1 starTrip paid in full then come to find out a couple weeks later they're trying to charge me an additional 165$ which doesn't make sense because the car was returned in the same exact conditionReview fromAdolfo M

1 starI'd give 0 stars if possible. They didn't do anything about a major safety issue before giving the car. We made a reservation. 10 minutes before pickup, they told me that they didn't have the vehicle available. An hour and a half later, they called me. The reception guy didn't know what he was doing and it took 30 minutes to check in. They had to give me the car at 4:30 and I got it at 6. The car was shaking since getting it. On our second gas stop, the two front tires were messed up. When we turned the staring wheel, the wires poked out of the tires. We called roadside assistance and got told to just put the spare tire on. I had to keep driving until locations were open to exchange vehicle. I called later in the morning to roadside assistance and got told to go to the airport location. I was told he had everything ready for me to do an exchange. They didn't have any vehicles prepared or available in the size I needed. I was told to wait an hour for another car. I called back the Waukegan location to tell what's going on. The person who answered was defensive and said he said he couldn't do anything. Two personal at the airport saw the situation and saw how there was a major safety issue. They talked to the manager and were able to fix the problem. I wish I remembered their names to give them credit. I arrived late and the whole thing was a nightmare to deal with. I've rented many cars from other companies and never had a problem like this. The tires were the biggest issue. They could had popped at any moment with my family in the car.Review fromLatasha P

1 starThis is the worst company to rent a car from! I rented a 7 passenger car and booked it online. I paid for it online in full $466.55!!! My family had to come home 2 days early from our trip because my aunt passed away. We brought the car back early and WAS NOT given a refund! The reason being when you book online you MUST keep the car for the entire time even if someone dies in your family!! How sick of this company to not give a refund for a death in your family!!! We now have to go to South Carolina in 6 days. I will definitely rent from ENTERPRISE!!!! I called and talked to a representative and she told me I would need "proof" of my aunt's passing!! How rude!! What do you want proof for and we are not getting a refund!! You people need sensitivity training! I will never ever rent a car from HERTZ again and will definitely pass the word along to other potential customers including my USPS family! Please read reviews on this company before partaking in any business with them!Review fromLisa F

1 starRented two 5 passenger vehicles because they did not have a 7 passenger. When we got to the rental agency they had one available so we took it. The feel was $120 for the 5 passenger and $160 for the 7 passenger is what were told. I get my charges and now I am paying $329, far cry from the original price. We did agree to pay the fee of $4.54 to fuel the car when we dropped it off; however, I was charged an additional $9.99 for a total of $15/gal. I did not see the additional charge when selected on the website, nowhere did it mention that. Will never use Hertz Rental again, shame on them for deceiving their customers.Review fromDustin L

1 starI travel quite often and use rental car companies from Fox in California to Thrifty in Charleston. I had no idea that the worst rental car experience would be in my home town of Fort Worth, Texas. I "tried" to rent a large SUV for my family to make a trip to the beach. This company charged my credit card upon securing the reservation more than 30 days prior to the date of pick up.. normal and have no problem with that. Now the BLEEP show starts. My father in law, in which was name to pick up on the reservation, went to pick up the large SUV and was told "sorry someone else needed it so we gave it to them" but we do have this small SUV available. First point, reservations dont mean anything to this company. Second, they asked for a credit card for the rental deposit, also normal... but upon return they charged that card as well. So at this point they have 2 cards for roughly 1000.00 and of course like any **** company, no customer service person to talk to. Even the workers at the rental location don't have answers of how to contact a REAL person. As a business owner myself, this is a terrible customer service company but the business plan of ripping customer off and hopefully they get tired and give up on trying to get their money back is not going to work with me. HORRIBLE COMPANY, HORRIBLE PEOPLEReview fromJanice P

1 starNot affiliated with Hertz corp at all. They are their own entity!! Do not rent from them. We had an unsafe car from them and the customer service manager laughed and said 1. We were lucky to have a cracked windshield and 2. All cars oil lights come in in high altitudes. They are the worst experience you can get. Not a pleasant experience at all.Review fromPatricia E

1 starI picked up my rental from Minneapolis Airport 7/6/22.
I told the agent and had my insurance information in my hand, told her I DID NOT want the Hertz insurance. I was told by the agent, that a $200 dollar hold would be put on my Credit Card. On 7/20/22 I returned my car. When I checked my CC on line I had $643.60 card on my card. $475.86 for insurance, which I told the agent NO. Also a $52.87 charge to cover a pickup at the airport. I've tried several times to contact Hertz, by email and phone calls. Final got someone to answer via text. After 48 hours, still no answer to my questions, nor any return! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. No wonder there is so many bad reviews. HERTZ is only out for your money and no customer service. I told the CS great way to take advantage of a Senior Citizen....Review fromCarlton P

1 starHertz Rental Car is a cheat and customer representative's lie to you. Two different representatives said I would receive a refund and would be back on my card within 7-10 days. It was not! Talked to a 3rd representative today, July 28th and was told I would not be getting a refund. Nothing was written in my rental page. I informed her the 2nd representative confirmed the refund notes. Someone deleted the notes I informed her. To make matters worse Hertz had just charged an additional $10.00. She said there was no charge showing. I said then someone at Hertz had compromised my card. No reply! Stay away from Hertz. I rented at Pittsburg Pennsylvania Airport.Review fromGina R

1 starGina - NM I had a reservation with Hertz in Houston. My car was to be rented for 3 days for a total of $286.36. I accidently booked it at the wrong airport and when I had it switched over to Hobby Airport in Houston I was now being charged $603.15!! I spoke to several people asking if they can honor the amount/price I booked the car at and everyone was extremely rude. When I get onto the Hertz website now for Hobby Airport I can book I can book a SUV for a full week at 450. alot cheaper than what I paid for 3 days. NEVER go to Hertz!! they do not appreciate their customers or care how they are milking people for money.Review fromTom C

1 starHad a medical emergency requiring us to return to our hometown hospital early for an emergency surgery; at the advice of a Pediatric Neurosurgeon.
Contacted Hertz within 24 hours of our prepaid week rental, with these special circumstances. We agreed that I would return the car 3 days early and was to receive a prorated refund for those 3 day's. Original 6/23-6/30 rental. Called 6/24 AM, made an agreement, returned 6/27; and company kept funds through 6/30, proving to be untrustworthy.
A confirmation email was issued at that point, establishing the fact that they would have the car back available for rental 3 days early. We kept our end of the gentlemen's agreement.
They got the car and I got nothing but hours of follow up runarounds and, with no prorated refund.
Talk about adding insult to injury. They apparently put profits, a chance to double bill the vehicle, over the hardships and trust of their own Gold Members.
Have not had anyone at this company that I could rely on. They refused to allow me to talk to a supervisor and have made false promises about contacting me, issuing refunds etc..
What a lousy and disgusting experience.
