My mom is 88 and paid for long-term care with Bankers Life. We started to use her policy last summer to pay for a caregiver a couple of days per week. The long-term insurance company conducted a site visit last June and determined that she needed assistance. Bankers Life approved her eligibility, and her claims were being paid. In December, Bankers Life conducted another evaluation through Zoom, which was approved. She was scheduled for a valve replacement in late January; unfortunately, a week before the survey, she suffered a stroke and spent a month at ******* Hospital. She came month in February and needed to resume her private pay services in addition to PT, OT, and Speech.Bankers Life told us that she could resume services, especially because she cannot be left alone and needs more care than before the stroke. Several claims were made about Bankers Life. Two months after her release from *******, the insurance company said she needed to be reevaluated to be eligible for payment and services. They scheduled a nurse for April 11 through Zoom, to which a letter was sent. Bankers Life just informed me that the Zoom reevaluation nurse indicated she does not need any assistance, and Bankers Life wont pay, yet she was approved twice before the stroke and value replacement.I have had conversations with the case manager *********************** who states that part of the reason for not providing eligibility is because ******* Hospital did not send her MDS paperwork. ******* is a long-term acute hospital, not an MDS facility. They did send a 36-page report to *********************** in February, and on May 4th, when ******* contacted ***********************, she admitted it had been sitting on her desk since February. There is even a copy on my mothers Bankers Life portal that Bankers Life uploaded. It is clear that they wont approve her eligibility because she had a stroke and needs more services.

I am the power of attorney for my father, who has a home health care policy from Bankers Life. The claims process has been a nightmare to navigate and seems to be set up in such a way as to discourage people from actually using the policy. There is a lot of paperwork required that needs to be itemized and submitted each week in order to receive any claim money from the policy. These forms need to be printed and signed by each different person who is providing home care services. If one caregiver misses filling in a date by their signature, then the whole claim gets rejected. There are many specific requirements like that which are used to trip up and deny or delay claims. Service is all handled through an overseas call center, which has limited ability to actually answer and support the work required for the claims. I have asked to speak to a supervisor or for a number to call to further complain or appeal, but have been unable to do so. In our family's case, it took a year, literally almost a hundred pages of submitted paper, and hours on the phone before we were able to finally receive our first payment from a policy that my father had paid into for almost 20 years.

Couldn't get me to someone that either knows what company you're hiring to make calls on your behalf, or who can join in on the federal case to complain about someone claiming to be colonial Penn. (Seems they must be approving of these actions)Stop the spam calls Not approving of the people making the calls? Help track down the people making the calls.

I got a quote and stated a policy on April 2nd. The policy was Supposed to start May 4th then, they took the money directly out of my account on April 4th and I did not authorize that and it ******** my account and it takes 9 business days to get the money back and now I'm screwed I'm gonna have fees that I'm responsible for an overdraft fee because they took money out that they weren't authorized to take out. Not a good way to start business. Very money hungry company that should be paying my ***** overdraft free because I authorized the withdrawing but on May 4 not April 4!

An agent from this company cold called my parents, telling them she wanted to set up an to appointment to discuss ******** options, claiming she wasn't selling anything, merely providing information. My mother consented to an appointment after some badgering. My stepfather has Alzheimer's, and my mother has had a stroke causing some memory issues, for context. This agent proceeded to show up and hard sell a long-term care policy. She spent at least 2 hours at their home relentlessly selling the product, and confusing my parents. When my sister and I discovered this, we encouraged our mother to cancel and go through her trusted broker instead if she wanted a supplemental policy. She called the salesperson to cancel, and was told she (the agent) would have to come back out for another house visit in order to cancel the process. While at their home for a second time, this salesperson confused my mother and had all sorts of excuses why she couldn't cancel yet, and that she could only cancel through the agent. So, after another several hours of talking to my mother, the agent again left without cancelling the policy and without giving her the address and phone number of the company so she could call them herself to stop this process. AND the salesperson INSISTS she needs to come back for another visit to actually cancel the policy. On top of the unethical selling tactics, my mother received an email stating that she'd receive everything electronically. On the signed application paperwork my mother has, the box consenting to receive electronic correspondence is NOT CHECKED, and my mother has clearly stated she wanted paper copies. I am now stepping in to try and get this cancelled for my parents. I can find no information on cancelling this process. In fact, my mother is unsure whether or not a policy has been issued or if the application is still in process. In an either case, she wants the process to be cancelled. Highly recommend staying away from this company.

I have never be so frustrated in my life until now dealing with my mother's ********* care policy. The claims was filed 2 months ago, I have contacted Bankers Life 8 times in the past 30 days and everytime I speak with a representative they tell me paperwork has been sent to the assisted living facility where my mother is. And everytime it was just sent 2 days ago. The assisted living facility has not received it yet. All this is doing is delaying mother's payment, which is her money she paid into for years. The only thing this us proving to me is Do Not waste money on ********* Care insurance you can't get get when you need it. Put the money in a savings account monthly, so it's available when it's needed.
