Dollar does not understand the concept of a "reservation." When I tried to pick up the car I'd reserved at Philadelphia airport, they didn't have any cars available. In fact, they didn't have any cars available for a whole bunch of people who had reservations. So we all had to sit and wait. To make matters worse, later I got an invoice in the mail for a $5 toll plus a $15 administrative fee. I can understand the invoice for the toll, but the additional fee is just ********. Just like that entire company. Never again!

I reserved a car through Expedia with Dollar Car Rental, during the reservation process, I added and paid $80.00 total for the rental period for Collision Protection through Expedia. When my wife and I arrived at our destination and went to the Dollar car rental counter to pick up the rental I was asked if I wanted to add the insurance, I answered, NO, I ONLY WANT THE COLLISION INSURANCE I PAID FOR THROUGH EXPEDIA WHEN I MADE THE RESERVATION. When we returned the car and was emailed our receipt, they had added $234.93 for insurance that I did not want. Upon bringing this to their attention via a phone call I was told I approved this charge and they would not issue credit. I did not approve the addition of the insurance, I made it perfectly clear when we picked up the vehicle that I had already paid for insurance through Expedia. Dollar car rental added the insurance without my knowledge. In my opinion this was an act of Fraud and I will never rent from Dollar Car rental again and suggest the same to others. Beware!

      Dear Ms. Isham:

In the Better Business Bureau review, you indicated that you had an issue with the catalytic converter and the license plates within two weeks after the purchase date.

According to our records, your 2016 Hyundai Accent was purchased on July 07, 2022, and on July 29, 2022, our system reminded you by email to pick up your license plates. Then on August 26, 2022, at 9:47 am, you called the service department with an issue with the alternator.

Please note the dealership provided a limited warranty for 18 months or 18,000 miles, whichever occurs first on the system covered with internally lubricated parts only on the Engine, Transmission, and Differential.

Since the alternator was not under the limited warranty; therefore, the customer is responsible for the replacement cost.

      Best Regards,

I rented a vehicle on 06/16/22 at Las Vegas International Airport and returned it on 06/17/22. Upon return to the resort, I realized I still had the key. I immediately called Dollar Rental to inform them that I would return the key. The agent stated I would be charged 350.00 if the key was not returned. I did return the key on 6/17/22 to the counter agent,Tina, who then contacted the supervisor who authorized the refund of the 350.00. Tina printed me a new receipt to reflect my charges. I waited about 10 days for this to be reflected on my credit card statement. I then called Dollar Rental on 06/27/22 and spoke with Rakeem who stated the credit had been issued and should be reflected in a few days. I then waited a few more days and made contact again on 7/5/22 and spoke with Ashley who stated the credit had not been given and all the contact notes had been deleted. Ashley stated she would make sufficient notes and issue the credit for 350.00 for the returned key. Still today on July 30 there is still no credit. At this point, I will have to file a dispute with my credit card company. I do have proof that I returned the key as Tina printed a new receipt. Rakeem offered to email me a receipt but I told him the counter agent printed a new when I was at the counter. This should already be resolved.

I rented a car from the Dollar Rental at the Memphis, TN airport on 7/25. I drove the car to Dyersburg, TN, which is about 1 hour and 45 minutes north of Memphis. After checking in to my hotel, I got back in the car to go get something to eat, and it wouldn't start. There was also this weird thumping noise coming from the engine. I called the Roadside Assistance offered by Dollar and was advised to not try to jump start the car. The rep then told me that a tow truck would be out to pick up the car in about an hour and a half. This happened at about 9 pm. I then waited for an hour and a half and nobody ever came. I then called Dollar back and I was informed by a rep that nobody had ever been dispatched to come pick up the car. I was then told I would have to wait until the next day.
This was all a terrible inconvenience because I had a job interview the next day on 7/26. Fortunately, a lady who works at the hotel drove me to my interview the next day.
After finishing my interview on 7/26, I then put in another request for a tow truck. I was assured by the rep I spoke with that a truck would be out in an hour and half. Again, after waiting for an hour and a half, nobody showed. I then called back and once again, I was told that nobody had been dispatched. The rep then told me to just leave the car at the hotel. I'm having to wait on a friend from Memphis to come pick me up. This whole situation is totally ridiculous. I can't believe I have to abandon the car. I am also really angry that nobody ever contacted me to let me know that nobody was coming to pick up the car. This company provides HORRIBLE customer service, and I will never do business with them again.

I rented a car for 2 days for $77 (DFW Airport). When I called to extend the car for 1 additional day, the cost of as going to be $105. I returned the car and rented an addition day at they're sister company Thrifty for $65. Company engages in price gauging.

I waited for well over 90 minutes to get to an agent at the Atlanta Airport on July 14th. By the time I got to the agent, the line behind me was just as long as when I had arrived. These companies (including their partner, *******) must know how many people are registered to pick up a car in a certain time frame, but they obviously don't care.

I'll never use this company again - they caused me to miss an imiportant meeting!

In fairness, I had no complaints with the car or the return, etc. It's just totally unreasonable for comsumers to be treated like that!

My wife rented a car in Dulles airport, VA for two week. We drove the car to Orlando. Then she got sick right before we were trying to drive back. We called the company to check if we can drop off the car at Orlando without any charges. The person answer the phone told us we can and there won't have any charges. However, later we got a bill way more than we expected. I called them and was told that $430 was charged because we dropped off the car at different location.

Unbelievably disappointed. Dollar Car rental would get a negative review if it allowed. I reserved and paid $475.00 , four weeks before our arrival. Upon arrival at Orlando Airport (MCO) we had to wait 6 hours for an available car.. We left the airport at 4:50 a.m. There we around 40 other groups also waiting for their rental. Some left and got hotels only to come back in the morning, many other like my party waited and slept on the airport floor. The would not offer any refund, any credit, discount, hotel or taxi fee. If you booked through a 3rd party (Priceline, Expedia, Hotwire) you have zero chance of a refund. If you book directly be prepared to fight tooth and nail over weeks and weeks period time. And you most likely won't get the refund. I will never use Dollar, Alamo, Hertz again. They're all affiliated with each-other. Awful way to do business and put so many families in distress.
