2 starsI booked a direct flight each way from LA to *********. Departure from LA was was late & baggage took longer to retrieve in ********* than it should have. However, the return flight, which was an evening flight showed that it was on time all day long. At 3:35 pm, there was a gate charge email, & at 5:35 pm, there was a flight cancellation email. That really puts a traveler in a bind because there are no other options for getting home that day. My options were fly a different day, credit, or flight credit. If Spirit decided to cancel again at 5pm, I would be in the same predicament the following day. My other option was a 12 hour flight with 2 connections. I told the agent to put me on that one, but I was very unhappy about it & told her that I would be searching other airlines to find a better way home, especially since the flight that was canceled was direct. When I called back, the agent, that took 40 minutes to get ahold of, told me that I was only able to get a Spirit Airlines Flight Credit. I do not care what it states as their policy. If the airline cancels my direct flight, & causes me to incur additional hotel fees, parking fees, meals, and airline fees, then they should credit your credit card. They were adamant about not doing that. Also, do not bother opting to chat. I started a chat at 9pm, and a person replied at 1:04 am in the morning. This is not the first bad experience that I have had. Last year, my familys flight kept getting delayed. It was finally either cancelled or delayed by over seven hours because the pilot was too tired to fly. My family and friends actually make fun of me for flying Spirit. My argument is the price. Compared to other airlines, I thought I would save about $450 on my recent flight. After the cancellation of my flight & the cost incurred by staying an additional day, flying Spirit ended up costing me more than I would have with a reputable airline. 1 starSpirit airlines a disorganized, fraudulent, deceitful company. I had a customer service representative lie to me about vouchers for a hotel stay. My flight was canceled. I made a decision based upon the facts the representative gave me. After 4 hours back and forth from airport to my car. Which I am now to pay double parking for. Nothing was resolved. I was lied to with no resolution present. On top of that I had to sleep on the floor. Since my next flight was 24 hours later. Do yourself a favor do not book with these guys.Review fromBrian D

1 starMy flight with Spirit Airlines was canceled without compensation. My non-stop flight from ************ to *********** was canceled at load-in, despite the plane landing and passengers unboarding. We were supposed to leave at 4:53 PM, but after multiple delays, the flight was canceled. We were directed to collect luggage and wait in a long line. After hours of waiting, the Spirit agent only offered a refund. I explained they were required to provide hotel accommodations for cancellations per DOT rules and showed her this link: *********************************************************************************************************************************. She refused, removed her badge when I asked for her name, and left. Another agent eventually booked me on a flight days later with a connection, not the non-stop I paid for. Customer support offered only a $100 voucher. I incurred expenses for a hotel, taxis, and food. According to DOT rules, I should be compensated. Other passengers will also report similar issues with DOT. Spirit claimed weather issues, but other airlines confirmed it was mechanical. 1 starHorrible, terrible, no good very bad airline --SPIRIT!Booked my 22yr son from ******* to *******. They got him halfway there, to ******. Flight on to *******: Delayed 3 times then canceled. Told me they could rebook him to ******* in 3 days, with him stranded in ***. He has autism. He does not know how to survive in an airport for 3 days. They could not care less. Will NEVER use again and advise everyone else to avoid. (Oh, and they LIED about the reason. Blamed weather, even though the only airlines affected by weather are ***, LGA, ERW, and CLT. Guess they didn't know my daughter worked for SWA until she had her baby). LIARS!!!I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SOUTHWEST AIRLINES.Don't EVER fly Spirit, they won't even give you a cup of water on a flight without charging you (no, not a bottled water, a CUP of water, they will deny you even a SIP unless you pay up. 1 starI WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE SPIRIT 1 STAR. RACIST EMPLOYEES IN ATL *************** TOWARDS ANYONE NOT BROWN SKIN, CANCELLED A FLIGHT WHILE CLOSE TO BOARDING, COSTUMER SERVICE IN PERSON AND THROUGH THE ***** HORRENDOUS, BUT TO TOP IT OFF MY STROLLER FOR MY AUTISTIC SON WAS BROKEN IN HALF. THE FLIGHT THAT WAS CANCELLED CUSTOMERS FOUND OUR BY BEING TOLD TO PRINT OUT A NEW BOARDING PASS. THE NEW FLIGHT WAS FOR A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DAY LEAVING MYSELF AND MY TODDLERS STRANDED WITH NO COMPENSATION OR VOUCHERS FOR THE INCONVENIENCE. WHEN SPEAKING TO EMPLOYEES FOR INFORMATION ON WHAT TO DO NEXT WAS INFORMED IT WAS NOT THERE ISSUE. IN *********** IN NY EMPLOYEE *** AT BAGGAGE CLAIM INFORMATION SAID MULTIPLE TIMES FILE A CLAIN ONLINE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY STROLLER AND WHEN ASKED TO SPEAK TO A MANAGER WAS TOLD I DONT KNOW WHEN ONE WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THE STROLLER THAT WAS DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR IS NEEDED FOR MY SON WHO IS SEVERELY AUTISTIC AND RELIES ON IT EVERY SINGLE DAY. THE MANAGER WOULD NOT GIVE HER NAME AND TURNED HER NAME TAG WHEN ASKED AFTER WAITING FOR HER TO ARRIVE FOR MORE THAN 30 MINUTES. TO JUST BE TOLD HERE TAKE THIS UNCLAIMED STROLLER ITS FINE. 1 starI was flying the first time with Spirit Airlines from *********** to ******* to catch an international flight to ******. My flight was delayed due to the cabin temperature being above ********************************************************** to cool the plane down before take off. This caused me to miss my connecting flight and no compensation of any kind was given. Had to buy new tickets without spirit airlines accepting responsibility for this. Fast forward a month later coming home Spirt airlines was used by my booking company and I had a connecting flight from ********** to ***********. Spirit has a delayed flight ok I go through security get to my gate flight is cancelled. Now I have insurance protection on my flight but could not get a flight out with them for 3 days. Unexceptable had to book with American Airlines to get out the next day. All Spirit could do was offer me a voucher for another flight in the future like I ever want to fly with them again. They have to do better! I had to pay $300 for hotel in ********** which was outrageous at a holiday inn express because of Spirit! They did not offer any compensation for this and it was their fault. How is this even legal to have a company make so many mistakes after taking your money then leaving you with all kinds of added expenses due to their negligence! Absurd!!! 5 starsI had a one stop flight to *********** to *************** to my grandma funeral the July 9th and July 11th. The people who checked me in were amazing and kind. The flight crew was also just as amazing. Planning a trip to bring my mother on the same no stop flight for her bday. Thank you so much for your excellent costumer service. The extra money on a carry on was the only thing Thank you to the staff on those flights and check. 1 starThis airline is a scam. I am a frequent flyer at least twice a month. Flying domestic, always arriving ***** minutes before the flight and many times my seat is sold an given to someone else because Im late I buy my flight days before and paying in full I should have my seat when time come to fly. They over sell seats and give stand by customers seats at a high price and then over charging original customers who lost their seat and plans to fly more money to rebook next flight. This is unfair. If I buy a flight ticket I should be able to fly on that plane even if Im the last to board.Review fromMark H

1 starSpirit Airlines has the worst customer service I have ever seen. My son flew up on Alaska Airline to see us in Washington. He carried all his clothes and toiletries in a backpack that he was able to on the Alaska flight with no problem. We made the horrible mistake of booking his flight home on Spirit. The person at the gate for his flight had him put his bag in the carry on measuring device to see if his carry on met the size limit, which it did. The attendant then had him turn it sideways and try to put it in. Obviously it would not fit, so the made him check his backpack at the gate and charged him $79. The flight was delayed for over two hours so he missed his connecting flight in Las Vegas. He was given a hotel and dinner voucher and booked him on a flight out the following morning, but they lost his luggage ( turns out they forwarded it to Sacramento without telling him). When he check in they had him booked to LAX instead of Sacramento. He talked to a customer service person who accused him of lying about Sacramento being his final destination saying it was LAX. He requested to talked to a manager (Collette at desk N48 in Las Vegas) who also accused him of lying. He subsequently missed the morning flight due to the check in fiasco and they offered to waive the $99 cancellation fee since he missed his flight (even though it was the ineptitude and rudeness of Spirit’s customer service representatives that caused him to miss the flight). He said he would go book a flight on another carrier to get home and was told that in that case he was going to be charged the cancellation fee. He was finally booked on another Spirit flight at 6:49 that night, 24 hours after his original flight time. This entire affair has been a nightmare for him and our family
