1 starHad to leave them from high rates on auto insurance. How are allowed to be in business in America with a BBB rating "F". Organizations like this are scams in this country. What is really going on here! Stealing from the customers just to give higher rates and no justice for damages. Statefarm is soulless down to the child that inherent your godless behavior. I appreciate your effort to hurt the people in this great country!Review fromKaren M

1 starDoes not stand by their "Vision".
I am filing a formal complaint against State Farm Insurance regarding the handling and denial of my recent property claim for roof damage. I believe the company has acted in bad faith by failing to properly investigate the damage, refusing to provide documentation supporting their denial, and disregarding professional evaluations from licensed contractors.
Following a weather event that caused significant damage to my roof, I submitted a claim to State Farm. I engaged two independent, licensed roofing companies to inspect my roof. Both concluded in writing that there was substantial storm-related damage that necessitates a full roof replacement. Their findings included evidence of functional compromise beyond ordinary wear or cosmetic issues.
Despite this, State Farm’s adjuster concluded that the damage was due solely to granular loss. To date, I have not received any formal written denial, explanation, or documentation supporting their decision.
I have appealed the decision internally and I am also turning to the Better Business Bureau because I believe my claim was mishandled and denied unfairly, and that my concerns are not being taken seriously within the company’s internal process.
I respectfully request the BBB’s assistance in resolving this issue by urging State Farm to:
Provide a formal written explanation for the denial, including the full adjuster's report and supporting evidence.
Reopen the claim and conduct an impartial reassessment, taking into account the third-party expert reports.
Ensure the review is handled by a qualified and experienced supervisor or director.
Thank you for your time and support in addressing this matter.Review fromTony H

1 starSo this is June 2025, my wife was involved in a single car accident with no one else in the car in May. She hit a pole with her vehicle. State farm full coverage insurance, $250 deductible. A little over $5000 worth of damage to the left front corner. No I just assumed it was going to be fixed, my mistake. Instead, they tell us the vehicle is a total loss and offer $6700 as compensation. I was a little surprised at that offer, but thought maybe I was mistaken. So I did some checking on the local market. Turns out I was correct in my assumptions, replacement vehicles with the same year, equipment, and mileage are coming in around $10,000. So I contact the adjuster to see what can be done. She says I can send in comps from one of four places. I find four similar vehicles in my area and send them in. She says the one that is $10,200 is the only one that meets their criteria, but it supports her valuation of $6700.
We call the local agent, they say there's nothing they can do. So now we are stuck. They will not allow us to retain the vehicle if we except their offer. If we want to replace it with essentially the same vehicle, we have to come up with another $3500 or so. What a terrible and stressful experience this has been. I'm beginning to wonder why we even have full coverage insurance if they're not going to cover the cost of replacing the vehicle anyway.
I am very disappointed in state farm, and will be dropping them like a hot potato as soon as this is settled. This also includes the money they were making from our home insurance, that will go elsewhere as well.Review fromGail O

1 starMy roof has had alot of wind damage this year. Roof contractor advises putting a new roof on to avoid major problems. Which I have had some water damage to my bedroom ceiling. Contractor was kind enough to fix the damage temporarily as I had some roofing shingles left over. Been paying State Farm for many many years never filing a claim. Filed one for a 5yo roof and they're giving me 115.00 after a $500.00 deductable on a 2500 sq ft home. I will be finding another insurance company.Review fromMarissa T

1 starI was involved in a car accident 5/19/2025. It involved a 4 way stop to which the other car and myself both reached the intersection at the same time and hit corner to corner. After taking the statement of the other driver and mine, they declared the accident to be 100% my fault even though I had made a full stop. The other driver told the police officer that she saw me come to a stop, yet she chose to continue without acknowledging who goes first. State Farm claimed the other person was already in the middle of the intersection when I decided to go. If that were the case then we would have not hit corner to corner. When I asked them about other evidence (pictures of the accident), they told me they don’t look at them due to how cars are made to crash and that I should consider a dash cam in the future. Why submit photos of the accident if they don’t consider them in the investigation? I’m very disappointed. I’ve been with this insurance company since the day I started driving 14 years ago. Yet I pay almost $300 a month to be under their care. To add, the other driver also has State Farm. I feel that State Farm did not have my best interest or choose to try to defend me at all even though it was a clear 50/50 accident.Review fromMichele L

1 starI was given a place to take my car to for repairs (G***** ********* * *****) by my insurance company, State Farm Insurance. The accident happened on 4/1/25 and the repairs were scheduled to be done on 6/2/25 and quoted to cost $1,215.69. The car was taken there and 2 days later they called and said there was more damage and that it would cost approximately another $300 after I put the guy on the spot and asked him to tell me how much because I had a high deductible and would be paying it myself. He first said what difference does it make because your insurance will be paying for it. When I picked up my car on 6/7/25 they gave me a bill for $2,414.57. This repair should not have cost any more than $1,500 or $1,600. They added on a vehicle diagnostic calibration for over $900 that was never discussed in any way on the original estimate or the phone call regarding other necessary work that they found needed to be done. I think that this was a scam to make me pay the full $2000 deductible that is on my insurance policy. They had 2 months to let me know about this cost and I could have gone elsewhere for other quotes. They never gave me this option because the insurance company told me to go to G***** *********. I have asked State Farm to investigate this scam and I keep being told that this is normal practice. One person even told me that I should not have such a high deductible and then I wouldn't have to pay that much. I have such a high deductible because they keep raising my insurance even though I have never had a claim in more than 30 years and this is the only way to keep my insurance costs down. They have excuses for why they keep raising the price as well even though there has been no traffic violations or accidents in over 30 years. People need to be aware of what they are doing and someone should be investigating this if this is a normal practice because it sure seems like a scam to me.Review fromMichael c

1 starWe will see if I can leave zero stars for this review (no it wont let me I have to give them 1). I cant tell you how much my insurance has went up over the last four years. We have hail and storm damage to our roof. The contractor told me it could take 6 months, almost 8 months later and they are only willing to pay for half of my roof, I know nothing but I could see the hail damage in the pictures that were taken. They would have totally ignored the damage to the inside of my home but I kept calling about it. No contractor wants to take on a laundry room ceiling issue. I was told we could do it our self and submit receipts. If they wont pay for a complete roof with detailed documents from a roofer they sure as shoot wont pay from my Home Depot receipts, there's no way they will pay me for my time to make these repairs that would be cheaper than a contractor. Not to mention what happens if there is some serious hidden damage in my ceilingReview fromCindy C

1 starRon Mills State Farm Troy Missouri
I received a call from Ron's office that my Condo insurance was not set up properly and I needed to find other condo insurance for my 3 condos. This was upsetting because I should not suffer from their mistake, they should fix the issue to protect me as the customer. I had been a loyal customer for years, never late on payments and never had a claim. Instead I was forced to find another insurance, and I was given two weeks. A******* ****** was happy to take my business so I called State Farm and cancelled the insurance on 4-1-2025. A month later I receive statements for payment, I assumed it was a mistake so ignored the statements. Weeks later I received late payment reminders. I called Ron Mills office reminding them I canceled the policies per their instructions on 4-1-2025. Two weeks later I received reimbursements with a cancellation date of 5-15-2025. Since I was shorted 6 weeks of refund I called Ron's office and left three messages. Ron is not responsive and not returning my calls or correcting the refund. This office is unprofessional and dishonest with their refund policies.Review fromStephanie T

1 starThis company is a scam! They steal your money and when you actually need them they delay, deny and defend. My home was hit by a tornado and they have bounced me around to 4 adjusters, are stating “normal wear and tear”, blatantly lied to the Illinois department of insurance! Took no accountability for their no show no falls, damaged my roof even more from putting tarps on and off 5 times and still are denying. Get rid of State Farm and never look back! What they’re doing is criminal!
