1 starApril 21 2023. Waiting in line over 2 hours for our RESERVED car. Hundreds of people in line and only 2 working at the counter. This manager needs fired. Absolutely no plan for staffing around these circumstances. The customers were upset and cranky as well as the employees. NEVER AGAIN!! DONT RENT FROM THE TAMPA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT LOCARION.Review fromMisty C

1 starMy rating is zero. I rented online through my Southwest app. I got a small car for us to scoot around in while visiting our kids in Arizona. When we got to the rental place at the Arizona airport the guy said our luggage wouldn’t fit in the small car and asked if we wanted to upgrade. I asked how much it would cost because I had a budget and I not owed $184 for the rental. He said it would only be $147 for the week, I asked again to confirm that’s all I was gonna pay and he said yes $147 for the week. I had to add my husband as a driver so my total was going to be $241.50. The put a hold on our card of $700 which locked our card for the week. I called the next day to get an understanding of why it was so much and the girl basically walked me through the line by line of charges. Well I had two different receipts they gave me with two different charges that were not even what they were holding on my card. Hey said there was nothing they could do. They wouldn’t even pull my original rental up to view. So we couldn’t use our card all week. When we returned the car, my card was charged $552.80 which wasn’t even what was on either receipt nor was it anywhere near what I was told I would have to pay. I got a survey from them so I gave my survey with much frustration for what happened and no help given. They said they would reach out to clear things up but nothing. Every time I call they say there is nothing they can do. I am now sending a letter to the bankruptcy court that Better Business Bureau linked to this company to try and get my money back and I have my credit card company trying to help. I am so mad over this. These people are fraudulent and seem to be getting away with it at my expense. I will never rent a car from this company or any of the affiliates. You will get ripped off in some way if you rent from them. Just save yourself the headache and stay away.Review fromScott B

1 starDO NOT USE THE SAN ANTONIO, TX AIRPORT LOCATION!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I go by my middle name, but my driver's license and credit cards clearly show my full name. An idiot named Genesis denied my reservation because Expedia refers to me by my middle name, not my first. Genesis said Expedia had to fix it and send the reservation back to Dollar. Expedia said they can't fix it because the reservation is now in Dollar's computer system. I tried just making a new reservation, but it was $200 more. Ended up using ******** and paid $160 more than my original Dollar reservation. I'll be visiting this location to talk to Genesis's boss very soon. SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE FOR A RENTAL!!!Review fromMelissa B

1 starWhen I got my car - no one at the desk was told to see the clerk at the hertz desk - The car I was to get was not available but he gave me a different car with less miles and it was a upgrade but did not charge me.Very hard to get a hold of - rented a car and the next day noticed that none of the cars radio and screen was working - tried to reach them by phone and could not get through - went on line and sent 2 emails - got no response. When I went to return the car - there was only one person at the return and I was going to talk with them about the car - well I waited in line for a very very long time and the clerk was just chatting away with the customer - oh I forgot to mention that there were 4 people behind me in line. I had to catch my plane so i just left the keys. The next day I tried to call them to let them know about the problems we had with the car - so that the next person would not have the same problem - the person I spoke with could have cared less what I was telling her. I asked if they would be compensating me for this and she said it was already billed and she could not do anything for this rental but could give me something for the next rental - I said i did not know when I would be getting another rental and well that was it.Review fromDawn H.

1 starI rented a car from Dollar Rental Car through Priceline which was paid on full to be picked up at the Ontario airport. We arrive to pick up at around 10:30 am and had to wait in like for over an hour. The woman at the desk was very rude and purposely slow. The car she gave us was not what was requested or similar it was a pick up truck. We rented a that held 5 ( Priceline’s managers special) and fuel efficient car for a reason because my mom was having surgery and we needed a car to transport her in as I was coming in from out of town and had to be there 7 days. She gave us a Ford Edge and said it would be an extra $70 per day but she would give us her discount of $40. We told her thats not what we ordered and she said we had to upgrade. She told us we didn't have a choice since they didn't have any cars available but the lot was full of cars. We got in the car. It was filthy! This car appeared as if it had not been touched since the last drop off. We drove to the gate and told the guy what a mess it was. It wrote down the issues and said they would issue a partial refund when we returned the car. I looked at my receipt after leaving and saw that they charged me $322. In addition to the $236.29 charged by Priceline for upgrading to a Ford Edge
I never asked for!! We returned the car The whole charge was there but the receipt never shows anything about Priceline charges as well as the upgrade charge being added! I called Priceline (Karl) customer service and was told they didn’t have a copy of the charges made by Dollar Car rental and that I needed to make a dispute with Dollar. I tried over and over to contact Dollar but can’t get past the automated service. Also filled out a survey and asked for a call and never heard from anyone! Terrible company and customer service. Over priced and unethical. Stay clear!Review fromMeredith D

1 starHorrible customer service.
I reserved a car from Dollar in Minneapolis airport. When we arrived, they were backed up over an hour & we were on a tight schedule, so I rented from another company & then cancelled my reservation with Dollar. The day after my return home, I received a bill from Dollar for the rental plus charges for an additional day. Most likely my paperwork was mixed up with another customer, despite assurances that they would cancel my reservation.
Errors are fine, we are all human.
However, my subsequent experience with customer service was absolutely unacceptable.
I called and was initially told that everything would be credited back to my account. However, that did not happen. I subsequently spent hours on various phone trees both nationally and through the MSP office, trying to find a human representative to address my issue without success. I called 3 or 4 separate times requesting to talk directly to a manager and each time, after prolonged holds, was told none were available. One time I was told I would receive a phone call back later and this did not happen. Additionally, I worked the issue via email. I was told to allow 48-72 hours for addressing the issue and, after time passed, I emailed back and would not receive responses for days at a time. I would email back weekly asking for updates to my complaint and would not receive responses for over a week. Finally, after 6 weeks of this, I received an email that simply said that no charges would be made and that they hoped I would use Dollar in the future. I also disputed the charge with my CC company and they have yet to receive direct contact from Dollar about the charges. After having shared my experience with others, other people report horrible customer service from Dollar as well. It seems the poor service is the norm for this company rather than an exception. Had I not been so persistent, the company would have made $ off services not rendered. I will never use this company again.Review fromRudolph T

1 starThey will not honor 3rd party rental sites. Beware. I paid $200+ through hotels.com, including insurance and was only to have to pay another $140 at pickup. $1800 later they refuse to refund my money after lying to me about the price and I can't get my money back from hotels.com either after nothing I paid to them was taken out of the cost dollar charged me. How have they been allowed to continue to operate with so many people having the same issues??? Where is the justice???
