The hoops you have to jump through in order to get anywhere with this company is just far too much. I have been asking to get out of this timeshare, low and behold there was an issue with the points situation. I asked for this to be reversed considering they were only converted to try and get my money’s worth out of an otherwise useless purchase. A waste of money that forced my hand. They said no, and that nothing could be done at this time. Now they are telling me that they are willing to help me, but that I have to sit around and do nothing for a few months? It makes no sense to me. Just send me the paper to sign promising that you will take it back. It is hard to trust this company considering how I got into it in the first place, so I want to settle this now and KNOW that this time things will happen exactly as discussed. I want no surprises. That is all I am asking for. Let’s do the paperwork for this deed back process now, and be done with it! Then we are both held accountable.

My husband and I own several Marriott Vacation Club contracts and had them for several years. As a career Naval family, we have always worked hard to be smart and frugal with our funds and time. Frugal but not cheap. The Marriott product frankly worked until it didn’t and that happened as Marriott Vacation Club started acquiring other companies and moving to a very self-serving points model. With that came consistent, intrusive, and aggressive marketing tactics that Members cannot seem to be able to shake. Our last purchase (we have 3 paid off), was in January 2021 in San Diego, and it was like talking to a different company. Our salesman convinced us that buying points would be very beneficial to us. He knowingly and intentionally misrepresented the details of owning these points and omitted significant financial details. If we had been fully informed, we never would have entered into this purchase. In fact, we had asked for some time to discuss the offer being presented to us, but we were told that this wouldn’t be possible as the deal was only good for a few hours. When we were still hesitant, he guilted us by saying “This is how I feed my family.” Pathetic.??
We are so disappointed we have decided to step away from the company. As we retire, our adult children have no interest in having any part of this “inherited” financial burden. The misrepresentations that were made in San Diego are shocking, and the costs associated are astronomical. We have asked them to acknowledge this in writing and send us the termination paperwork and have yet to receive any response at all unless you count the bills.

We joined the Marriott Vacation Club “Family” in 2018 and have had nothing but issues and bills since. What it boils down to is the Marriott Vacation Club and its sales agents very purposefully misrepresented the facts, lied, and used high stress tactics to bully and manipulate people into purchasing a useless product. How they lure you into these presentations is with promises of “gifts”, and telling you that the meeting only lasts about 90 minutes. Our meeting was over five hours, where these Salespeople managed to lie and misrepresent the product in the following ways: MVC timeshare points would be easy to resell, and MVC staff would assist us any time. Total fabrication, good luck with resale! We were told we could use the timeshare often and could travel to international destinations. Again, a fabrication. Marriott’s portal to view and exchange points is extremely convoluted and not user friendly. We also discovered that in addition to our points, we would have to pay a substantial amount out of pocket. Essentially pre-paying for travel was possibly the biggest selling point for us, and we had clearly been lied to.
The MVC annual maintenance fees were also totally misrepresented. It was not clearly explained that we would be paying recurring annual fees on top of our monthly fees. This was a huge burden both emotionally and financially. Maintenance fees, resort fees and other taxes were never included in any discussion of price or payments for ownership during the presentation, however, we were held financially responsible for all of those and more. We also later found out that our children would be responsible for the mortgage and maintenance fees upon our passing. This was not something we intended for them to have to handle or be financially responsible for, nor did we agree to have their names included in the contract with MVC. We are so disappointed in MVC; we really thought the brand name alone stood for some level of integrity. We were wrong.

I have been locked out of my timeshare 3 times in 2 days because of a faulty lock system in which the key card does not work. Each time they asked to wait outside the. Hours of waiting and two days of missed vacation later management is offering $75.00 dollars. Crazy, I don’t want their money. On top of all this I pay over $6000.00 on maintenance fees yearly because I am a Marriott timeshare owner. Marriott management is useless. What a fool I was to buy into Marriott.

This is one of those companies that promises prime rib but don't live up to it. They lie and mislead you until they have your signature and then stonewall you into submission. We have sent messages on 12/6/22 and were ignored. Then we contacted the FTC. Vistana and Marriott’s response was to threaten us with a lien and told us to call them, like they pay us... SMH. Horrible company led by horrible people.

In review of Mr. *****' ownership profile we see that he acquired 1,000 club points in the ABOUND program on July 27, 2021. Mr. ***** is welcome to use his points in the ABOUD program to plan a terrific vacation stay at one of our world-class resorts. Reservations can be planned up to 12 months in advance, subject to availability. Currently, Mr. ***** is delinquent on his 2023 maintenance fees. If he would like to discuss the details of his ownership further, Mr. ***** is welcome to contact our corporate Customer Advocacy office at 800-860-9384 or [email protected].

Just so everyone knows, the 1,000 club points purchased as mentioned were based on a complete lie from their representative. When they refer to their Customer Advocacy group, I did contact them and they did not resolve the issue. As far as the maintenance fees, they are correct as I have refused to give them any more hard earned money based on their poor handling of this matter.
Since they want to “point the finger”, I will take this a step further. Beware before you buy into the timeshare scam. You see where they brought up maintenance fees. In those maintenance fees, the largest cost to the consumer is what they refer to as “bad debt”. This “bad debt” charge is for customers that have not paid maintenance fees, which I guess I am one now. So now other “owners” will have to pay extra because I didn’t pay. Since I did not pay, I cannot use the property. The maintenance fees are managed by an “owner’s association” . Since I cannot use the property, Marriott will try to occupy by putting it out on various travel sites. As far as I can see, there is no record of Marriott paying part of these maintenance fees from unsold units or reclaimed units.
In regards to the 1,000 points with Marriott. I technically had two accounts with Marriott, this 2021 which I never needed but was lied to so they could get a sale, and a Vistana account that I had since 2011. Until this unprofessional act by Marriott in 2021, I was a Vistana customer in good standing for many years. In 2022, after I found out about their sales tactics and my refusal to support their lie, I had planned a trip using Vistana points converted to Bonvoy points. My Bonvoy account was tied to the Vistana account. My wife’s was tied to the Marriott account. Since I refused to pay for the Marriott, they decided to freeze my Bonvoy account days before my trip. They did not freeze my wife’s account even though it was hers that was tied to it. These are the tactics they will use to get money from you.
Just beware, they will tell you anything to get you to sign on the dotted line. My original meeting with Vistana, we were convinced that this would be an investment as these properties increase in value every year. Do your homework and you will see that the worth is pennies on the dollar.

Sheraton Flex, Marriott Worldwide Vacations or whatever they are calling themselves these days, we may be old, but we are not confused that you are taking advantage of people. We are also not convinced that it is not purposeful in nature. It looks and feels like a pyramid scheme, entrapping Senior Citizens, like ourselves in an endless maze of lies, half truths and expenses. We have reached out to the company multiple times via phone and writing and have received zero help or movement towards resolution of multiple issues. We have provided names, dates, and examples of the outright misrepresentations on the sales table.
The Myrtle Beach office, told us that anyone in our family or as deemed by us, would have access to our benefits. Not so. They would have access to Disney World specifically through Sheraton. Not so. They conveniently did not provide us with the contract until after the legal cancellation period. We will be looking into the legalities, on that subject matter as well as the lack of disclosures regarding the loan terms including the “Truth in Lending” not being explicitly or obviously reviewed at the point of purchase.
Regardless of the name on the sign, they clearly do not care about their brand, reputation or looking out for the elderly. We might be old, but we will go down fighting. We have used our timeshare 3 times in 7 years, they have been compensated more than fairly for that usage.
They served us bloody mary’s during the entire presentation. They ran my partners credit without his permission, and when it was too low, they asked for permission to run mine. We are both on fixed SS income and food stamps. This is definitely a financial hardship.
We want to part ways IMMEDIATELY and wholly, but for now we are stuck with this valueless product.

Ms. ***** has been an owner at Sheraton's Broadway resort since March 2015. This is the first time that we are receiving news of her complaint related to a purchase that took place 8 years ago. In review of Ms. ******* account history, we see that she has successfully used her ownership interest to return to Sheraton Broadway Resort and Sheraton's Vistana Villages in Orlando, Florida. We also note that Ms. ***** has not used her ownership interest at all in the past few years. If Ms. ***** would like assistance with making a new reservation, she is encouraged to contact Member Services at 888-786-9637. Ms. ***** is welcome to make reservations and gift them to her family members, she can also use her ownership interests to make reservations at one of several Orlando resorts if her goal is to visit Walt Disney World.
Unfortunately, our organization does not offer any sort of a financial hardship assistance program. In the event that Ms. ***** is unable to keep up with her outstanding mortgage, then our financial services office will follow their established process for delinquent accounts.

Marriott Vacation Club has been a real pain to deal with. Not only were we misrepresented, upsold, and lied to purchase this timeshare, but now no one wants to assist in exiting due to us signing the contract. Their sales representatives just pressured me into signing the contract. I’ll be honest; many of the “perks” sounded amazing, which is one of the reasons why I was excited about owning the timeshare. Not only was my experience long during the sales presentation, but it is now being dragged in my efforts to try to part ways from the establishment. One second they state they’ll assist in exiting, and then it’s a no. They dangle opportunities to relinquish ownership right before you and take it away when they feel like it. I want to submit this formal complaint against this establishment.
I would prefer more be done to protect other consumers from you.
      Be aware.

      To Marriott,
You have either ILLEGALLY PAID DUES TO VACATION CLUB AGAINST OUR WISHES which is what ******** ************* says it looks like you did.
OR you LIED and DID NOT RELEASE OUR TIMESHARE from your Vacation Club. I WAS ASSURED THIS HAD BEEN DONE MY TELECON. Today, Interval says our account is still a corporate account! Corporate? WHAT? We want to marge our two accounts into one at Interval The issue keeping this from happening is Marriott. Your advisor says it was because of the MVC WHICH WE DID NOT RENEW. We are NOT a “corporate” anything, we own a private timeshare.
WE DID NOT PAY TO RENEW THE CLUB MEMBERSHIP in 2023. Your rep MADE NOTE AND PROMISED in a couple of weeks I would be able to call ******** ************* and combine the accounts. GUESS WHAT? We are STILL LISTED with Marriott as a Club Member, even though WE DID NOT RENEW OR PAY THE DUES!!
Your attitude is appalling. NOBODY can live long enough to get past the outer ranks of salespersons to a LIVE SUPERVISOR to remedy this mess.
We pay our timeshare costs on time. All we need is you to take care of issues if we need help.
Marriott rep today had me on hold. Finally said he couldn,t connect me to a super. They are all SO BUSY WITH OTHERS ON PHONE. I now have a "case number" and can hope for a call back 3 to 5 days out.
      My CASE NUMBER is- - - - - - -
      DEAR SUPERVISOR,
PLEASE JUST EMAIL ME REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND YOUR FIX. Email is on file.
Your own members cannot get an issue taken care of in a timely manner per telecon.terrible!

We are very sorry to learn about Mr. ******** negative review pertaining to making reservations. Without more details about where and when Mr. ****** was searching for availability, it is difficult to determine why he is having this issue. Reservations are subject to availability and honored on a first come, first serve basis. Reservations can be made up to 13 months prior to arrival when 50% of the resorts inventory is released. The remaining 50% is released at the 12-month inventory release date.

      gary j.

      Date: 02/16/2023

Words have meaning. When you say 50% of the resorts inventory is released at 13 months prior for Chairmen's Club, you need to say; "if there is inventory." We were the first member through at the 13 month mark at 9am est., and there was zero inventory available for 9 resorts. Like I said, you are oversubscribed. I fully expect to see a class action against you in the near future.

If I could give Marriott Vacation club a zero I would. I believe that Marriott Vacation Club has next to no loyalty to its customers. They take your money and do nothing to go out of the way for their customers. I have had multiple issues with the website and ability to make payments through their website. In 2023 I think this is one of the worst websites I have come across. Not to mention the fact that Marriott as an organization has had several cyber security issues and continues to expose customer information to bad actors. They merged my account with another members account without my permission, just an overall lack of regard for my information or my ability to use my points and go on vacation. Do not fall into the trap with Marriott. ITS A HOAX!!!!

We are very sorry to receive this negative review from Mr. ********. In reviewing Mr. ********** ownership profile, we see he currently owns 4,000 club points in the Marriott Vacation Club ABOUND program. It is true that several upgrades took place on the owner's website late 2022 through the end of January 2023. However, the website is now working as it should, with very few exceptions that only impact a limited number of owners. We have not had any recent cyber security threats that impacted our owner network. In review of Mr. ********** profile, he is the only individual listed on his ownership deed. If Mr. ******** would like to speak with a member of our corporate Customer Advocacy office regarding his concerns, he is welcome to contact 800-860-9384 or [email protected].
