I am writing to express my frustration with Intoxalock due to an unfair charge and poor customer service. On May 27th, my ********************** device registered a false positive reading. I immediately retested within 40 seconds, and the device showed a ***** blood alcohol content, proving I was not drinking. Despite this, I was still charged an $80 fee for a lockout.When I called Intoxalock, they instructed me to recalibrate the device, which I did. However, they still refused to refund the $80, claiming I had already used my one-time courtesy fee removal. The previous courtesy removal was due to a medical situation where I couldnt blow accurately after dental work, and I only had the device for a short time ******* is unfair and unreasonable to be charged for a false positive when the immediate retest proved my sobriety. The lack of proper resolution and the inconsistency in their policy application are unacceptable. I hope that by sharing this experience, others are aware of these issues and that Intoxalock will reconsider their policies and customer service practices.Business Response

Intoxalock respresntative sold me a 12 month interlock device that i had to pay to get installed and would have to pay the get installed. Representative ******* *** lied to get me set up next day both the lease price and calibration fee have ended up being more than promised. Each time I call im told to wait ***** hours for a Resolution and am told its too bad. This company is a classic bait and switch providing flat low numbers to customers like 20$ calibrations but then service center is charging 37$ each time and they say there is nothing they can thats a labor charge. All these hiddens service center labor charges and taxes are never discussed. I wish i could this device out of my car but the company will not give me the money back spent on initial install. This is being reported as a lock out. The vehicles battery is constantly being drained by this machine. The car died but was able to be jumped and driven to the shop for calibration. It was never locked out. The company states it's locked out but given 5 days to get it the shop. That is not how it works. This has happened multiple times, killing brand new batteries, causing 3 lease extensions. And violations reported to the state. I want a billing adjustment and the violation to be removed from my account.Business Response

I have an Intoxalock system in my car and this has happened many times. I have nothing out issues. Went to get my car calibrated and I got charged for a lock out. I took time off work to have device removed from my vehicle. Intoxalock had insured me 2 different times that on May 27 at 9am I was scheduled to have the device removed . The service center did not receive any paperwork for the removal . Removal was delayed by 6 hrs .thats 6 hrs I missed at work .... at 40$ an hourBusiness Response

They, have taken ****** on May 13 and another ****** off my cash app card without my permission. I contacted them the first time they took the $195 out and they pretty much informed me that they can do what they want. This company is an ignition interlock device company that provides a device in your vehicle to blow into in order to drive without using alcohol. I had it installed on January 29, and within the first *********************************************** over $200 to have it towed to the nearest place to have it fixed. I was told I would be reimbursed for that toe, but have not been.Since then, the device has malfunctioned a number of times Ive had my car towed three separate times. Twice the device has locked me out mid-drive, in other words, I had already started. The car was in the middle of the trip, I was asked to blow on the device again, and it would not accept my breath, it kept saying retry and blow harder next time. It does this for five minutes straight it locks you out and you either have to Drive straight to a place that will fix it or park and have your car towed. Ive had this happen to me twice in the last 10 days where they charge me an additional $75 for the lockout, which is nothing that I have done, plus a reset charge of $55. It is a faulty device. They continue to charge me these over charges, despite the fact that it has always been a fault of the device. When I initially called and contracted this company to install the device in my car they promised a number of things such as discounted recalibration rates, discounted installation, etc., and they have not honored any of it.They will not allow me to talk to the original sales person who signed me up, I am always redirected to a call center in *****, which is of no help at all. I think this company takes advantage of anyone who has to have the device and they basically are a bloodsucking entity.Business Response

I purchased a vehicle at an abandoned vehicle auction that had this company's interlock device installed in it. I called their customer service line from their website (on 4/24/25 and waited on hold for over 2 hours to reach someone). After explaining the situation, they said I needed to contact the Interlock Recovery Team that handles these issues *************). I called that number and waited on hold for another 30 minutes to talk to someone. I explained the situation again and was told I need to contact their ********************* via email for assistance with this *********************************************** On 4/25/25 I emailed the ********************* with proof of ownership and their device serial number asking for assistance in getting the device removed. Emailed again on 4/29 and 4/30. They replied 5/3 saying they couldn't locate "my" account. I replied 5/3 restating that I was not the account owner. 5/4 they reply asking to call customer service. 5/4 I reply stating I did that and was directed to the email. I emailed again 5/7, 5/10, 5/13, 5/20, 5/21, 5/23 with no response except to tell me to call customer service. I have explained several times that it is not my account, I do not need the device, and I am a NEW owner of the car. I have also provided all of the requested prior owner information and still get ignored. I have a completely disabled vehicle without them removing their device, and I can't even get them to reply with the next steps to get it removed. I have also called several times and each time been directed in the same loop (cust service says call recovery team, recovery team say email compliance, compliance says call cust service).Business Response

I have a date to see the administrative law judge in order to appeal to have the ignition interlock device removed on June 9th. Per the state of Michigan requirement rule 13a( R *******a) we must submit an Ignition Interlock Final Report. Multiple Attempts to get this report have been unsuccessful by myself, my wife and my attorney . When calling the customer service center, there isn't one representative who can clearly define what a final report is and refuse to send it to me. I asked to be transfered to a supervisor and was met with aggressive tone and almost unwillingness to transfer me. When transfered I spoke to someone on the speciality team who still did not know what a final report was but offered a final calibration. When I asked about obtaining the ignition removal report I was told that it would cost me 175 dollars to get this report which is not in the lease agreement as they have stated.i should be able to request this report to provide to the court for freeBusiness Response

Blew into the machine it started on the second blow it went off as hot then 3mins later it blew clean again. I didn't drink nor eat anything during that time and alcohol was not involved. I called them, told them the situation and they said they'd review it. Days later they said it was a valid reading even after I told them I did nothing wrong.. There would have been a lease charge on 05/31 but after the lockout fee being waived, Mr. ******* will not have a lease charge and has a credit balance of $24.32 that will cover a portion of his next lease charge.
