This is a corporation that cares about nothing once you sign that lease.I am in the ******* area. House we found has solar panels, which we thought would be good for reducing electric. Agent told us AFTER we moved in that First Key disables solar panels on all homes.Have been having trouble with AC. House gets over 82, which is state maximum. Their techs have been out four times trying to fix it. The third time they blamed it on my air filters and charged me $105 for the visit, and still not fixed. Finally on last visit, tech told me it was approved to replace the unit. Thought my troubles were over. Then the ********** calls and says they have only been authorized to test it, not replace. Temp outside is 109 on 6/9/25. Supposed to be 111 by Father's Day. And my AC doesn't ******* is impossible to call someone local. All calls go through a call center. When I finally got someone to call me back about AC, they said we just have to wait to see what vendor says, nothing has been approved to be replaced. Woman was very rude, constantly interrupted, and then hung up on ****** do they have an A+ rating with all of these complaints? Trust the reviews and Stay away from First Key.Stay away from this company at all costs. I don't

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! If I could give this company 0 stars I would. My father and I moved in on December 2024 and it has been nothing but straight c*** living here! This place hasnt been inspected before we moved in. We have no insulation underneath the crawl space which increases the electricity/gas bill. Theres rodents crawling around where the exterminator has stated that its unsanitary to live here. The breaker trips every other day and FirstKey stated that its our coffee machine that is creating the issue. EVERY TIME we file a complaint, FirstKey either patches up the issue like it didnt happen or were responsible for the issue. This company is a **** and isnt worth anyones money! Their customer service is from people out of seas and you cant hardly get in touch with anyone from *******. You cant easily get in touch with YOUR OWN PROPERTY MANAGER! We are NEVER renting from this company again and we let people know to not rent from here. This is a HORRIBLE company that needs to be looked at inside and out.

We are currently FIGHTING to get our deposit back because of the absolutely terrible repairs done by their maintenance workers. Ive attached photos that clearly show the problems and the garbage work they did. This company is an absolute joke! Good luck getting anything fixed, and when they finally do, its the worst quality repair you can imagine. I paid over $2,000 in rent only to have my ice maker break and remain unfixed for SIX MONTHS, despite multiple visits from their incompetent repair people. The water line broke in the garage, and they did a janky job that looked like it was done by amateurs. When I moved out, they tried to charge me for that same janky drywall repair! The same thing happened in the spare bathroomwater everywhereand they attempted to take that out of my security deposit too. They hired a roofing company to do our roof without even informing us, so I woke up to random men in a truck in my driveway at 7 in the morning. I tried to get the gutter that blew off during the hurricane put back on, but that repair ticket went completely unnoticed. The gutter is still not fixed after a year!If you have females under 18 in your home, BEWARE! They hire some sketchy people who check out underage girls while in the home. I recorded the whole encounter, and they never fired the repairman. This company has been an absolute headache to deal with. Not to mention, they raise your rent every year of your lease. Do yourself a favor and rent from someone else or another company. Youll thank yourself later!

I am filing this complaint due to repeated instances of poor communication, mishandling of *** violations, broken verbal assurances, and being charged for pre-existing issues that were reported during move-in.On May 6, 2025, the *** issued a violation notice for lawn care, which was sent directly to FirstKey Homes. However, FirstKey did not inform us until May 13seven days later, well after we had already mowed the lawn on May 8 (weather had prevented us from mowing earlier due to nonstop rain). We submitted photo proof immediately upon receiving the notice. Before receiving the charge, I called FirstKey and spoke with a representative who assured us over the phone that we would not be charged. Despite this, a $45 non-compliance fee was added to our account anyway. We feel this fee is entirely unjustified, and FirstKey has not honored the verbal assurance their representative gave.We initially reported a dead tree during our move-in inspection. FirstKeys response at that time was simply, It shouldnt be a problem, and nothing was done to remove or address it.On May 13, 2025, the *** issued a violation for the dead tree, with a compliance deadline of May 30. However, FirstKey did not notify us via email until June 2, after the compliance deadline had passed. We were given no prior warning or chance to correct the issue in ******* make matters worse, when FirstKey finally forwarded the violation, they told us that we would be responsible for the cost of removing the treedespite the fact that it was a pre-existing issue, reported in good faith during our move-in.This is now the second instance where the *** has sent a violation notice to FirstKey, and FirstKey has failed to notify us in time. Both times, the delays in forwarding the ***'s email caused us to miss the opportunity to address the issues by the compliance deadlinedespite our efforts to maintain the property and communicate responsibly.

Dear BBB Representative,I am following up on my recent complaint against FirstKey Homes. Despite my multiple phone calls, emails, public reviews, and the complaint I submitted through the BBB, the company has still not resolved the issue or provided any meaningful response. At this point, I feel I am being ignored. I have made every effort to communicate and allow the company the opportunity to make things right, but they continue to neglect the situation.

On 05/29/25, I applied to rent a property through FirstKey Homes. After visiting the property in person, I proceeded with the application process, which required submitting sensitive personal and financial information. However, my attempts to follow up with FirstKey Homes were met with significant obstacles. The contact number provided connected me to a call center, which appeared to be located in *****, rather than a local representative in *****************. Despite multiple attempts, I was unable to speak with a listing agent, landlord, or any authorized representative who could address my inquiries or provide clarity about the application process. The following day, I received a sudden and unjustified denial of my application. FirstKey Homes claimed that my information did not verify, despite failing to request or review critical documentation, such as my identification or proof of income. Furthermore, when I attempted to log back into their system to address the issue, I discovered that my account had been rendered invalid, effectively locking me out without explanation. This abrupt termination of communication, coupled with the lack of transparency, suggests a deliberate attempt to dismiss my application without due process. Most alarmingly, FirstKey Homes retained the application fee I paid, along with my personal information, leaving me without recourse or a clear point of contact to resolve the matter. As a result, I have been left without the rental property, out of pocket for the application fee, and deeply concerned about the security of my personal data. This experience has been not only frustrating but also indicative of potentially fraudulent practices.I strongly urge others to exercise extreme caution when considering renting from FirstKey Homes. The lack of accountability, inaccessible customer service, and mishandling of personal information raise serious red flags about the legitimacy of their operations.

First Key Homes is very disappointing. I submitted a 60-day notice as instructed by the call center to schedule a move-out. The property changed management companies at least 3 times. Key Homes was interesting. I replaced the refrigerator during COVID-19, never asked for my money back ...and I should have. I spoke with the call center and the local office to confirm my 60-day notice, and they, of course, offered me lower rent to stay. I declined. I receive a ledger (bill) with a long list of charges, including late rent....."NEVER BEEN LATE!" I was given my pro-rated rent, which I paid on time. I continued to receive emails advising that I was late, although I had moved out and paid the pro-rated rent. The ledger includes a charge for an outlet cover for $229.67. Wow. You have got to be kidding! So horrible and simply appalling. Who does business like this?

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have rented two properties from FirstKey Homes and both times were bad experiences. Their move out inspector will break outlet covers to squeeze every nickel and dime they can from your deposit and keep most if not all of your deposit despite how ckean you leave it. I highly discourage anyone from renting from them.

I dont know about these other folks, but I have had a wonderful experience! Got a beautiful home with very few problems at a great rent price. I have been here 3 years and will very much miss this house when I have to move. The Memphis office and maintenance crew have been great. Friendly and patient.
