      Reserved a vehicle through rentalcars.com and thrifty.com. Received confirmation that everything was a go. Arrive to pick up and told, "nothing available". This is unacceptable. After speaking to one representative I learned something new. Apparently it is common practice to reserve a vehicle, but not guarantee a vehicle. Idiotic practice. I had a friend drop me off, then 30minutes later had to have another friend pick me up from rental location. Uber was going to cost me $35 to return home. Thanks for nothing, Thrifty. - ****** off in *******, **.

      Improper business practices: I booked the Dollar rental car through Alaska Airlines partners. On the day of travel, the flight was canceled. I couldn't edit the reservation online, so I called Dollar directly. First, the Dollar agent wouldn't honor the price: it was going to cost an additional $150 (for less one day)! I couldn't swing this, so I asked the agent to cancel the reservation. The agent said he'd cancel it. I asked if I'd receive an email confirmation & he said "no, Dollar doesn't send confirmation mails" and suggested I check the status online. *This is obviously fishy.* Hours later, I checked online and the car HADN'T been canceled. I called Alaska Air & was told ALL changes must be done through Alaska - since that's how I made the reservation. They canceled the car AND sent a confirmation mail. The Dollar agent LIED. Had I not checked online, I would've been charged $400. This wasn't a training issue, since the agent said he'd canceled the reservation. He obviously had no way to do this. This unethical behaviour is Dollar attempting to scam customers. (The Alaska Air agent was great.)

      I reserved a rental car through Priceline with Dollar Rental A Car (Dollar) at DTW, Detroit International Airport for pickup on 08/31/22. Prior to pickup I presented my proof of insurance, secured through my CitiVisa Card. I presented the Dollar clerk with my proof of insurance; she made a copy of it, acknowledged it with my receipt, and I continued on with my rental. A few weeks after my trip, when doing my monthly CitiVisa statement accounting, I came to find a charge of $191.40 for Liability insurance and fees from Dollar which I did NOT authorize NOR agree to. After first contacting Dollar, to no avail nor satisfaction, CitiVisa went to bat for me, recognized the false charge and credited the $191.40. It is now approximately 6 months later; after multiple attempts and threats by Dollar (and its' parent Hertz) to 'get around' CitiVisa decision, they now have issued me a letter stating my privilege to rent from them in the future is... "cancelled due to your (me) failure to pay the outstanding charges owed by you (me) to Dollar". They continue to harass me for their error (at best), fraud (at worst) and attempt to penalize and/or criminalize me. Beware that Dollar Rent A Car and its' parent Hertz, make it next to impossible to talk directly to a human-being. Furthermore, when you actually get a real human being on the phone, it is just a clerk that cannot/will not get you to a person of authority. It's a system designed to wear you down and hope you just give up. Buyer beware of Dollar Rent A Car and Hertz deceptive practices.

      This company is so sleazy. The man at the counter asked me if I wanted to purchase extra insurance coverage (CDL, etc). I said no. I specifically said I did not want to pay any extra money that I had already paid when I prepaid on the internet. He said, "ok, I understand." He then asked me to sign some credit card machine looking thing that I did. He then handed me the keys and a pamphlet, sent me on my way. Only when I got to my hotel did I see he charged me for the exact thing I verbally told him I did not want. He verbally confirmed this with me at the counter. So sleazy. When I returned the car, I spoke with the manager who gave me a $75 coupon for the next time I rent from Dollar. He told me I had to rent on the Dollar website and click the 'Pay at the Counter' option when renting my car. Well, lo and behold, this is what I just tried to do but the 'Pay Later' option is $95 more expensive! The manager surely knew this. So not only is the guy who dealt with me at the counter sleazy, so is the manager! Stay clear of this company! They don't have any morals!!

      Worst experience with Dollar Rental. Had a reservation and the car was not available when I arrived in Orlando. I reserved a luxury vehicle and ended up in a Dodge pickup. Had to return to the airport two days later to exchange the truck for another vehicle. When I had returned home and received my credit card statement, they had overcharged me $242. Tried to call them and was put on hold for 30 minutes then they disconnected the call. I booked it through Priceline and they were no help either in getting my refund. Avoid both companies.

      If I could give this company a 0 star rating, I would. I rented a car with Dollar Car Rental in October 2022 with frequent flyer miles. When I picked up the car I was told I had to have a credit card on file and given paperwork with my charge. It wasn't explained to me in any way. A charge of $236.98 was charged to my card. I contacted my bank and disputed the charge. The claim was honored and the charged was revoked. However, I began getting bills sent to my home. After refusing to pay the charge, it was forwarded to a collection agency. I am VERY disappointed in this company's business practices. I have no idea how they are still in business. I now have to dispute the charges again!

      I'm being VERY generous with giving "1" Star to Car Trawler, and Psst that I have too BBB. PLEASE TAKE HEED...Before anyone books ANY car rental service online, please make sure that they're not in bed with this 3rd party unethical, unprofessional Consumer abuser, called CAR TRAWLER!!!. Unbeknownst to me, I was unaware that Dollar Car Rental outsourced my PAID IN FULL car rental to Car Trawler; that I NEVER picked up or ever utilized. Dollar canceled my car rental (12/21/2022) without any cancellation fee; apologized for the inconvenience, was professional, accommodating and was on a conference call with me and Car Trawler requesting that they refund me; of which they have ignored and continue to do so today. Dollar Car Rental continues to work with me in this stressful matter today, and have been on three (3) conference calls trying to get this matter resolved. This outright abuse towards Consumers in the United States, Car Trawler will never be ignored or tolerated!. Car Trawler, I do expect you to do the right thing and send my refund in the amount of $296. If you require ANY supporting documentation from me, Dollar Car Rent or my credit card company (Affirm), please let me know and I'll send it to you immediately. An unsatisfied Consumer/Customer of Dollar Rental Car

      ****, I shoulda read the reviews. Got what I thought was a good rate thru AAA, but this location charged a pile of extra fees (including additional driver fees which AAA said would not be charged) AND delivered me a gross filthy car--I mean the s*** on the passenger side door handle, I only HOPE was sun lotion. Return is super slow so that you get anxious about making your flight, they say NOTHING and ask if you want the receipt emailed, after which you see the illegal charges. When you contact Dollar they say, "You accepted the bill at checkout!" SUPER SLEAZEBAGS DON'T EVER RENT FROM DOLLAR ANYWHERE!!

      I booked on line a vehicle from Dollar car rental at the ************ INTL airport on December 2022 for a couple of weeks but decided to return it the following day which means I only ended up renting the car for a day. I was informed that I would get my deposit in 7 to 10 days from the day I return the car. It has been over a month and I have not been credited for my deposit yet. I have called five times and I've talked twice with a supervisor. It appears that they all continue to say that corporate will be releasing the funds but I have yet to see my account credited. This company has poor customer service and appears not to care about customers. This rental car company is a scam. someone needs to look into their business practices.
