1 starI went to the MCO to rent a car at Dollar rental. I was in line and a who said her name was Hamina. She was in the Thrifty counter said can I help you. I told her yes, I rented my car from the dollar. She responded in a sarcastic tone. I wouldn't ask to help you if I would not be able to help you. I was shocked by her comment. You are in the thrifty counter. She again repeated her sarcastic comment. You're extremely rude. I would like to speak to the manager. She then said OK go stand at the end of the counter. Another representative asked can she help me I told her I was waiting for a manager, and then she said the supervisor is at the other end of the counter. To my surprise the rude individual that was speaking to me was already the supervisor. I then waited 25 minutes to wait for a manager whose name was Jose threatened me and said there are cameras here and he will pull the cameras and find out exactly what happened. OK , that's fine. her behavior is unprofessional and rude. Jose said I was holding up the line. I asked him how I was holding up the line I'm waiting at the end of the counter where she told me to stand. Jose continued to speak rude to me and then starts to say honestly ma'am, at that point I walked away from him because he was very rude tone and while I walked away he made a statement and said "honestly you people" I said excuse me you people. You people, what? Explain to me about you people? I would like to note I am an African American woman. I truly do take that as a racial comment. I went to a representative that was completing my reservation and while he was completing my reservation Jose walked behind him and spoke to him in another language. I asked if he can repeat that in English? Jose responded no. At the completion of my reservation I was overcharged $38. I believe Jose told him to do this when he spoke to the representative in their language. I have never been treated so disrespectfully and felt so racially discriminatedReview fromWon Y

1 starAbsolutely horrendous. Wish I could give them zero stars. Day late because of airplane issues. Prepaid a weeks worth of rental with a vehicle. Told me I was late over 24 hours and the reservation was canceled. I can understand if they rented out all of their vehicles, but they had a lot full of cars. Told them cool, give me back my money. Told me no. Spoke to corporate. No help. I will NEVER work with this company again. I encourage everyone to do the same. Went down to National and told them what I was going through. Rented me a vehicle right away. Told me they would never treat me this way. I believe them. Go with another choice. Do not use Dollar.Review fromKen T

1 starThis is from the location at the Buffalo, NY airport: 1. The agent was deceptive about the toll fees. I asked what the average tolls in the area were like and he told me that the $111 I was charged would be much cheaper than the tolls. This was an outright lie. From what I saw, I had $5 worth of tolls. Not a typo. Five dollars. 2. Despite booking my reservation two weeks in advance, I had to wait nearly two hours to receive my car. Not in line, just waiting for the location to provide a car. I was not alone with this problem. 3. The car was not clean, despite this being the claim for the long wait above. There was cigarette ash on the dashboard, the car was muddy, and it had not been sanitized. I also plan to contact my credit card company and the NY attorney general's office regarding the deceptive practices from this company's location.Review fromRoberta B

1 starIn april my wife and I took a trip with another couple to las vegas. We used priceline to book everything including the car rental. When we arrived at the desk the agent insisted we upgrade from economy car to midsize for more room which was only a 30 dollar upgrade. When we booked the car was only 67 dollars through priceline so 30 dolloar upgrade is a good deal. still under 100. When bringing the car back we noticed that the agent has added a bunch of upgrade fees such as added driver, added insurance, location recovery etc. That brought the car to $397!! I told the agent that I did not ask for those upgades and after filling out forms that took an hour to fill out he assured me that I would not be charged. I was charged anyway and the original amount of 97 as well!! I filed a complaint with discover and after months of investigation dollar was awarded their 397 and 97 dollars. I hope dollar is happy with scamming a disabled veteran out of that money.Review fromsean s

1 starMy experience with Dollar Car Rental was like a nightmare! I booked a car through booking.com for total $301.16 and paid to booking.com $190.59. The rest of $110.57 is taxes, which would be paid at Phoenix Airport location. On Tuesday night, June 27, 2023, I went to Dollar Rental after a long flight and was received by a Dollar Employee. After giving all my booking info to him, he told me that the total is $381.10, which shocked me. I showed him the booking.com receipt and told him that I already paid $190.59 to booking.com and the rest balance is $110.57, not $381.10. He told me that he was unable to see the $190.59 in Dollar’s computer system and this was why $381.10. And later, he asked me about the rental car insurance. I told him that I have both collision and comprehensive through GEICO, and Capitol One, my credit card company also covers my car rental insurance. I found that the Dollar Employee is extremely difficult and unreasonable, and wanted to talk to a manager there. He said he was the only one there for the rest of night. Two hours having passed, and it was almost 9:00 pm at night. I was tired after a long flight and extremely distraught at the time. Finally, I gave him my credit card, and told him just giving me the car and I will talk to Dollar Rental later. Then he walked me to a parking lot and gave me the car. At the exit, a parking lot employee scanned the car and told me that the car was under maintenance and I needed to drive it back and to get different car. It was dark and the parking lot is huge and has many floors. I did not know where I was and was confused. I begged the parking lot employee to help me return the car. I have to say that this was the worst experience I’ve ever had in my life.Review fromtracey H

1 starI wasn't allowed to leave zero stars, which is what they deserve. From looking at these reviews, I doubt Dollar even cares what their customers have to say about them. I had booked a car at LAX. There were about 40 people waiting, and 3 counter agents, 2 at times. When I finally got to the counter, after 45 minutes, I was told that I rented an electric car. I did not see that, nor was I informed it could have been an electric car when I booked the managers special. I had appointments to get to and didn't want to run the risk of getting a car that wasn't fully charged. I asked for another option and was told "that's what the Managers special is today" It does actually state, managers special or similar, which I pointed out. The counter agent could've cared less. When I asked to speak to the manager, he was even ruder than the counter agent- he only went by Eric, no one seemed to know his last name, including Eric himself. He refused to give me his last name, was disrespectful, and actually turned his back and walked away when I asked for his last name. I will never rent with Dollar again. They have absolutely no customer service, and aren't ashamed to show that to the customer. I travel frequently , and have never encountered the attitudes, and lack of respect that I encountered here. And this was management!Review fromApril R

1 starMy family and I booked a full size SUV nearly a month ago for a long awaited trip. We had not been on vacation in over 5 years and were so excited. We arrive to the Orlando International Airport at midnight, pick up our suitcases and head to Dollar Car rental desk only to find a huge line. We waited 45 minutes in line and present all that is needed. It did not seem the preregister ck in did any good but we were patient. We were told to go to the garage and pick up the car only to find an even longer line with about 80 people in front of us. We again took a deep breath and waited FOREVER. My mom whom is a cancer survivor had a tough time standing and my grandson was so very tired (as we all were). We waited in that line for 4 1/2 hours!! My grandson fell asleep on the concrete ground. That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever experienced. When it was our turn for a car, we were told that they did not have any FULL SIZE SUV’S but could offer a midsize SUV. We took it as it was 5am in the morning and we still had an hour and half drive to our Air BNB. When we left there, it was 5:14am!! Over 5 hours waiting for a car that I booked nearly a month ago. I’d like a courtesy refund for the outrageous inconvenience that was caused to myself and my family as well as a refund for the smaller car that we had to cram into (instead of the more comfy full size SUV). It was a horrible start to what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation.Review fromJohn L

1 starTerrible experience at the *******************************, *********. First, there was only one employee serving Dollar, Thrifty, and Hertz. The line was extremely long and it took two hours to receive service. Then, as I was driving the vehicle the air conditioning failed and the car began to overheat- dangerously so. I called Dollar and they transferred me to roadside assistance. Unbelievably, they told me to drive back to the pickup location! I explicitly stated that I did not feel safe driving the vehicle. Eventually, they agreed to tow it away. I called Dollar back and they told me I had to go back to the service counter (and wait another 2+ hours?) to receive a new car. Also, they refused to help me in any meaningful way and refused to give me the Dollar counter direct number - they told me it was on their website. I went to the website and the only phone number available was the number I had just called!I feel that I deserve a refund but I think it will be very difficult to do so.
