Dollar is flat out a dishonest company. I just rented a vehicle in Boston for 3 days which was $136. The vehicle did not have a full tank when I picked it up so I took a picture of the dash showing 335 miles remaining in the tank. I drove it for 3 days and then returned it with 360 miles remaining. Upon returning they charged me for returning the vehicle at 88% stating that it was 100% at pickup. They charged me $22 extra for 2 gallons of gas as well as a parking charge of roughly $12 with a final charge of $165. So they fraudulently added $29 to my rental. I sent a complaint but have heard nothing back. I will not book anything from ************** in the future and will not do business with Dollar ever again. They are criminals. No way to talk with anyone so they simply steal your money on up charges which are not accurate which they hope customers will simply give up and let them keep what they stole. I, however will find ways to make Dollar pay one way or another which will cost them far more than the $29 they stole from me in future lost business from many more people than just myself. I will also antagonize Dollar managers at all airport locations & warn every person waiting for a car by handing them a flyer advising them exactly what they must be on guard for with their Dollar rental to protect themselves from being overcharged. Dollar Overcharge Warning Flyer 1) Document tank level with lot attendant before leaving facility. (If not full get a signature to confirm this or get them to give you a vehicle which is full) 2) Take picture of fuel gauge & odometer to prove the mileage on the vehicle at both pick & upon return. Do not assume they will get it right upon return. They know you can’t contact them once you leave. 3) Take video with phone around entire outside of vehicle so you are not charged for previous damage on the vehicle. 4) Closely verify emailed or texted receipt to insure there are not additional charges you did not authorize.

I booked a rental car for pick up at Rochester Airport via the Economybookings.com website. I got a price lock deal. The deal was that I can get any salon car and I was ok about that. But when I reached there, I was told that I have to take the EV. I refused to accept that car as no where in the deal it was mentioned that the car will be an EV. I have to now return the car fully charged. Since I was not comfortable doing that, I was made to wait for 45 mins until they could arrange for a non EV car. I finally got one, but was charged an extra $72 for changing the car option. But I did not sign up for an EV in the first place..... Why should I be penalized? I could have gone for any other vehicle of my choice without going for the deal price as I ended up paying more in total. Worst experience....will never go for dollar again.

I rented a vehicle today (11/30/24), and it has been the worse experience ever! I get on the road and 30 minutes in the wheel or something is making a noise. I call to report it and the lady (******) was very rude. I tried yo resolve the matter and she responded by saying, "girl bye"! I lost it after that because what gives you the right to disrespect a paying customer who called in to report a mechanical issue with your company car!!! I called back three times and she hung up the phone on me. I will never rent a vehicle from them again. Maybe Dollar Rental Car can hire more respectful, educated and qualified people to be the face of their company! I had too pick a star rating but it's zero!!

Charged us extra and there is no customer service to explain why. When I called them to their customer service number the agent tried to get me to pay an additional amount to receive a refund for the extra money that was charged to my credit card. When I asked why I have to pay to receive a refund he hung up on me. When I dialed the number again the new agent told me a had the wrong number. They tried to scam me out of more money. DO NOT BOOK WITH DOLLAR CAR RENETAL!! My receipt said my total was $492.17 and I was charged $1032.83

This complaint is not filed at an employee per se but I was charged double from my originally quoted price and was told that "there would be no price increase". The price increase was from the loss waiver that I was told was unwaiverable.. apparently this is not the case per the auto insurance company. This occurred at the ************* location on November 25th 2024. I appreciate you taking the time to read this, I just want this made right

I booked a car online through priceline and paid a desposit for a price lock on the daily rate out of ORD. The day before my flight, I was asked to check in online. I did so. The rate on the screen was as expected. When I landed it and it was time to select my car, I couldn't get past an error screen, so I went to the desk for help. They did not honor my locked in daily rate and did not notify me of the upcharge. I have reached out to dollar online as that is the only way to receive support, and I have gotten no response and no refund of the difference.

I don't write bad reviews but this was blatant lies at the counter. The person renting next to me asked the agent about toll fees incurred last time she rented with exorbitant fees billed after. They reassured her and I realized the same thing happened to me 4 years ago. I asked the agent because there was an extra fee for the 3 day rental if you prepurchase tolls. I told them were I was headed and wouldn't even be using the car for the 2 days, only to & from the airport. They said there were no tolls on the route and if I did happen to go through one, then it would be the toll fee plus $10. I said are you sure and the response was yes. The agents lied to both of us. I was charged an extra $27.99/day (almost the price of the rental) x 3 days for 1 $4 toll that I was rerouted on waze. I had been taking **** the last few years, but decided to rent a car again at the ************** to go to my yoga retreat at *******. I'm quite Zen and try to roll with what is, but this is robbery that is happening across the board. There are no toll agents, no choice when a car passed and it should be the rental car company policy to be very transparent as to what will be charged after the fact.
