They say you are all good but then they charge you for 2gallons of gas due to not presenting your gas receipt. I will never rent from them again.

      A week ago, I had terrible experience with Dollar Rental at Chicago Midway Airport. I travelled there from Atlanta Ga. I reserved a SUV at weekly rate of $429.00. Because I inadvertently left my credit card used to reserve the card,I was not allowed to rent the SUV. Instead, they placed a $500.00 hold plus the price of the rental for a total of $930.00 on my card. The car they rented me despite all the news about these cars being stolen was a Hyndai. Elantra 2020. Two days later the car was stolen right in front of house I was staying at. . I followed all the necessary protocols and was not allowed to get another car. After turning in the car, the very next day, I was charged $168.00 a day for 3 days plus tax and fees for a total amount of $669.00. I will never rent from this company again. The workers were not sensitive, unknowkegeable as I wad told I couldn't rent another car until the Hyundai was recovered. I was in Chicago for pleasure without transportation and had to modify my plans fue to no transportation of my own which caused me to be dependent upon others. The worst experience ever. C. S***

      Thieves. What a nightmare to deal with this company. One of the worst travel experiences I've ever had. Plus they keep trying to charge more money every month. 3 months later now. Dollar is the worst. Even worse than Green Motion, and that's saying a lot.

      I express my profound disappointment with the customer service and product quality provided by Dollar Rent A Car during my recent trip. Approximately three months prior to my journey, I had meticulously made a reservation for a luxury-class vehicle, primarily to accommodate my impending visit with significant clients in the ****** area.Regrettably, upon arriving at the airport to collect my reserved vehicle, I was met with a disheartening situation. The attendant, displaying a noticeable demeanor of dissatisfaction, informed me that they were completely out of luxury cars and presented me with only two alternative options: a ***** and a two-door Mustang. Neither of these alternatives aligns with the caliber of luxury vehicles I had expected when making my reservation.This experience has left me profoundly dissatisfied and raises concerns about the effectiveness of Dollar Rent A Car's reservation and service procedures, especially given the considerable lead time provided for my reservation. I look forward to a **************** and an assurance that such lapses in service quality will be addressed to prevent similar instances in the future.

      I rented a car from this establishment and it broke down. It took over 24 hours for them to tow it. No other car was offered to me until I got ******************* I rented the car from. I was getting on my plane to go home. After I had to take Lyfts to get around town. All they have offered me is a $50 gift card towards my next rental. Like Id ever rent from them again! They left me stranded on the side of the road! And sadly they feel like I shouldnt have any monetary return on the rental. I was charged correctly. They sent me that in an email. I wish I could post my screenshot of the email here. So if you rent from this company and the car breaks down. Youre out of luck. And you still get charged for the whole week. Do not rent from Hertz or Dollar Car Rental! **************** was no help at all either! Terrible, terrible, poorly ran company!

      In August I rented an SUV from Dollar at the Orlando Airport. I specifically waived all insurance because I used my Visa credit card and Visa will cover any damage to a rental vehicle in the US. Well, when I checked my Visa credit card bill 6 weeks later my bill from Dollar was about $132 more than it was supposed to be. I called Dollar and was told that they charged me for the Collision Damage Insurance anyway. I don't plan on renting with Dollar anymore.

      We had a prepaid reservation for the Labor Day weekend. We arrived at ****am to pick up our car and were told there were 21 people waiting for cars. We waited 1 and 1/2 hours and were then told there were 31 people ahead of us. They told us if we would pay for an upgrade they could give us a car immediately. We told them in the past companies gave us what they had when it was their fault they overbooked. They refused and said it may be 10 pm, (12 hours since we arrived) before we would get a car. They charged us an additional 120 dollars a day in addition to the 40 we had prepaid. That comes out to 160 a day. There is not ever a car on their site that is more than 94 a day. It was no more than a bait and switch. They just over booked and then forced people to pay the extra or they would not give them a car in any reasonable amount of time. This is fraud and breach of contract. I reached out for the upgrade charge to be taken off and they of course said no. This should be reported as fraud as they purposely overbooked and then forced people to pay for the upgrade and then charged them almost double from what even the upgrade would have cost. We ended up paying $680 for a 4 day rental. Obviously they should be investigated for this bait and switch but certainly their status downgraded by you. Horrible horrible company

      If I could rate a zero, I would. Flew into *** on 9/1 with a reservation that had been made over 6 weeks in advance, and pre-paid. Waited in line for over two hours just to be told the wait could be another 3-5 hours to sign paperwork, and then ANOTHER 3-6 hours to get a car. Mind you, all this was occurring at 9:00 PM and we were from the midwest - 2 hours later to our bodies. We were literally left stranded and left to our on defenses to find a car at that hour of the night on a holiday weekend. **** came through with flying colors (after a 20+ minute walk with all our luggage in a not so great part of LA) with a car and helpful staff.To add insult to injury, I called to get a refund on my cancellation and it took over 30 minutes on the phone, made it seem they were doing me a big favor even though they could not provide a vehicle for us. And strike 3, checked credit card statement and received $100 less than the expected refund. Had to call back again and was told I was charged a "cancelation" fee. ********* very quickly to a manager who promptly refunded the extra $100, although still waiting for it to appear on my card.The incompetency here is mind boggling and borderline criminal. There were numerous families with small children and babies that did not have the same ability to fend for themselves, and they were likely looking to spend the night in a Hertz-Dollar rental car center. Absolutely awful!All this on the heels of ******* well known issue of having renters arrested for allegedly stealing cars they had legally rented. I cannot emphasize enough - DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY.
