Ive been paying a mortgage since 2019 and have made consistent payments since. I refinanced my loan and continued to pay on time. About 90 days ago Equifax dropped my mortgage off my account and reduced my credit score. *** contacted them month after month and they havent fixed the problem. Ive see reports of these companies reducing your credit score so you have to pay more for credit cards and credit related purchases. I also believe if they are made aware of a situation like mine, they shouldnt take 90 days to fix the problem. Equifax reduced my score on 7 Dec 2022 and havent corrected the problem.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:This attachment is from Equifax saying I dont have a mortgage but its on my credit report with them. The other credit bureaus have me over 780 but not Equifax. Also if you read the bottom of the attachment, its asking me to pay for upgraded service to improve my score. That cant be legal.

Account Name: FST PREMIER Account No. ************ Balance: $0.00 I am filing this complaint against the three credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. I disputed this account on 05/31/2022 because the date last active was reporting three different dates on all bureaus which is incorrect. I have not seen any changes on this account after 30 days of waiting for any verifications from the credit bureaus. Today I just pulled my report and I see TransUnion still reported 02/18/2021 as the date of last activity, Experian reported 02/01/2021, and Equifax reported 06/01/2018. This cannot have three different date last active because this was paid on the same date. This is affecting my credit health in a negative way. I am being denied a loan and being offered credit with high-interest rates because of this inaccurate reporting which has reflected in my credit scores.Business Response

Dear *****************************:
Thank you for submitting ******************************* complaint on 02/13/2023 through the BBB Complaint Portal. In their complaint, they indicated that there were inaccurate or incorrect items reporting on their credit file. Please be advised that an investigation with the furnishers of the information has been initiated. When the furnishing company provides their findings, we will send those results directly to the consumer.
In reference to the concern regarding the investigation process: Upon receipt of the dispute, we first review and consider any relevant information submitted regarding the nature of the dispute. Often, Equifax will then transmit the dispute to the furnisher of the information (ie. the bank associated with a disputed credit card) for review and investigation. Equifax electronically sends a notification of the dispute, including a summary of the relevant information submitted, to the respective furnisher. The furnisher reviews the information provided, conducts an investigation with respect to the disputed information and reports the results back to us electronically. Equifax then makes deletions or changes to the credit file. The name, address and, if reasonably available, the telephone number of the furnisher(s)/source(s) of the information contacted while processing the dispute(s) is shown under the 'Results of the investigation' section on the cover letter that accompanies the copy of the revised credit file.
If they have any additional questions, they may call ************** or they may visit www.myequifax.com. Account Name: CONNS Account No. ***** Balance: $4,943.00 I am writing this complaint against Equifax. I have been disputing this account for three years now because the reporting of this account is unverifiable and inconsistent. On 08/02/2020, I disputed this account with the credit bureaus because the date last active was inaccurate. The next 30 days after I sent my dispute I was not able to see any changes nor received any updates from them. The date last active remained the same. The dates reported three different dates. On 03/22/2022, I tried disputing this information again. I still see no changes on the dates. TransUnion still reported 12/31/2020 as the date of last activity, Experian reported 12/01/2020, and Equifax reported 12/01/2019. On the other hand, the reporting of the open date and the high balance was also inconsistent or not verifiable. I have disputed the reporting of these two pieces of information and they are still reporting inconsistently. It seems the credit bureaus are not budging to my disputes and are unwilling to get this taken care of. Please see all the attached dispute letters and reporting of this account to my credit report for your reference.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:The information Equifax is sharing with the data furnishers is still NON-PERMISSABLE. I gave Equifax no permission to furnish anything on my credit report, nor gave data furnishers any permission to share, disclose, discuss, furnish anything on my credit report.
15 U.S.C **** Section 604 A Section 2: States a consumer reporting agency cannot furnish an account without my written instructions.
Under 15 USC ****b purpose of consumer reports, THE *** CLEARLY STATES:
(a) IN GENERAL
Subject to subsection (c) any consumer reporting agency may furnish a consumer report under the following circumstances and no other:
(2) In accordance with the written instructions of the consumer to whom it relates.
15. *********** (a)(5) Section States: no consumer reporting agency may make any consumer report containing any of the following items
of information. Any other adverse item of information, other than records of convictions of crimes which antedates the report by
more than seven years.
15 U.S.C ****s-2(A)(1) A person shall not furnish any information relating to a consumer to any consumer reporting agency if the person knows or has
reasonable cause to believe that the information is inaccurate.
Equifax only updated my credit report, which is unfair given the inaccurate information on the report. Their responses to the investigation are improper. I have information with no data at all, which further perpetuates the inaccuracies, adding salt to the wound. Equifax continues breaking the law clearly, and back dooring is unfair and unethical. Equifax's claim that the **** permits them to do so is baseless. They can only do so with written instructions, which I never gave, and the furnishers are not to have information. It is the Credit Bureau's job to ensure the credit report is accurate, and is not. Equifax fast closing argument clearly shows they have no intention of getting rid of information that are on accounts that have aged. This continues violating my right to privacy. What needs to happen is the following below.
*Stop sharing information I do not authorize disclosure of
*Delete the accounts on my credit reportI know the information on my credit report is inaccurate. I am very certain of this. Therefore, I need the accounts gone, deleted.

In their complaint, they indicated that there were inaccurate or incorrect items reporting on their credit file. Please be advised that an investigation with the furnishers of the information has been initiated. When the furnishing company provides their findings, we will send those results directly to the consumer.
Equifax is a repository of credit information which has been supplied by creditors, collection agencies and public record holders. As such, we do not collect or maintain copies of contracts between consumers and their creditors. Not all companies choose to report account information to Equifax. Those that do report on a regular basis appear on your credit report. However, through our investigation process, we are able to contact the furnishers of the information and either confirm or correct the data reporting on your file. Once a request for verification of a disputed item(s) has been received by Equifax, each data furnisher will be contacted directly by Equifax. This process is usually accomplished by sending the request for verification electronically and may take 30 days to complete. Once the data furnisher's response is returned to Equifax, any updates related to the disputed item(s) will be recorded on the credit report. Once all Data furnishers have responded to our request for their review, the consumer is sent a copy of each of the Data Furnishers responses they provided to Equifax. Should you still disagree with the Data Furnishers response, please contact each creditor directly for additional assistance and/or regarding any signed documentation pertaining to the disputed item(s).

Equifax is a repository of credit information which has been supplied by creditors, collection agencies and public record holders. As such, we do not collect or maintain copies of contracts between consumers and their creditors. Not all companies choose to report account information to Equifax. Those that do report on a regular basis appear on the credit report. However, through our investigation process, we are able to contact the furnishers of the information and either confirm or correct the data reporting on the file.
