Worst bank, DO NOT BANK WITH THEM UNLESS YOU WANT TO RUIN YOUR CREDIT SCORE AND TO PUT YOUR PERSONAL HIGHLY SECURED DATA IN DANGER.

Should be a MINUS 5 rating. I was researching Discover Financial for a family whose heirs still have not received funds after their father died well over a year ago. They won't answer the family and won't even answer their attorney. Our bigger beef is what is wrong with the Better Business Bureau system that they're giving the business an A+ accreditation when the customer reviews are 1.13 out of 5. And on Trust Pilot, the reviews give a 1.7 rating out of 5. The BBB rating is very misleading and I'm sure must result in people doing business with them based on their accreditation.

Avoid this company. We were asked for the same documents three or four times. Each time I called, I spoke with yet another person who was not familiar with our application. That person checked, told me the document was received, and low and behold, two days later, another request. The person reviewing the documents couldn't perform simple math, and I had to keep doing the math for them. They can't read a simple paystub. The reviewer misread our tax returns, and sent a notice that we needed to provide alimony and divorce information. I responded that our tax returns were misread. That portion of the returns is blank because there is no divorce. Rather than admitting the mistake, I received another notice asking for our marriage license. When I sent emails to our so-called personal banker and his assistant letting them know the problems we were having, and asking for a return call, neither had the courtesy to call. They kicked the can and blamed underwriting. Nearly four weeks later, we were still nowhere, so we canceled the loan. One week later, we received a letter stating that our loan was declined. DUH! We canceled the application. They have no idea what they are doing, there is no continuity, documents are misread and no one can perform simple math. Not worth it. I would give this company zero stars if I could.

I attempted to pay an $8 balance on my credit card, using the bank account I have used for years. I thought this was successful. Later, I see that my credit score is 70 points lower because my payment was not processed. The account that had worked for me for years had a processing error. I was a customer for years an no one bothered to contact me before destroying my credit over $8.Instead of responding to this by reading off whatever is in their system log, I hope that Discover will read my review and see that ruining someone's credit over $8 is a ***** response that would be unbecoming of a loan shark. Expecting that loyal customer to shoulder the blame for technical inadequacies is also unethical.

Discover has no accommodations for a surviving spouse who is an authorized cardholder on an account with decedent spouse as the primary. After more than 31 years with Discover Card, when I reported my husband's death, they closed the account immediately and made me reapply for a new account with no buffer time for any incoming charges. Instead of transferring my dead husband's account to me, they informed me that I had to start over. My $20,000 credit line was reduced to $2000, and I was told to wait at least 6 months before asking for an increase in credit. This is ******** since I have been paying the bills as the sole worker in my household for more than 6 years. In addition, they could not open up a new account on the spot, and I'm having to wait 3-9 days to receive a new account card. I waited over a year to call and cancel the account because I had many of my bills autopay to this Discover Card, and it was a good thing that I did wait. I reported the death because I wanted to open up an online Discover banking account and deposit a huge sum of money into it, but with this type of service, no way! I always loved Discover in the past so this poor practice knocked them all the way down just like my credit. I understand the implications of death reporting to credit bureaus, but this practice of total cut out is ridiculous. Married people - open up your own individual accounts now!

Im really disappointed in Discover here lately. I requested a lower interest rate in May 2022. I was told I was eligible (retention purposes) it was drop from roughly 23% to 17% for get this 1 whole monththey said this is due to the current variable (market) rate.they should inform customers of this possibility. Also, recently made a dispute on a relatively small charge (first dispute eve in roughly 5 years) dispute denied due reasoning which I submitted proof of contacting the merchant my concerns went unanswered. So I reached out to Discover for assistancePoIntless! Also staff members dont listen and do what they want to do regarding your account

Discover has kept ******** refund due me for overpayment since December 2022. I have contacted them every month to get me refund. My Discover app says that the money was sent out in the mail on March 1st. On the 15th I contacted them inquiring about my check. They cannot give me a tracking no. They now say they do not have my check and are not responsible for the money they kept for now kept for 3.5 months. Please help.

I had the WORST experience with this company. They gave me the run around asking for document after document after document and after 3 months just when you think you are done they need more documents. No loan takes 3 months! I was lied to over 4 times by 4 different people. I finally said I not giving you another document and canceled the loan. Applied at my bank and the money was in my account in 3 days. My bank didn't ask for a single document. I had 220k equity in my home. This company made me prove I had $6800 in my bank account. Why? What does it matter? After I had to wait a month to get my actual bank statement they then wait weeks later. After that money was gone to say oh we need another bank statement (4th one now) to verify you have $6800 in the bank. If ********** much money sitting around why would I need a loan? Who has that much sitting around these days? We have good credit and this company is horrific. Of someone can close on a 500k home in 30 days how come it takes 3 months to close on a SECURED 70k loan? Ridiculous!
