I have been attempting to close my account with ********************** for well over a month. My reason for deciding to stop utilizing Stericycle is due to their poor customer service. In closing my account I need my final pick up date and the amount I will owe for terminating my contract early. Every time I call I have to speak with a customer service rep who tells me they have to contact me to another specialist who is always unavailable to speak to me. Then I am told I will receive a call or email from this other specialist and I receive nothing. I have made multiple attempts to obtain the information I stated above.Business Response

Our contract with Stericycle began 04/01/2018 with term of 36 months from the effective date with automatic renewal for successive terms equal to the original term unless either party has given (60) days notice, in writing, during the six (6) month period prior to the renewal date of its desire to terminate this agreement. I have been trying to cancel the contract for years now. I did attempt to mail cancelation letters but according to Stericyle representatives, they had not received any of my letters. Prior to the initial unwanted contract renewal, I contacted our account representative numerous times to cancel services however he repeatedly delayed the cancelation by sending me new contacts to sign for services with better pricing. I continued requesting cancelation and informed him numerous times that I didnt want to extend any contract. I asked to speak with his supervisor and was told he doesnt have a supervisor. I asked for an updated mailing address to send the cancelation letter but he wouldnt provide me with it. I then contacted customer service and was told that particular representative was no longer employed at Stericycle however that same representative contacted me that very same day requesting another contract. The customer service representative then advised shed provide our facility with a new representative. To date, although *** requested several more times, Ive still not been provided a new representative. Ive called for assistance with cancelation of services many more times. Each time Ive been given a reference number and put on hold (***** minutes each time) to talk to a service specialist only to be told all account specialist are busy but I will receive a phone call within 2 days. I do receive an email confirming the request number however I have never received a phone call back. When I call Stericycle to follow up, ** told the reference number that Im calling about has been closed without resolution but they cant explain why they didnt call to resolve the issue. During each call to Stericycle, Ive asked for an updated mailing address to mail the cancelation letter but until today, no one has provided one. Of course, now that Ive been provided a new mailing address, Im outside of the time frame for canceling the contract without penalty and who knows if the mailing address Ive now been provided is even accurate. Regardless, I mailed another cancelation letter today, certified as always.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I was verbally told services were cancelled as of 2/28/24 and I have received an email with a confirmation reference number however the email does not specify that services were cancelled. I was verbally told the company would not be picking up waste again however I've received emails saying the company will be picking up waste today therefore I can't be certain that the company is complying with the agreement to cancel services.

I opened up an account with this ********************** location on October 1, 2022, for my medical clinic. My initial contract was for sharps and medical waste pick *** quarterly. By January 2023 I realized that I was not going to need such frequent pick *** and contacted them to change my contract to biannual pick ***. I have been contacting them for the last 14 months and finally just received a response from someone yesterday. I have continually been bounced around from one person to another, no one will return my phone calls or my emails for this entire time period. All the while they have been charging me for the quarterly pick ***, and I have only received one pick up in the last 17 months. That was on April 19, 2023, over six months after starting the contract with them. And I had to call their dispatch multiple times just to get that. This is called fraud, and by reading all of the reviews, I am not the only person this has happened to. They need to be criminally charged. When someone finally reached out to me yesterday, I was told that they would credit me $75. This is a joke, and not a funny one.Business Response

Have had biohazard service with Stericycle for several years now. Over the last 2 years there have multiple missed pickups, however we are still billed and never get a pickup in between the missed pickups and this is both on the Stericycle and Shred it side. I closed another location we had early last year and we are still being billed by stericycle for this location, though I was assured by two representatives this would be taken care of and it has not. We pay for HIPPA/OSHA training portal that we have not had access too now for months yet are still being billed. I have emailed and called SEVERAL times requesting a resolution to these issues as well as to speak with managers and my emails are not being responded to. At this point I have no clue what else to do as they are completely unresponsive and unapologetic for the lack of service and accesses being provided. I have had to contract with another company just to get OSHA and HIPAA training for my office to which I of course have to pay that vendor while still paying Stericycle for the same service without access. I have also inquired about terminating my service with Stericycle and Shred IT because of the horrible customer care and lack of follow through and I have been told because someone not me within my organization side another contract with them. However no one other than me has the authority to sign anything on behalf of the business and when I asked for this contract I have yet to receive it, same for the Shred IT side, my operations manager asked for a copy of our contract to compare with another vendor and she was told they could not provide it and she would need to wait a few days, that doesn't seem ethical to me and once finally received it has no information regarding term dates or anything information a contract should include.Business Response

I have been trying to close my company's account with ********************** since January 3 (it is now February 19). My company relocated, and contacted Stericycle to close the account on January 3. I've called again on 2/14, 2/16, and 2/19 to cancel this account and I am continually told that the account closure is still "in progess." When I ask how long it takes to close an account, I receive no detailed answer. Meanwhile, I've accumulated 2 invoices in this time frame of trying to close the account. The building has been vacated, so no service has been provided. It should not be this difficult to close an account.Business Response

I cancelled my account back in October of 2023, and they are still charging me for services that I do not want. There is a balance on my account that should not have been incurred because I closed the account prior to to service. We have been using Stericyle since 2014 for hazardous waste removal. I was told we had a month to month contract and it could be cancelled at anytime. We are now being told that our "contract" automatically renewed itself, without notification and we are locked in for another 5 years!Business Response

Account # ************ with ********************** closed in October 2023. Contract agreement was to pick-up my medical waste every 3 months. Last pick-up was May 2023 and I continued to pay monthly invoices through August 2023. I closed out my account, expecting a final pick-up. I have been calling Stericycle since October 2023, each time being promised 1) a final pick-up and 2) a supervisor would call me within 24 hours. Neither of these have happened. A recall notification went out in august 2023. I immediately filled out the form because my dehumidifier is on the list. I then contacted them several times at toll free number to ask where the return packet is? I received the packet on Nov 30, **** and followed the instructions exactly. I tracked the package which was delivered on Dec 7,2023. It has been more than 6 weeks and I havent gotten anything not even acknowledged by email. I called today and am told even though they received package on Dec 7 they didnt put it in the computer until January 9, **** and I will need to wait another 4-6 weeks. This is a stall tactic and should be illegal. I just want my refund since I had to cut the cord and buy another dehumidifier right away.I am told Customer will need to contact Styricyle who is handling the recall. I requested to cancel my services with Stericycle in Dec 2023. I have no contractual obligations for waste disposal service. They confirmed that they received my request and had all information necessary to proceed. I continued to get statements for two months. I was promised updates for my request and never got a reply via phone, nor email. I have spent over 4 hours on the phone over the last two months trying to connect with an "account specialist" to figure out what is going on. I was promised three different times that I would be contacted within 48 hours with an update and never received such. I continue to get billed for the services that I am supposed to have canceled.Business Response
