Dun and Bradstreet sold my information to third parties. Someone called me last week and today, trying to sell me something, and when I asked where they got my details, they said they bough a database from Dun and Bradstreet with my info on. I got into contact with Dun and Bradstreet, and they first denied that they sell information and said I have the wrong company, and then, after sharing this link with them, they said they will escalate my request. ************************************. They have made it practically impossible to remove my info from their database. I never consented to them SELLING my info, and I'm pretty sure no-one else on they lists they're selling did. Is that legal?

Thank you so much for your help!

I received this response from them:
My name is *******, and I am the Lead Escalation Advisor or the Executive Response Team with Dun & Bradstreet (“D&B”). Your concern with your DUNS report was escalated to our team.

I received your request through BBB to remove your name from the business credit report for *** ******* Corporation. You were listed as the brand designer in the report and in the paid for Hoovers register. I have requested to have those removed for you.

You can always view and update your basic information as well as dispute information for free on our DUNS manager site. You can also submit your financials.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any further request or issues.

I was surprised to see that my name is on the business credit report for *** *******, and I reached out to *** ******* to make them aware of this. *** ******* were dumbfounded as to why any of my info is mentioned, as I'm a Senior IC and I don't represent the company at all. *** ******* is reaching out to them to check if they have any one else of our company listed that shouldn't be on there. (Why are Duns listing IC's?)

I also want to make it draw attention to the fact that they don't have a clear way for people to remove their data. I don't know when this article got published - ************************************ - but if you look at that, it tells you how to remove yourself from Duns. If you look at their website today, they removed the "Do not sell my personal information" prompt all together from the footer. Why are they making it practically impossible for people to remove themselves if they did have the functionality previously?  Please can you hold them accountable to make it possible for people to see right away how to remove themselves from their database?

      Thank you for your help!

Our company, MEM Fairway, was attempting to do business with a new supplier. They said they needed to check our information through Dun & Bradstreet's database before they proceeded. We do not have an account with ********************** but was said go ahead and check. They then told us what our results for were on our financials and they could only approve so much business with us. The financials were wildly inaccurate and so we went to Dun & Bradstreet's website to see if we could provide the correct financials. We found out that only if we paid for service could anything be updated. Yet, when we do not pay it is okay to have false information reported. If we do not pay for any service we do not want our false information on this website and with this company. It makes it seems that if you pay for business with them that you can make your income and numbers up to be whatever you want. I understand reporting on a business and holding them accountable; but to report false information and then establish a pay wall is dishonest and we do not want our business with this company.

D&B has unfairly retained my business's tradelines and Paydex score despite the detailed payment history provided by my Creditors!!!! Despite starting my business in 2016, they inaccurately state that I've been in operation for less than a year. They have failed to provide my Paydex score and only display 2 tradelines, despite all my creditors reporting to them monthly. This discriminatory behavior is evident in their disparate treatment of my business associates, especially those from minority-owned enterprises facing similar issues. It seems that D&B deliberately limits or withholds tradelines from minority-owned businesses, hindering them from achieving a Paydex Score. As a Logistics Company, I have continuously encountered obstacles with D&B.
Their refusal to allow updates and withholding of Paydex scores not only negatively impacts my business but also affects numerous minority-owned clients without any valid justification. Since my initial interaction with D&B, their discriminatory practices against me have remained consistent. My DUNS # is ***********.

I am rejecting this response because:

They continue to withhold my Paydex Score as well as continue to report a false start date with knowledge of Incorporation Date. They still discriminate and have not reached out to resolve this matter whatsoever. A Class Action has to be brought forward because they've been doing this for years

D&B has unjustly retained my business's tradelines and Paydex score, disregarding the detailed payment history provided by my creditors. This discriminatory behavior is evident in their disparate treatment of my business associates, particularly those from minority-owned enterprises in a similar predicament. It appears that D&B deliberately limits/withholds the tradelines of minority-owned businesses to prevent them from achieving a Paydex Score. As a Consulting Company (****** ******** ***) based in Atlanta, Georgia, I have faced continuous obstacles with D&B.
D&B has persistently refused to update my personal information, citing the discontinuation of a purchased product due to non-payment and service cancellation. Consequently, they deny me access to their free service, CreditSignal. This refusal to allow updates and withholding of Paydex scores affects not only my business but also numerous minority-owned clients without any valid justification. Since my initial interaction with D&B, their discriminatory practices against me have remained consistent. My DUNS # is ***********.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 10/29/2023

Recently I applied for a FREE D&B number to facilitate my Contracts application and vendor credit reporting, essential for establishing my business's credit status. My partnership has been active since January 2020, and other vendors have successfully reported our business credit. However, D&B has blocked us from obtaining a D&B number and failed to report vendors. Upon application, I received an email from a sales representative trying to sell me products. My sole intention was to secure my D&B number as I have been operating my business for three years. It's important to note that I do not need to be a corporation to obtain a D&B number; being a Partnership should suffice. While other credit bureaus have cooperated, D&B has refused to issue me a number simply because I did not make a purchase from them. They did not request any proof of my business, demonstrating their discrimination against me. It's concerning that D&B has discriminated against other Women-Owned minority businesses as well. Over 20 businesses, including mine, have faced this discrimination. It is unacceptable for D&B to continue this practice, as they must comply with regulations and not discriminate against minority-owned businesses. I request your assistance in resolving this matter promptly.

Subject: Urgent Complaint: Unresolved Issues with Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) Reporting

      Attn: BBB

I am writing to file a formal complaint against Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) concerning a series of deeply concerning issues that I have faced as a customer. Despite my attempts to resolve these matters, D&B has failed to provide satisfactory explanations or assistance, leaving me frustrated and distressed.

I initially contacted D&B to update my business information and inquire about the discrepancy in reporting: out of 5 customers reporting, only 2 were reflected on my profile. These concerns were met with silence, and subsequent attempts to obtain clarification were met with vague responses and uncooperative behavior from D&B representatives, particularly ****.

I have diligently documented our communication, including instances where D&B falsely accused me of operating from a virtual office, which they said could affect my scores. I informed them that location has nothing to do with Payment History, Amount of Debt and Frequency of Payments. They refuted with an illegal and unethical response that Location can affect my credit scores. Additionally, this issue is not isolated to my business alone; five other women-owned minority companies with identical profiles are facing similar challenges.

I have observed a concerning pattern where D&B selectively withholds Paydex scores, particularly for minority clients, leading me to believe that discriminatory practices might be at play based on demographics.

Despite my repeated requests for clarity, **** has avoided providing satisfactory answers, often altering the narrative and deleting messages. Threats to escalate the matter to relevant authorities like the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have had no effect, leaving me with no choice but to formalize this complaint.

      Thank You,

      Sincerely,

This company practices deceptive practices to steal money from people. Attached I have supplied the letter that was mailed to me. First, they do not even use my name on the letter as they are fishing for someone to pay and address it directly to American Express Platinum Card. Second, they use a bogus Hertz account number (attached is my real Hertz account number), and third, they come up with a random sum of money and use a legitimate government website to try and validate their letter. They have called countless time even after I have told them to please remove me from their system as they can not provide any valid justification of this letter. They should not be allowed to be in business and should pay for their deceptive practices and their malice intensions to charge people who do not understand the law and get caught in the foul practice of deception. They are trying to charge large amounts of money to hard working individuals, many who will not realize that this is a scam.

Since January 2023, I have been contacting Dun & Bradstreet regarding incorrect information on my credit report. The first major issue was that they had my personal phone number and address listed as my business. As a single mother with a law enforcement background, that put my child and I in extreme danger. Plus, my name and business name were wrong. Then, it took months to figure out they have two credit reports under my name. I am one member of a multi-member LLC that just started in December 2022, but they are listing my personal credit as part of that LLC's history. After spending endless hours in email and phone calls, and reps claiming they'd call me back but don't, I requested removal of any and all information pertaining to me. Their own website states that this can be done, and I have repeatedly contacted them since March or April asking them to remove all info. More than 3 months later, I'm still having to go back and forth with them as they claim they'd contact me, but don't, and are dishonest saying they'd delete my info. I last spoke with a supervisor, ******, on June 22nd. She told me she'd look into resolving my issue. She called me back just before closing the next day, a Friday to tell me that the reason my personal credit was attached to the new LLC was because the LLC was just a renaming of my sole proprietorship. Not true! This is a brand new business of which I'm not the only member. Not a single-member LLC. No other members are even listed on the business by D&B. And it doesn't negate the fact that there are two listings under my name. One of which is a sole proprietorship, at the address of the LLC. I've never operated a sole proprietorship from that address. And my name is still wrong! And for ****** to say that my credit will stay attached for 25 years is absurd! I've called her back twice since then and she is ignoring my calls despite claiming she can offer a solution. Our members want any dealings with D&B. I again ask, remove my info.

All of our company information is incorrect, You call them and they redirect you to a customer services number which is actually a medical alert contact?! I have no idea what that is all about.
