I recommend not renting from this company. While individual technicians have been professional and helpful, the company as a whole has significant issues. Communication is poor, emergency work orders take several days to address, and critical repairs are often only surface-level fixes done to pass initial inspections. Upon move-in, several issues remained unresolved: broken kitchen drawers, missing windows and screens, and visible mold in interior walls due to plumbing leaks. No insulation was installed above the converted garage space, and theres been a major delay in addressing mold and dampness in the walls. Bug issues persist due to poor ventilation and dampness in walls. Emergency call lines are routed to a third-party service that only records complaints without taking action. Hazardous debris was left behind after removing a shed including ***** nailsrequiring personal cleanup to protect a young toddler. Overall, the lack of accountability and urgency is concerning. However, FirstKey Homes did take action to prevent major hazards by removing a large tree and taking down a dilapidated shed in the backyard. While leftover debris like ***** nails was left behind, the removal itself was a positive step. Some areas of the house, like the bedrooms, appear to have been recently remodeled with new carpet. The kitchen sink faucet and hose work well, and the water heater provides consistent hot water. On cooler days, the house retains a comfortable temperature with little effort. While there are many areas for improvement, some of the upgrades and removals have been helpful.

If I could give this company a 0, I would. This is very clear warning! RUN do not walk. I've rented for different companies for over 12 years and I've never seen a company so out of sight, lack communication, lack of follow through and follow up on issues in my life. I pay my bill before or on time. i purposely put myself on autopay so that my rent & other bills are paid on time. i have an amazing credit history and rental history. Any landlord would love to have me as their tenant. But this company that forces you to not put utilities in my name have missed the ***** From move in which was May 2024 until Feb 2025, I did not get charged a gas bill. It wasn't until the dead of winter when I didn't have heat and couldn't cook is when the maintenance *** told me that the gas was cut off. How?? I was then reassured that because the gas account was brand new, I wouldn't be charged for their mistake. But in April 2024, I received a gas bill which was for Feb 1-19th in the amount of $1508.85. Now we ALL know, no one uses $1500 worth of gas in 19 days. I've called, emailed, spoke to yes energy management, different property managers and yet to resolve issue. On May 28th, yes energy emailed me confirming that I was incorrectly billed and it will be resolved by June 11th. I thought we were actually going somewhere but nope. My ledger has not been updated with the accurate amount owed. I'm getting eviction notices even though I paid the rent and utilities. I refuse to pay the $1508 when we both know it was an error on their part. I don't have it! No one has proactively follow through. I ALWAYS have to initiate the call/email to get anything going. It's now going on July and I'm still facing eviction because of this and they won't allow me to pay my **************** that were accurately billed because of this issue. I can't terminate my lease early because they'll charge me over $4k. I want to see the actual gas bill not from ********** but from the actual gas company!

A bunch of crooks they dont deserve even a one star. They are always lying and adding extra fees to keep from paying and then file bogus evictions and legal fees.

This has been the absolute worst experience renting through First Key. The customer service is god awful, their response times to fix issues is inexcusable at best and the nickel and dimeing fees are unbelievable. If you think about renting with First Key, DONT DO IT. It should be illegal for them to even operate business.

Dealing with this company is hands down the worst experience I've ever had in my 20 years of renting homes. We had so many problems with them from day one, continually, repeatedly, throughout the entire tenure of our lease and even beyond that when they unfairly stole a portion of our security deposit. It's impossible to talk to anyone who can actually help you, all of their phone lines route you to the general help desk where all they can do is write support tickets for the local office to help you. And then the local office just ignores your emails (they offer no other form of communication) and leaves your issues unresolved. This happened so, so many times. I have so much regret for ever signing a contract with this company. They do not listen to you, they do not care about you. All they care about is their bottom line, and redirecting your frustration to the folks they hire that can't actually do anything meaningful to help you.

This is the absolute worst property management company I have ever worked with. I have rented a lot in my days and I could not be disappointed. We have only lived in this rental house for 4 months and it has been constant issues since. When we moved in, it was disgusting, was not cleaned before move in. Nothing worked, the fridge was out and the lightbulbs were out in rooms. trying to get things fixed was a nightmare. There is not a person of contact, you have to go though a series of support numbers and emails. Then someone came to fix things BEFORE WE MOVED IN and I got charged a fee because I was not here. I had written emails and proof of all communication and still had to pay it. Now the *** is crazy here and violates for everything, which is fine but you have to send pictures of the problem getting fixed, but you have a million different email chains and threads to send pictures to, it gets lost so we have had to pay $45 fees almost every month. Their customer service and communication is the worst I have ever experienced. SO many things dont work, theres a whole patch of wall they didnt paint because they clearly didnt close the door to see behind it. We had to pay for pest control as soon as we moved in because it was tons of bugs. *************************.

If I could I would give negative stars for this company. We rented from them for years and it has been the most awful experience. Not only do they not respond to issues promptly and you have to wait months for anythingthey also lied about our amenities paperwork being finished to give back to our HOA. For how much money we pay to rent out this house we should not be waiting a month and half to be able to use our amenities. An awful company.

Would be No stars if I could 10% ***************** This is our 3rd Summer in this house and they just simply will not fix the Air Conditioning I have put in over 10+ requests to fix the ** and they never do Its the same thing every time I wish I could just move out But everyone in the real world knows doing so is not always a easy task because it literally takes $100s to $1000s of dollars to move with first last and security for a new place and moving cost like boxs, trucks, help Not to mention the cost to break the lease First Key Maintenance Techs are terrible They will come take a look say they are going to ********** and never return *********** literally does not care about the wellbeing of their tenants. It is literally ***************************************************************************** the Shower on 100% cold to cool my body. I have small children that complain and it just isnt fair I cant cook as its already 86 degrees in the house so cooking will only make it hotter. I just called FirstKey and they left me on hold for 1 hr and 10 minutes before they hung up They never call you back when you request to speak with a supervisor. Please please please learn from my experience and Do Not sign a lease with them!!!!

I recently toured two homes listed by FirstKey Homes in ******* and was shocked by their poor condition. As a prospective tenant, I expected basic cleanliness and safety, but what I found instead were health hazards, neglect, and complete disregard for tenant ******************* #1: *********************** The house had visible ******* vents were filthy and appeared not to have been serviced in years. The entire home smelled foul, and the tap water had a strong, unpleasant odor. The property was never professionally cleanedit felt abandoned and ************* was in such poor shape that my husband and I felt we shouldve worn gloves and masks just to complete the ************* #2: ************************************************ This home was infested with cockroachesdead and alive. They were in the kitchen, bathrooms, under the carpet, and even crawling on the walls. The house had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, making breathing hard upon entry.Bathrooms showed signs of mold, and air vents were caked with dust and dirt.I had an allergic reaction during the tour and had to leave the property early. The garage smelled terrible, the backyard was overgrown, and overall, it was completely uninhabitable. Both properties were presented as move-in ready, but they were anything but. This kind of negligence is not just unprofessionalits dangerous.I am leaving this review to warn other renters and call attention to FirstKey Homes' lack of maintenance, cleanliness, and quality control. Listing homes in this condition is unacceptable and shows a lack of respect for the people and families trying to find safe housing.I sincerely hope this company takes serious corrective measures to improve property standards and tenant safety in the future. No one should be exposed to these kinds of conditions during a simple tour.
