I am waiting 3 days to hear back from their escalations team about their agent fraudulently charging me and now giving their company 24 hours to hear back or I will have my bank return the payment due to fraud.

Waited in line for an hour. They told me about the pre-paid fuel add-on but I declined. Then they said they would give me the pre-paid fuel add-on for free to make up for making me wait so I accepted. After returning the car, I was charged $64 for it anyway. When I submitted a support request asking them to refund me, the response I got was "No refunds."Charged me $34 a day for being 24 years old (This fee was not listed online and nearly matches the cost of the rental itself). Also charged me over $80 for "toll pass administration fees"There were more hidden fees too. After everything, I ended up paying about $1000 to rent a ***** Malibu for a week. That car was supposed to cost me $370 for the week when I ordered it. Total scam.

NEVER AGAIN!I've rented from Dollar before without a problem, but a horrible experience in Jan. 2023 wiped out all previous good experiences. Similar to ****** Airlines, being a loyal customer gets you nothing; they don't return the loyalty. When you book through Booking.com or other third-party booking companies, Dollar washes their hands of any problems & turns you over to the booking company...only after wasting hours/days of your time (if you can get ahold of anyone, extremely difficult & frustrating) collecting details again & again via different agents who don't really care. They act like they want to help, but it's just lip service, there is nobody home who cares, it's abundantly obvious. They know right up front from your rental record #/booking # that you booked through a third party, but they still waste your time and don't tell you you're on your own until after extensive runaround to wear you down. The car they provided was a tin can, poor ergonomics & uncomfortable. When I asked the counter agent what else was available, knowing the make was poor quality, he told me that was the only car unless I wanted to upgrade. Of course. Then, no one answered the direct phone nbr he gave me to try to exchange it if it was unacceptable after driving it, which it was. I called numerous times over the next two days...zip. At the end of the rental period, I explained the situation to a different agent (only one agent was on duty at a time at the ******************** location). She told me she'd issue a partial credit if I could wait in line; I couldn't because I had a flight to catch. She assured me that their customer service would do the same; they didn't. After days of trying to reach them via every means possible, I finally got a response to my experience survey and a ********* on their FB page, saying they don't issue credits and would only issue a $50 certificate for future use. I refused; I'd rather avoid the pain of ever dealing with them again. RIP OFF!

I call my travel discount company RCI. Paid for car. when i went to get car they could charge card on the card given over phone. plus my wife had that card at home. i was by myself. so used another card . to pay for something i paid for already. i thought the pre payment was to hold car. then, i was supposed to get a Malibu. when i got down stairs they didn't have one, they said we can give you a SUV for the same price. Ok i thought that was cool. but later looking at receipt. they already planned switch to SUV. bait and switch . ********. so they charge me for daily rental and insurance, and adding another driver for only 13 dollars not daily that was not mentioned. so i was charged twice and they added insurance way more than they said. lies, scammers, cheats, shameful, despicable people. i would buy cheap used car off the street before i ever rent a car again, or use lift or uber. I will get my money back. I will be turning this over to my LegalShield law firm. they will have a hay day with them. just read these reviews i,m not the only one, this was Dollar rental in Daniel airport in Honolulu, Waikiki.

Dollar Car Rental has a recent unethical practice of automatically, instantaneously, charging your credit card for fuel, even though you turn the vehicle you rented from them, with a full tank of fuel (gas). They automatically charge the credit card they have on record for you, for fuel, and then require you to email them a receipt for gas.You have to proof you have a receipt for gas, even though the vehicle return attendant saw the vehicle had a full tank of gas. They will not refund you the unauthorized charge on your credit card ($136.30 in my case) if you can't send Dollar Car Rental a receipt online..When I checked out the vehicle, I declined their fuel option and informed the attendant that I always return rented vehicles with a full tank of gas (as I have done in the past ***** times, including from Dollar Car Rentals). He stated to fuel the car with a full tank of gas close to the airport, and keep the receipt IN CASE the car return attendant should ask for it. I did so and refueled the car close to the airport for $1.51 (I had refueled to a full tank the night before). When I arrived at the Car Rental Return facility of the airport, an attendant checked my rental car, including the fuel gauge and stated, "All is good, have a nice flight". She never asked for the fuel receipt, so I went on my way to the terminal. On the way to terminal, I discarded unnecessary items in my pockets, including the fuel receipt, since the attendant didn't ask for it, and saw the fuel gauge indicated a full tank. This is a unethical/unscrupulous business practice because, if the receipt was of that importance, the vehicle check out attendant should have informed me to keep the receipt, and not "IN CASE THE ATTENDANT SHOUD ASK FOR IT".In the past times I have rented vehicles, and never had this situation of automatically charging unscrupulously a monetary charge that was not bona fide.

Rented car online and prepaid with understanding that an additional charge for fees/taxes, etc would occur at pick up. Did NOT opt for additional insurance and this was reflected in total charge on our confirmation. BEWARE! When we picked up car we gave our credit card and signed. No one at that time asked about insurance. When we got home from trip, we discovered we had been charged an additional $378 for insurance coverage that is noted as "accepted". When we complained to the company, we were told by customer service, a manager, and corporate that we had accepted the options and in "good faith"??? They gave partial refund. So they added the options unknowingly, but because we signed. We "accepted" it??!!?? BEWARE! RIP OFF!

I rented a car from Dollar in January 2023. The line to pick up the car was over four hours long. I waited from 1230 to 445 AM...the entire night. I rented a full size and ended up with a car so small, I could pick it up and carry it with me. They charged me for insurance that I did not want. When I tried to get in touch with them, the only way you could contact them was via email and then they refused to refund my money. Truly a terrible experience.

I left a backpack In a car at 10pm at night with medicine, car keys, laptop, Ipad, sungalssss and more! Absolutely no one will help. I called and no one would transfer me to anyone at the branch. The local branch would not pick up. I had to go there and now 5 days later no one will look at the cameras and no one will look to see who rented after me. It would not be difficult to help! Absolutely the worst customer service ever. I made an executive complaint and still no help.

We prepaid for the car via Woking Advantage. When we arrived we waited 2 hours for the car. There were at least 30 people at the rental counter and of course hardly anyone at any other rental counter. Once we finally arrived at the counter, we were informed that their current car renal prices were cheaper than what we prepaid and were told it would be better if we modified the reservation so that we could save money. Instead however, I charged more than double what I paid for my original reservation, for paying paying an undisclosed daily "upgrade fee" for my 12 day rental. I've called customer service numerous times and they have denied my request for a refund. I will NEVER rent from here again

******* CUSTOMERS BEWARE of the lies Dollar/Thrifty car reps tell you. Do not believe that it costs over $30 a day to drive from hotel area to ******* They sucker you into a SunPass for $13 a day, because they tell you lies that you need it. We spent $1.75 and $2.75 leaving airport, drove all week NO TOLLS, and the same 2 tolls returning car to airport. LIARS. Then they tell you gas is the same price at car return so don't fill up car, have them do it. OK sounds good. LIARS!! They charge you more money and charge you a full tank of gas no matter how much gas you use. I returned my car with 3/4 gas left in car. Thinking i will only pay for the cost to top it off to full. NO!! I paid for a full tank. BEWARE. Will never use them again!!
