      I reserved a rental for a car in *********, flew into town, got to the rental car place, and got turned down for being under the age of 25. The policy online clearly states that customers under ***************************************************************************************************************** and was very rude. I attempted to speak with the manager to explain the situation but the manager would not take the time to come out of the office and speak with me. I am currently stranded in ********* without a rental car and no way to get anywhere. I know I am young for a business owner but I currently own and operate a security company I founded that protects ATM machines. I have an extremely important business meeting with a President of a bank that cannot be missed. I was relying on the policy as stated online and dollar car rental did not hold up on their end. I will never rent a car through dollar again and strongly suggest that anyone on a schedule stays away from this company as they will drop the ball and not follow through with what is stated online.

      Dollar rental car has a lot of hidden fees that they call "adminstrative." Companies should not be allowed to generically charge people for anything. They will charge you $15 + taxes for every license plate scan at tolls. You read that right, for every scan. Also they will not refund you for the car if you have to turn it in early. I had an emergency that took me out of the country so used the car for 2 out of 4 days. It's just robbery. Also the austin airport Dollar rental was like being in the 1980s with a ridiculous long line and slow service. Do not use them and do not use a 3rd party either. It's double the headache to deal with any issue.

      Like others, I experienced serious upcharges with Dollar. I booked through AAA, which I trust. Quoted price was $426 for six days. By the time Dollar was done adding fees--most of which they didn't tell us about--we were charged $858. Twice as much. They also wouldn't allow us to decline insurance, although we had our own. I will never use them again.

      We paid for a rental car from Dollar Car Rental at the airport in ******-****, ****** prior to picking up the car. Once at the car rental location the clerk told me that since it was rented through a third party she couldn't access the information even though I gave her the reference number which she did access but lied and told me I had to pay her. Since I don't know the inner workings at Dollar Car Rental I believed her and gave her another credit card to charge. We were charged $350.00 for the rental which included $60.00 for insurance and then another $283.00 for extra insurance that we didn't need and didn't request. The clerk charged me $283.00 for insurance and not for the car rental since that was already paid for. These people scammed me out of money. I called Dollar Car Rental to explain the issue and the representative said since we had already paid the extra $60.00 for insurance that I would be refunded the entire $283.00 that was fraudulent and gave me a reference number - XXXXXXXX. I called today and I was told that my claim was denied because I signed the contract. I was lied to and swindled by this company. Do not pay them in advance and make sure you read their fraudulent contracts before driving away.

      I reserved a car online, during the reservation process, I declined Collision Protection since my personal vehicle insurance would cover it. When I picked up the vehicle at the Dollar car rental counter, I was asked if I wanted to add the insurance, I answered, NO, When I returned the car and was emailed our receipt, they had added $271.92 for insurance that I did not want. Upon bringing this to their attention via a phone call I was told I approved this charge and they would not issue credit. They sent me a copy of a signed bill with my signature but I didn't get to see the bill. When signing it due to it being on one of the electrical box things that they make you sign without seeing what you're signing for. I did not approve the addition of the insurance, I made it perfectly clear when I picked up the vehicle that I had already declined since my personal insurance would cover it. Dollar car rental added the insurance without my knowledge. In my opinion this was an act of Fraud and I will never rent from Dollar Car rental again and suggest the same to others. I also was mislead with paying for them to fuel my car on return. Which I thought meant I just paid for the fuel needed. Nope you pay for a full tank no mater how much you need. I spoke with customer service and was told, "you signed the contract so you have to pay." I explained that is not how it was sold to me. So def do not sign anything unless you take the time to review every word. Do not go by how it is explained!

      Shady company. Rented in *****. After being back home for a month, received another $90 charge. Stated for tolls of $7.00. $83 of administration fees. When I made an inquiry they told me that I should have purchased their plate pass option which was not offered or explained. Won't use again

      If it would be possible to leave negative stars, that's exactly what I would do. A month prior to traveling I booked a car for the Detroit metropolitan area/airport pick up. I paid in full approximately 45 days in advance. After making my reservation online, I called and confirmed the appointment with a customer service agent. They confirmed and explained all documents needed to pick up the vehicle. Fast forward to the day of the pick up after flying from ********** to *******, I arrive at the pick up counter and I am declined for my vehicle. I'm also told that even though I have paid in full for said vehicle it'll take over a week to receive a proper refund leaving me stranded at the airport I reached out to dollar customer service, and was connected with **************** Representative number ****. Who passed me around on hold for a unreasonable amount of time with no help. Fortunately enterprise Rent-A-Car was down the street and was able to put me in a car in under 30 minutes. Do yourself a solid favor and stay far away from Dollar car rental.

      I called the 866
      number for Dollar car rental
      on a Monday, August 8, 2022. After insisting I do not have a major credit card, Matthew said that they'd wave that requirement and the requirement to show an airline ticket if I would pass * credit check, 2 forms of ID, a $500 deposit. I called back the next day and made a reservation for August 10, 2022. The woman walked me through the same process, insisting I must have a credit card then giving me the work around and then saying that the airline ticket was not mandatory. I agreed to the workaround and she made a reservation for me. The next day, the lady at the counter of Dollar at the Reno Airport refused to honor my reservation which she verified was in her system though I met all the requirements explained to me the 2 days prior because they don't take debit cards. So I asked for a supervisor. I spoke to Val. I got the same response. So, I asked for her supervisor. I got the same response from him, John S., the Reno General Manager. I pleaded and reasoned with him for an hour. He had many thoughts, like that he wasn't personally part of the conversation and so wasn't obliged to honor the agreement. In case he doubted my honesty, I offered to make a 3 way call and repeat the process. He declined because it was irrelevant, he said. In his opinion, he's not obliged to honor the arrangements made through the 800 number. I explained that it was good business to honor the agreements that an organization makes with their customers. He pointed out that it says online that one must have a credit card. I explained that because Dollar had mislead me, I was without a vehicle which I needed. He said I could ask a friend to borrow their credit card. I said, fine. Ill have my son call in. He said, he'll have to come into the counter! I said, that he couldn't do that. John S. would not give me an option that worked for me by bending even that policy. He said that his supervisor wasn't available.

      I want to share my experiences with Dollar rental I recently booked a reservation with them for a small to mid size sedan while in cali for a week let's just say that didn't go so well upon arrival at John Wayne airport sat night it took almost an hour to complete the rental process and get the car that's when I noticed sum issues the trunk lid was off center and hard to close once leaving the airport now dark out I noticed the low beam headlights were facing down and out of adjustment so I had to use the high beams to see while driving at night I called them and reported those issues and wanted to swap out the car they said they didn't have one available yet to do that but would call when they got a smaller car available never heard anything from Dollar rental while driving the car on Thursday a warning malfunction light popped up in the dash I made it to Long Beach harbor and parked vehicle was going to Catalina island for a long day when I got back to the car warning light was off drove it home the next day I drove it back to Dollar rental because the warning light was back on when I turned the vehicle in the guy I dealt with was rude and unprofessional he treated me with a nasty tone because I complained about all the cars issues once turned in and got another car Dollar rental charged me a service fee for returning the car unbelievable a car that was most likely a wrecked vehicle which was reconditioned but yet unsafe to be on the roads iv never been more disrespected in my life Dollar rental values profits then there customers and there safety please as a public service announcement if your ever going to need a rental car steer clear of Dollar rental car

      The constant upselling. Second time renting. This time I was hooked with paying for them to fuel my car on return. Which I thought meant I just paid for the fuel needed. Nope you pay for a full tank no mater how much you need. I spoke with customer service and was told, "you signed the contract so you have to pay." I explained that is not how it was sold to me. No response back. So def do not add anything unless you take the time to review every word. Do not go by how it is explained.
