My girlfriend and I stayed in NYC and for a week at the Westin at Times Square and as we were leaving we were offered a 3 night stay for $399 with a $199 deposit and an obligation to attend a 90 minute presentation. First of all, these guys got way too excited in front of me for completing this transaction. Extremely unprofessional and red flag #1. They told me I could call a number within 72 hours to cancel if I changed my mind. When I got home and called the number it said their office was closed for the weekend. I called Monday and the number they gave me was for making reservations and each of the 6 phone calls I made they just kept dancing around helping me and tried to get me to just book the dates. They gave me different answers for how to cancel. One option was to respond to the email I supposedly should have recieved (I never did). Others told me I would need to hand write a letter and send it to their office in Orlando. Are you kidding me? Long story short, I’ve been put through a complete nightmare by this company. My girlfriend and I always go with Marriott whenever we can and that will surely come to an end because of this.

Waste of money and not worth at all. Also waste of time and efforts in the race of trying to utilize the MVC points where there is the least flexibility to make reservations.

I'm sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing with your ownership. After reviewing your account, I see that you are a relatively new owner with us and have already used your ownership points successfully. We understand that, as a new owner, there may be a learning curve in optimizing the usage of your points. To assist you in getting the most out of your ownership, we recommend utilizing the resources available in your owner portal, which provide helpful information on how to effectively use your ownership.

I agree with all of these reviews. Poorest investment we ever made. We still owe a small fortune and are trying to figure out how we got talked into buying more points. Rarely get the resort we want at the time we want. The maintenance fees are outrageous and go up every year. We can’t afford to pay the outrageous maintenance fees and can’t get out of the timeshare. Forget the exit option through Marriott….it’s a joke. The whole timeshare concept should be deemed illegal.

I'm sorry to learn that you are not satisfied with your ownership. It's worth noting that we have over 500,000 owners who do enjoy utilizing their ownership. To enhance your chances of securing a reservation, we recommend booking 12 months in advance during the inventory release date. Additionally, maintenance fees are neither decided upon nor collected by Marriott Vacations Worldwide; rather, they are agreed upon by the owner's association. If you are considering exploring exit options, please feel free to reach out to our Exit Services department at 866-682-4547. Alternatively, you have the option to sell your ownership externally.

This company is a total scam ! I confronted them after discovering they lied to me and stole my
money. They finally agreed to cancel my contract with a deed-in-lieu. They refuse to send me the paperwork and seem to be reneging. I have tried contacting them multiple times over the past few months and they are just stonewalling me. It's so upsetting to know there is a company treating people this way and especially 80 + year old senior citizens and getting away with it !
      STAY AWAY FROM MARRIOTT !!!

I'm genuinely sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. Your concerns are important, and I'd like to provide some clarity on the deed-in-lieu process. A deed-in-lieu is not guaranteed, and it does involve a lengthy process that can take up to 190 days to complete. It's regrettable to hear about your difficulties in obtaining the necessary paperwork. I understand your frustration and the impact this has had on you, especially considering the circumstances. It's crucial that your concerns are addressed promptly and fairly. I recommend reaching out to our customer service department once more, providing them with your specific details, and expressing your desire for resolution. Your feedback is valuable, and we want to ensure you receive the assistance you need.

Warning to anyone who may get an invite to attend a Marriott Timeshare meeting. Don’t! The
pressure to purchase is extreme! • At the sales presentation, I was told that I would have a customer service agent assign to me for help with booking and that this person would become familiar with my vacation needs and preferences. This never happen and in fact customer service is not what I expected and a long way from being helpful ( long wait times, poor communication skills etc.)
Furthermore, the reservation process is very cumbersome and is constantly changing. We were led to believe we would get 3 weeks a year which was not true. Everything is always booked up.
This year when we tried to book there was no property available in FL near the ocean and we had to settle for Orlando. Furthermore, to add to the deception, at the sales table, the sales person had us sign applications for 2 AMEX credit cards. One in my name and the other in my wife’s name. It was done very quickly in order for us to pay the $9000 down payment on the spot. It was only later that I learned with much regret that EACH card had an annual fee of $450.This marketing ploy was very deceptive and only added to a sales strategy filled with false promises. And yes we have contacted Marriott and any attempt to resolve an issue is always met with pressure to buy more. And they won’t release you, once they have you in their grip. Just Research Timeshares! And don’t let the Marriott name fool you.

I want to extend my apologies for your recent experiences with Marriott Vacation Club, which fell short of your expectations. I fully understand your concerns and value your feedback. While we previously provided dedicated vacation advisors, our growing owner base has led to a shift in our approach. We now offer dedicated owner service teams and specific phone lines tailored to different owner levels. Availability at our properties is primarily influenced by owner reservations, and we don't have direct control over it. To enhance your chances of securing your desired accommodations, we recommend booking well in advance, typically 13 to 12 months ahead. In regard to the AMEX credit cards, I understand your concerns and apologize for any confusion during the sales process. The application and management of these cards are typically handled directly with AMEX. All relevant details, including annual fees, would have been communicated during the credit card application process. I genuinely appreciate your feedback, and I am here to assist you further if needed. Please feel free to reach out to our dedicated owner service team for any additional support or inquiries.

While I appreciate the response, it provided no solution to my problem. Being that I purchased under fraudulent information, I expect to be released from the contract. I don’t want anything to.do with it after the frustration I have already dealt with. Considering that I have paid my FTL contract in full and never used it and considering that I used my Orlando contract only once I believe a refund should be offered as well.

I made a reservation and paid in full about 2 weeks before the date. When I arrived, the staff asked me to pay for a band for River Falls even though the reservation was for 5 people. The manager threatened me not to even step into the water because the hotel would only give me 4 bands. Also, The room was not ready on time as promised either. When checking out, the hotel charged me again for the room ($400) and the extra person charge ($98). I had to question because the reservation was made and paid for 5 people. Upon checking and providing a copy of the reservation, they removed the charge. (Took 20 min) About 5 days after the trip, I saw that a $400 charge on my card. This charge was not noted on my receipt either. It only shows the resort fee of $47.25. I called the hotel and Ms. Aquas Hines answered so I explained. She promised to call back the next day with a refund confirmation because I got double charged. (I forwarded my confirmation email which shows I paid for my trip in full) She didn’t call me back, instead I had to call 3 times to get hold of her because she kept refusing to receive my calls. Then she changed her story. She said the hotel has the right to charge after 2 people are in the room even though I booked a room for 5 people. So my room is $440 that I originally paid plus $98pp. This means, the hotel should’ve charged me $900 for a suite unlike the price on the website, $390 for one night for 5 people ( 2 adults, 3 kids). Then she said my credit card company never paid Marriot so that is why I got charged again for $400 upon checking out.
She also said the hotel only gives 4 water park bands regardless of the reservation party number. When I questioned she said that the information had not been updated on the website and only be found when checking in. She never apologized for the double charge and refused to give me the refund confirmation. She hung up on me and I have to dispute the charge through my credit card. Ridiculous, unprofessional.

The biggest scam. Was told I could make monthly payments for a 5 day stay and after completion of payments I was unable to redeem my package offer. The representatives I spoke with stated that my offer expired and I was unable to receive a refund. SCAM!!

After reviewing the details, you provided, it appears that your purchase is associated with an Encore package, which typically comes with a legally binding contract. It's important to note that Encore packages often come with a 2-year expiration period. Unfortunately, if the package is not utilized within this timeframe, it may be subject to forfeiture. I understand that this aspect of the agreement can be disappointing, and I empathize with any frustration it may cause.

Marriott is the biggest modern-day scam! I received an email for 5 days/4 nights for $269, with the choice of receiving 15,000 Marriott points OR a $100 gift card to Planet Hollywood Restaurant. When I called to book it, the agent NEVER mentioned I’d be required to attend a sales pitch. During the presentation I asked if this was for a timeshare because it sure seemed like a timeshare presentation. They consistently said it was NOT a timeshare, but vacation ownership. They told me that I would be paying monthly membership dues, but my credit report says otherwise, it’s an actual mortgage and there are a lot of undisclosed fees, high interest rates and a maintenance fee I am required to pay, whether I am able to travel or not.

Don’t buy into the decades long reputation that Marriott has build because their timeshares are an absolute scam and worthy of this 1-star review!

I understand that navigating through the details of your vacation ownership can be overwhelming, and I appreciate your reaching out with your concerns. I want to assure you that the terms "vacation ownership" and "timeshare" refer to the same concept—a unique way for individuals to enjoy their vacations while sharing ownership responsibilities. It's not uncommon for the terminology to be a bit confusing, given the various names used in the industry. I understand that you may have questions about your purchase, particularly regarding the mortgage, maintenance fees, and other associated details. I recommend taking a moment to review the documents you received and signed at the time of your purchase. These documents typically provide a comprehensive overview of the terms and conditions, including financial obligations.

In October of 2022, we paid $199 to spend 4 nights and 5 days at the Marriott Ocean Watch Villas in Myrtle Beach, SC. Part of the package was a 90 minute sales presentation inviting us to purchase membership in the Marriott Vacation Club. We were offered an “Encore Package”, costing $1947, consisted of another 4 night stay at the Ocean Watch Villas, and a second 90 minute sales presentation , and a one week Dream Vacation at a resort anywhere in the world. We decided to purchase the Encore Package. A week after returning home, we were emailed our Dream Vacation Certificate. The certificate indicated that any reservation for a Dream Vacation was non-refundable and could not be changed or cancelled. Because of our age and my heart condition, we never would have purchased the Encore Package if we had known that Dream Vacation reservations were non-refundable and could not be changed for any reason. I called Marriott Vacation Club requesting a refund because of the high probability that we might need to make changes to our reservations due to health issues. The person who I spoke to (Kai) told me that the Bream Vacation was free and that the $1947 that we paid only covered our Encore Package stay at the Ocean Watch Villas. This makes no sense because there would be no Dream Vacation without purchasing the Encore Package. I asked to speak to someone in management who could make decisions, she flatly refused. Waiting until a customer has purchased a package and fulfilled all of the necessary requirements to notify them that their Dream Vacation is non-refundable is deceptive and contradicts Marriott’s stated values. Marriott's five core values: put people first, pursue excellence, embrace change, act with integrity, and serve our world I am requesting the help of the Better Business Bureau in convincing the Marriott Corporation to act in accordance with their publicly stated values and send us a refund of $!947. Hello, Tom and Kathy. I understand your concerns about the Dream Vacation offer and its associated costs. Please note that the $1,947 primarily covers your Encore Package stay at Marriott Ocean Watch Villas, with the Dream Vacation as an additional incentive. It's worth noting that if you decide to make a purchase during your Encore stay, the $1,947 you paid will be credited toward your ownership.

reached out for assistance, hoping to find understanding and guidance in navigating the cancellation of my useless timeshare. Instead, I was met with nothing short of bullying, a blatant intrusion into my personal finances, and unrelenting pressure to make a payment. Rather than providing the support I was seeking, I was distressingly informed that I would be hounded with calls every 5 days. The audacity to state that assistance would only be available when my account is alarmingly close to foreclosure is an appalling display of business practice. I expected a level of professionalism and empathy from an esteemed establishment like Marriott
