1 starThey talk well. They make lots of promises and they smile. The first mistake you'll make is that you'll think you can actually trust them. But then you get home, you try to use the timeshare and you quickly realize that what they're selling is actually not what you're buying. They allow their reps to lie. It says in the contract (which they don't explain) that whatever was told you in the sales presentation does not bind them. ONLY what is in the contract. Here's the problem: You're in a presentation for 2 hours or more and they go over the contract for about 2 minutes at signing. Lots of time to lie. Little time to explain and or understand the lies. We sent an email to them on Feb 17th and their response was the runaround. They sent us to a department that told us they can't help us. Horrible company, worse people.Review fromSharon S

1 starLike the other reviews I have read submitted February 2023, the negative ratings are totally justified. As a original deeded owner (don't get me started on that trash phrase), I am now being treated like I am staying at ***** * in lieu of one of the flagship resorts in Hilton Head. Purchased one of the very first contracts. After 20 plus years of the initial payment (cash) and maintenance fees each year, I should be able to request what area of the resort I want to stay at. In the past, we could. Today, no more. You can not call ahead. If you do, save your breath. Totally useless staff and again, I would have gotten a better room if I wasn't an owner and paid the going room price. Feels good to know I am an owner of nothing. Marriott going down...each year it gets worse. BUYER BEWARE. DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY SAY. IT'S ONLY ABOUT THE MONEY.
Thought you were better than that. Time for a class action lawsuit for deeded owners of nothing. SCAM ARTISTSReview fromHelen M

1 starWe were totally misled by Marriott Vacation Club representatives. There is no legal proof for what they told us. It’s all they said //we said and of course everyone there swears that was they said is truth. This is a total SCAM. We began investigating the lies just a few weeks after our purchase and tried getting the contract cancelled. But again they all back up each others lies. Who is interested in forming a class action law suit?Review fromJacqueline H

1 starStayed at homes and villas property and it was terrible. Dirty, pool not useable, grill broken. Rented property through Marriott but they said talk to 'property manager' who also did nothing! Very disappointing! Would avoid this Marriott service at all cost!Review fromSteve B

DO NOT JOIN MARRIOTT VACATION CLUBS, they are borderline crooks. They take your up front money, egregious annual “maintenance” fees (mine are >$5,000 per year), and have very little inventory. What they do not tell you is that a huge reason why they have limited inventory is that they partition their resorts and set aside units that MVW owners (a joke of a term) cannot access, but anyone off the street can by simply paying cash via the Marriott website. Shane on me as I am sure that my MVW contract allows them to follow these deceptive practices, but to me it is still criminal.Marriott Vacations Worldwide

We are very sorry to receive this negative review from Mr. *****, especially since he has been an owner with our organization since 2012. Maintenance fees in our ABOUND program are determined by the component resorts deeded into the Marriott Vacation Club trust. Our Trust Ownership Association, which includes owners just like Mr. *****, have done a very good job of managing the budget for our club point owners. We did see a larger than normal increase to the operating portion of the budget in 2023 with the main driver being inflationary costs that impact the day to day managerial costs of the resort, as well as labor costs.
The villas that Mr. ***** sees for rent online stem from owners who have decided to deposit their ownership interests into our rental program. These owners are compensated either by being provided with an alternative usage option such as Marriott Bonvoy points, or they are compensated directly for their rental. The vast majority of our owners receive their first choice of resort location and travel dates. However, if peak travel dates are requested (such as school breaks or holidays), then it may be required to place a reservation request 12 months out as owners often compete with each other during these highly demanded travel periods.Review fromSharhonda S

I recently bought in Scottsdale Arizona. It has been nothing but a disaster. Beware!! I trusted they were honest because it was Marriott but it turns our my reps were more crooked than going to Mexico. 90 percent of what my rep said to convince me to buy was a lie. I was about to back out and they promised me more points for the confusion. I never got the points and I also find out more things that they told me that weren’t true.Marriott Vacations Worldwide

In review of Ms. ****** account, we see that she acquired 1,000 club points in the Marriott Vacation Club ABOUND program on November 30, 2022. As agreed upon within her purchase contract, Ms. ****** first day purchase incentive was 2,000 club points and those were added to her account on December 7, 2022. If Ms. ****** would like to speak with a Customer Advocacy associate regarding any concerns she has with our sales department, she is welcome to call us at 800-860-9384.Review fromwayne w

I would have given them a 0 but not an option. Tried to pay annual dues online several times but website does not work. Then called customer service, waited an hour for a call back and while we were waiting for the Vacation Club website to come up (held for 7 minutes) then the customer dis-service representative hung up on me. I dont know how they even think this is customer service.Marriott Vacations Worldwide

We are very sorry that Mr. ******** had some difficulty paying his 2023 maintenance fees. There was some temporary outages on the owner's website in January. Those challenges have been resolved for the most part. If Mr. ******** still needs assistance with arranging payment of his maintenance fees, then he is welcome to contact our corporate Customer Advocacy office at 800-860-9384.Review fromPeter H

The sales practices of this business are highly deceptive in addition to very strong armed. We are owners in the highest ownership classification, Chairmans group, with over 30,000 Marriott vacation club points in our account. We are vacationing in Kauai Hawaii. We are here for a 10 day stay and asked to increase our stay by a single day. We were told that the resort where we are housed could not deal with the issue because we were “on-site“. We called the vacation club reservation line and asked to add a single day to our stay which we knew was available. We were told that the vacation club had given that single day to Marriott Bonvoys. We have over 100,000 Bonvoy points but Marriott Bonvoy refused to apply those points to the additional day of stay we requested. Instead they requested $854 ! It is noteworthy during a sales presentation this week , the agents stressed the convertibility of MCV points not only to Marriott Bonvoy for hotels but for airline reservations and other purposes. However the conversion value of Marriott points to these other sales opportunities was less than 10% the monetary value of the MCV points. Finally, I would note that we tried in very early March to book 2 weeks at the Hawaii location in October or November and found no availability for more than one week.In summary there is no intrinsic value to Marriott vacation points , ownership is not true ownership, the “points” are oversold relative to attractive properties and while we paid over $100,000 for our points their current value should be close to $200,000. We would love to redeem our points for 25% of their apparent “value” but MARRIOTT does not buy back points!,

We are sorry to receive this negative review from Mr. *******. Redemption of nights in the Marriott Bonvoy program are subject to availability. The rental night that Mr. ******* references likely stemmed from a legacy Kauai Beach Club owner who placed their ownership week into our rental program. Those owners are compensated for giving up their annual allocation of time at the resort. For that reason, we are unable to make these nights available for Bonvoy or Club Points redemption.
Our vacation ownership resorts are not oversold. Reservations can be requested up to 13 months in advance by our Chairman's Club owners. Several owners were unable, or reluctant, to travel to the Hawaiian Islands throughout 2020 and 2021 due to circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This resulted in overwhelming demand for all Hawaiian resorts throughout 2022, 2023 and into 2024. As a result of high demand Owners may be required to make their reservation earlier than they did pre-pandemic.Review fromJustin J.

We have stayed at the Marriott Mountainside Resort in Park City, Utah a couple of times now during peak dates and booked two rooms each time. The most recent stay, we referred our friends to the resort, who also purchased a couple rooms for their stay at peak time. Before our departure, we received an option to purchase a discounted promotional stay package for the future. We spoke to Marriott representatives at length regarding our planned dates for the package. We were told when to call to reserve these dates at a later date (when they would be released). Up to the date we were told to call, we placed occasional phone calls to continually confirm there were no changes in our package and that our planned peak dates were still ok. We again called the day before to confirm and were told to call the following day. We spoke with one individual named K****, as well as C******. K**** told us he would call us first thing the morning the rooms became available to schedule us. Well, first thing came and went and no phone call. We then called and were told the rooms had not been released yet still. We were told to call back in a couple days. We called back in a couple days and were again told the rooms had not been released. We were told to call back in a couple days. We called back next business day and told the same thing. Finally, our friends received a phone call and were told they could now book. When the dates we originally requested and called about the entire time were asked for, we were told they are booked. So, we basically both got the run around and were never given any real chance at booking these dates. We will be contacting Marriott customer service about filing a fraud claim given the specific evidence we have collected. If Marriott makes this situation right, we will come on this site and amend this review. At this point, we both feel scammed and would never purchase a membership with people who conduct business in this manner.Marriott Vacations Worldwide

We are very sorry to receive this negative review from Mr. *****. All dates requested using one of our discounted promotional packages are subject to availability. Park City ski resorts are very popular with our owners, who often redeem their annual allocation of vacation time during peak ski seasons. Unfortunately, this leaves limited availability for promotional visits during peak travel periods. If Mr. ***** would like to speak with a Customer Advocacy Manager about his package, he is welcome to call 800-860-9384.Review fromkirk B.

We were just plain lied to, no better way to describe the situation. The 3 hour Marriott presentation held us hostage with our newborn baby, and held us captive unless we signed their contract to buy Marriott points, or would be charged upwards of $5,000 for our three day stay at their hotel. We had to choose the path of least resistance to leave the meeting, which we were very unhappy to be in the first place with a crying baby. Upon leaving and making a few payments we attempted to use our points to plan trips and were told by Marriott representatives that the properties we desired to stay were ineligible for use, despite specifically being "sold on" these locations. After 4 years we have still been unable receive any benefit at all from being a Marriott vacation Club member. THIS IS A SCAM! I can not see how they are legally allowed to even conduct business, and should be investigated and closed!Marriott Vacations Worldwide

Mr. ****** purchased a highly discounted promotional package to preview one of our vacation ownership resorts on Hilton Head Island in July of 2019. As part of the terms and conditions for this special offer attendance of a 90-minute sales presentation for the Marriott Vacation Club program was required. Mr. ****** agreed to participate in the sales preview and was informed that failure to do so would result in being charged the leisure rental rate.
During the sales preview Mr. and Mrs. ****** agreed to purchase 1,000 club points. Owners may request their vacation stays using club points up to 12 months in advance through our Owner Services office. Owners Services may be reached at 800-845-4226 Monday through Friday from 9am to 8pm eastern.kirk B.

There are no tangible assets attached to Marriott Vacation Club packages. The Marriott Vacation Club presentations are an all out SCAM, and there is no way to use any accumulated "points" to convert into any credit. Every word during our presentation ended up being a lie, and we never received any of the products or services that we purchased. We now are in arbitration and demand a full refund!
