I used Network Solutions to register an Internet domain in Oct of 2023. Starting in Nov, I have been attempting to purchase an x.509 digital certificate, or SSL certificate, to secure my domain hosting. I have multiple domains registered there and did not want to utilize their over-priced certificate services.
I was told that I could use their pay for support service to get that done and was told after subscribing that I could not.
I then went on to review their certificate offerings (**********************************************************) and found their UCC which allows for multiple domains. It cannot be purchased online, so I called and ordered it for 3 domains for 2 years. This is issued through Sectigo and I started the process.
Over the course of the past 4 months, I have had 4 tickets to get SSL installed. After buying this service, I was told that NetSol needed to issue a CSR, which I obtained from support and had signed. After returning the signed cert, I was told that it was not issued by them and they would not install it. I have opened two more tickets since and the most recent ticket (*******), they generated 3 separate CSRs, which will not work for a multi-SAN cert and the ticket was closed.
I cannot fight this any longer, it's taking too long and I keep getting a runaround and being told that I must spend more money with no results.Customer Answer

I received an email from them (see attached) that clearly did NOT read the complaint where I stated "the most recent ticket (*******), they generated 3 separate CSRs, which
will not work for a multi-SAN cert and the ticket was closed" and yet their email claims that they have fulfilled their obligation, which these do not work.
It also states to contact us, but the email is a "no-reply" address. When contacting support, I'm simply told "I must forward your request to the back office" and nothing else is done.
I cannot communicate with the back office and there seems to be communication issues where certificates are concerned.
This email is their response to the BBB filing and my response to them.Initial Complaint

Below is a summary of my complaint. The full text can be found in the uploaded file: ***********************.
For many years, I've used Network Solutions to register my domain names, but I find their email marketing and auto-renew practices to be broadly dishonest.
Specifically, all year long, Network Solutions sends emails breathlessly claiming my domains are about to expire (samples in the .doc file), when in fact these emails are NOT ABOUT DOMAINS I OWN. At the same time, Network Solutions sends a monthly email claiming "Your domains will auto-renew soon," without saying WHEN or for HOW MUCH. In fact, the "when" can be almost a year away, and the "how much" appears to be FOUR TIMES their advertised price for new domains - which is to say, the advertised price is "bait and switch."
Finally, Network Solutions auto-renewed my services at their highest rate TWO MONTHS BEFORE they were set to expire, without ever sending an invoice, and in fact billed an EXPIRED CREDIT CARD, despite sending an email saying they couldn't!
Network Solutions needs to completely revise their email and auto-renew policies: first, STOP sending customers emails telling them to renew domains they don't own, and second, Network Solutions MUST inform their customers honestly when their domains will auto-renew and at what rate. Whether they want to offer their customers more competitive renewal rates is up to them, but with honest notification, customers would be in a much better position to explore the competition - which is to say, what Network Solutions is doing is the very definition of Unfair Competition.Initial Complaint

We are a local ***** Non Profit business and cannot have companies just charging and renewing services weeks before they are due. We are very lean on the funds so the renewal of services in based around times when we receive donations and funds.Initial Complaint

March 2023, I worked with ****************, a Web.com Business Consultant, to renew my stable of domain names and purchase a web hosting package for the creation of one website. ****************, being respectful of my financial concerns, would find creative ways to keep my costs as low as possible. Part of this strategy was that I have always renewed my internet products for 1 year at a time. (As a "loyal" Web.com/Network Solutions customer for over 40 years, my payment history supports this pattern.) Having dealt with **************** in the past, I trusted her. For a reason unknown to me she erroneously signed me up for an *** Certificate for a 5-year term. This was discovered after I decided, a few days ago, not to renew my hosting package. I NEVER would have knowingly agreed to this, I only purchase in 1-year increments. Supporting this was an anomaly for my account; the Hosting package purchased was for a 1-year term. I would also add that at the conclusion of the transaction, I was asked by **************** only to approve a total amount. I never received an itemized invoice until after this charge was discovered and I contacted Network Solutions Support on 3/1/24. Since I was renewing approximately 25 domains, transferring 22 of them to register.com (another **************** purchasing a hosting package and purchasing the *** certificate it was very confusing. I do remember **************** making several errors that required her to issue refunds and then recharge items; as already mentioned, it was confusing. I did repeatedly ask **************** why charges and refunds were necessary but never received anything more than an Ive got it all fixed, so dont worry type of response. This purchase does not logically make sense. A 5yr term *** savings is minimal plus the *** cert is useless without a website to go with it. (I had only purchased a 1-year hosting package.) I am requesting a refund for the unused/remaining 4 years that I was unknowing enrolled in, charged and paid for.Initial Complaint

Awful service. I paid for an account with services, and they gave me nonfunctioning services or lack thereof. I waited nearly a week for them to fix it before I gave up on the package I had and purchased another because I had to get started on my website. They tried to charge me additional money instead of giving me some discount for the trouble they caused me. With the new services I could at least start building my web page but I have had constant issues with email and they fight me on fixing it. I got my site built or at least ready enough to post and they failed to configure the *** correctly. It took me 2 days of fighting them to figure out it was wrong. When they said they had it fixed I waited patiently for it to be issued until the ***** hour waiting period was up and still it wasn't issued. Then the ********* that came with the package was faulty and they fought me on fixing that as well. They ultimately said it needed to be removed and replaced with a working version. I consented to them removing it on the condition that they replaced it, they told me within 24 hours it would be replaced. The next day I called to see why it was there and they had no clue about it and tried to charge me for another even though I was already paying for it. I still don't have an *** and I still don't have SitelockCustomer Answer

After: -failing to provide me with working e-commerce services and trying to charge me to get working services I waited 5 days with zero service before I gave up on the package I wanted and asked for a different -Providing me with replacement services that had all sorts of bugs in them and making the resolution extremely difficult to get - taking away a piece of my site lock and making me spend nearly a dozen hours in contact with support to get it back -failing to provide SSL correctly making me wait nearly a full 7 day week for it leaving my site unsecure and far less likely to be seen I did spend nearly another dozen hours in communication with support on this -the latest issue is that they failed to properly configure my site to www. and I had them fix it. They messed something up and now the www. isn't my site's default but i do pull up with www in a direct search. whatever they did caused my website to pull up multiple times as a duplicate in the eyes of search engines. Sometimes you can visit the site and be on what you know is the current version that is published and then it will give you some old version. So i am not as likely to be indexed by search engines basically killing the entire point of building a website. I have a service that detail checks your website for issues and because of NS mistakes, I have 248 line items of errors and warnings regarding my site and its optimization to search engines! I am paying them to rob me! I made a very easy and simple request for them to add what is called a CANONICAL TAG, it helps remedy this problem and they are the ones that have the access to do it, It might take 5 minutes to do and costs no money to do it and I am given the run around to the point that I at one time spoke to 4 departments in less than 7 minutes trying to get help. The end result is they wont do anything to help me other than ask me to spend more money to have their SEO team run the report and then fix it, NO MORE MONEY! they need to fix thisCustomer Answer

Dont make the mistake of going with them! I have had nothing but issues and they are a scam! You will never rank unless you pay them for basic stuff that should never be withheld from someone buying a service to build a website. They dont give you access to your own page code and they make you pay to get a basic function like CAanonical tags added, and they have consistently messed up configuration making all urls point to www. My SEO score is perfect except the 30 points that I loose from them not providing me with the very basics of control over my own website. They wont do it for you either, not unless you pay for their pro SEO service. Its a scam and they are thiefsCustomer Answer

The idiots (or criminals) at NetworkSolutions.*** have done it again. Even though we did everything to ensure that our emails would renew on or about February 2, 2024 since we only moved our website host to Hostinger.com, these idiots decided to selectively delete my wife and law office manager ****** *********** email account, *********************************** This is both suspicious and criminal. Once my wife reported this loss of her email use, I immediately contacted these idiots at Network Solutions to both reinstate and restore all of her lost important emails, spanning years. But these idiots continue to stumble and fail, appearing to be either due to stupidity or malice. Please urgently investigate and advise.Initial Complaint

I was billed on 8.24.23 $269.91 ( order confirmation number ********** for $269.91 ) to renew a domain name (hcsf.com) which i paid with a credit card. I was billed again for the SAME domain name on 11.5.23 for the price of $314.91 (order confirmation number ********** for $314.91) - which i paid (by paypal) without remembering that i had already paid this in August, but due to the price difference i was confused.
Have requested a refund for the 2nd payment but the refund policy at Network Solutions is 30 days which has long passed.
I would like BBB to look into my refund and more importantly WHY I WAS BILLED TWICE for the same service at TWO DIFFERENT PRICES? Is this legal?
I have contacted Network Solutions for a refund and they have refused due to the 30 cancellation policy. I have reached out to my credit card and paypal for a refund or cancellation and neither can assist me. Please advise, thank youCustomer Answer

Thank you Better BUsiness for your assistance and thank you, Network Solutions for your reply and your assistance. After sending in my complaint, I was able to speak to a representative at Network Solutions who greatly assisted me in resolving my problem. And I would like to note and conclude that I was ultimately very happy with the resolution assistance I was provided.
Better Business Bureau, please remove any poor ratings Network Solutions received based on my complaint. Although I was very frustrated with NS, they ultimately earned an A rating in the end.

I called Network Solutions to add a product to my site to accept payments for a ebook. I created the page, linking it to my master site, but the links were not working on the ecommerce page. It took SEVEN phone calls to reach someone repeating the information to the point of total frustration. Finally got someone who heard me, then SHE ended up REMOVING MY SITE in total from the web. I have been with them 27 years! I have to wait ***** hours for them to correct their mistake and I am losing money every hour it is down. The claim they need time to ********** it yet they removed it in less than a minute! NO one will help me and each time I call I get a different asnwer. I asked for a supervisor then get cut off or call drops. Then I have to start again. This is totally unacceptable business practices
