I requested my account to be deleted, along with all my information and resume from CareerBuilder.com. They have not, and their response to me is very concerning as it is saying they have the right to keep my information on their platform despite my request. CareerBuilder.com has concerning business practices for they also use "dark UX" patterns where the user is met with many obstacles and/or are not given the standard ability to accomplish a task that may not be in the company's favor; in my case that is deleting my resume from their site (there was no delete functionality for me), deleting my account and information from their platform. The issue does not appear to be resolved and I fear they will continue o use my information without my discretion despite my request.Business Response

Hello. There is no record in our system with the email ***************************. Our support team communicated this information on March 6th and asked if there are any other email addresses that could be associated with you. The email example that you attached from the support case is dated January 20, 2025. Please let us know if you have any recent examples of communication from Careerbuilder.
We can confirm that your information is no longer searchable in the Careerbuilder database. That said, any employer that downloaded your profile or resume information while your account was active will still have a local copy of your resume. Once that happens, CB cannot control communication behaviors from other entities. Also, there is the chance that these companies are using the name of Careerbuilder to legitimize contact. To recap, you no longer have an account with ********************** and the information has been purged as requested. As such, we cannot provide a list of entities that accessed your profile as your data has been purged.

I applied for ONE job through their portal and uploaded a resume for the one job. I did not upload to their portal but was immediately blasted with texts and emails from various companies to sell products, which is not my industry.I went on CareerBuilder but in order to stop this I had to register and they had incorrect info from when I used them 20 years ago but I left it because at least the email was the same. I turned OFF resume shared to the public even though I never shared one with them to begin with. I am still getting emails and texts from random companies for jobs I did not ask for. They obviously pulled my correct information from the one resume I sent to one job.I went again to their site to delete the account but in order to do so I had to 2 step verify my email which I am sure will lead to more unsolicited emails and no deletion.Business Response

Hello.
Thank you very much for the feedback. The two step email verification will not trigger any additional communicate. We use it to validate that the user requesting the delete is the user and not someone else. This step triggers the automation which deletes your account from our system.

I am rejecting this response because: I was told from my Complaint ID: ******** that I would no longer receive emails from recruiters and that my account was expunged so I accepted the closure. However, I have since received three more emails from recruiters, even after being told this! I know it is CareerBuilder that they are using because they say so i.e. - Hi ***, I recently received a copy of your resume that you had posted on CareerBuilder and I am interested in talking with you about an opportunity with our company. I NEVER posted my resume, only applied to one specific job and am now being hounded by recruiters.Sincerely,

Hello. In the previous response, we advised to go ahead with the two step email verification has that helps with user verification. This process triggers the actions needed to purge your account from **********************. As for the profile aspect, uploading a resume triggers the profile creation process. This screen is pictured in the attachment. The screen also indicates and account will be created and links to the Careerbuilder Terms and Conditions. As for your account however, we can confirm that your information is no longer searchable in the Careerbuilder database. That said, any employer that downloaded your profile or resume information while your account was active will still have a local copy of your resume. Once that happens, CB cannot control communication behaviors from other entities. I am rejecting this response because: On Feb 14th I did the verification and turned off any public access to the resume that I never shared for public access. Your request # AQVF2W4BPL.I reached out to the Talent Acquisition Specialist at ********************* after your reply and she confirmed that she pulled my resume off of CareerBuilder on the day she wrote me, March 3rd.
So, I don't believe a word CareerBuilder says and will continue to collect these texts and emails for prosecution.

Hello. The recruiter cannot have found your resume on CB as of that day because there is no account with your email. Your information has been purged from our system. As we mentioned, once an entity downloads resume/profile information, they have a local copy of it. While the source may have been Careerbuilder, the profile is no longer active on careerbuilder.com. I am constantly being harassed by career builder after I explained to them that I did want anything associated with this company after seeing the reviews. This company would continuous call at very unusual hours regarding to listing of jobs in different states and Im trying of telling these individuals to that I want nothing to do with them. They would also play games and pretend that they are going to have a supervisor reach out to me about this issue, but unfortunately it continues to happen.Business Response

I have sent several emails to Career Builders customer support ******************************** asking for complete deletion of my account because their online deletion form doesn't work. I received 3 replies asking me to verify my email addresses: ********************** and ****************** I have tried to do so immediately and even though the verification requests stated I have 3 days to reply. When I've tried to click on the button to comply I received an error message "your link has expired. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This link has expired due to inactivity". Since I kept getting the same error message 3 times I attempted to respond, I finally sent them an email on 1/11/2025 stating basically the as I've described above. No response.Business Response

I signed a year *** agreement to purchase job ads for 1 year. The first 9 months were great, but after i started having my service drop by 90%. I emailed my account managers, met with them many times. They were unable to help me. I told them on sept 11 that if my service didn't improve, I would not renew my MSA or continue for another year. On Oct 12 I emailed them again telling them I was barely getting any applicants. (They did nothing but point me to another support person, who also didn't do anything) My account manager ******* and ***** were useless, as they didn't even know how to navigate the dashboard properly and couldn't even tell me how to properly post an ad. They told me to watch these so called live webinars on how to post job ads properly as they didn't know very well. I finally request a cancellation on Nov 11, and they immediately told me they would finally investigate my issue with the 90% drop rate. I told them I would no longer continue regardless and still wanted to cancel. for weeks they refused to send in the cancellation request, they even emailed me saying "please dnt cancel we will fix this" I told them I would no longer keep paying for a service I was loosing money on. They kept insisting. Finally someone from their department sent in my request and I had ****** ****** email me saying that he would look into it but he couldn't guarantee my cancellation because apparently I have an auto renewal on my contract and they need 45 day notice before otherwise you are locked into a 1200$ monthly payment for another year. This is crazy!! considering I never authorized an extension nor did I ever sign an extension for another 1year. I even specified in my email i sent on sept 11 that i would cancel if service didn't improve a few month before my contract ended. they now, have stop replying to me ******, ******* and *****. They charged my account 1200$ again last night! I cant believe the treatment they have shown to me after I was their customer for 1 year.Initial Complaint
