DO NOT APPLY HERE EVER!!!!!!!!!!! They wasted 3 months of our lives, hit our credit twice because their system broke, had to transfer our file with multiple back and forth issues, zero communication and constant paperwork requests over and over only to end up declining our application and the lady laughing to us over the call when we tell her how frustrating this process has been was the cherry on top. WORST MOST STRESSFUL EXPERIENCE, HORRIBLE RUDE PEOPLE.

I was approved for a discover card & used it once soon after receiving. I then left for a short trip on a friday upon getting to my location i attempted to use the card for my hotel. It declined, which was surprising, I called customer service and was told they couldnt help because a security block was put on the card. I called again the next day to get clarification, since there had been no attempt to inform me the card had been blocked, I was told I needed to get a notarized form sent to them which they would review taking **** days prior to releasing the card. I called monday for an explanation for the whys and was told they just do this sometimes. They could not tell me any flags, any reasons, anything concerning what might cause this. I asked why I didnt get notified either by phone, mail, email, or any path, they have no answer. I can still log into my account which doesnt say blocked or any message letting me know there is an issue. Im still receiving emails letting me know features and security options etc. Nothing Ive received indicates any issues. I asked to speak to someone who could shed some light on this issue but was told I would get the same answers. This is a major problem to me. I want a real explanation with some detail.

I have had a discover credit card for over ten years. I am working with a financial consulting company and they reached out about POSSIBLY participating in a ***. They would not agree and then proceeded to close my account. I asked if there was anything I can do to reverse this action and they said no... that with any inquiry of a potential *** the account would automatically be closed. I was livid. I had been with them for over ten years--with positive payment history, mind you-- and without alerting me, they closed my account. I had planned on continuing my account with them regardless of them denying the *** but that won't be happening, against my wishes. I am highly disappointed. On top of that, I was given the run around for two days while calling trying to figure out what happened.I do not recommend if you're looking for a financial institution who cares about their customers.

We applied for a 2nd on our primary residence. We have a small rental portfolio and only after we uploaded nearly 100 documents and waited 3.5 weeks did Discover mention that they only count rental income for properties with 2 years of rental history. WTF. We have properties that we purchased in 2021 and 2022 that are professionally managed and have been rented continuously for over a year and they wouldn't count any of the income. They also failed to properly distinguish between a performing note and rental income and would only count 75% of the note income towards our *** even though there are no expenses associated with the not income. Our "personal banker" was impossible to reach and underwriting guidelines should that should been disclosed the first week were not mentioned until we had invested hours of time uploading documents and responding to e-mails from Discover. Like other reviewers I called to dispute the *** calculation and never got a satisfactory response.

Discover is racist towards minorities, if you make a large payment on a card with them, from your bank that you have been using to make regular payments from. They will not show that you have paid down the card with the large payment, until up to 8 business days after they review that the payment is the legit. Meanwhile the funds are already out of your bank account. If you want the payment to show quicker and the funds be availableon the credit card, you have to three way to your bank with Discover on the phone, so that they can verify the payment came from your account, which is very disrespectful, because they are treating you like a child at that point. They say that normally when you make a payment it takes two business days for funds to be available on the card, but yet if you try to pay off half or all your balance on the card, it takes up to 8 business days for funds to be available after they do research. This process can effect your credit, because when your statement closes that is the balance that is reported to the credit bureau, so let's say statement closing date is 09/02/2022, you made a payment to pay off the last statement balance that was $3,000 on 08/31/2022. That payment is not going to show you paid off the balance to the credit bureau until the next month, and you want to use less than 30% of your credit card. But the 0% promotions do not help your credit when making purchases, because your credit usage still needs to be less than 30%. If you had a large purchase using way more than 30% credit card utilization, your credit will take a hit for that one month, but by the way Discover takes care of large payments made to them, your credit can take a hit for two months.

To anyone thinking about doing business with them, please steer away. There was a maintenance announcement scheduled from 6:00 AM TO 6:00 PM. Services and funds could not be accessed. Its a weekly/monthly occurrence so I think nothing of it. I try to use my card the following day - declined. I call and receive a generic response to wait TWO ADDITIONAL DAYS. Not only were things being double charged but they are taking a FULL WEEK as of tomorrow to allow me to use the money I provided in my account. They havent sent an email or any other notice. To add to that, none of the reps are of any help. This is a MAJOR concern considering myself and others have not been able to get our funds. I should also that that even though I have quite a lump sum in both accounts, it states I have $0.00 in my debit and that is a lie. Please figure out other means while you get scammed and hit with stupid remarks when trying to access your money.

Apparently my payment card expired and instead of charging my main bank account they gave me a "recurring check fee" which who knows what that means. When I reached out to fix it and pay my small bill off they said they wouldn't drop the 30 dollar fee off and then gaslit me saying it was my fault. I immediately paid it off and cancelled my account, and I'd warn you to do the same.

I have been a card holder member since 2009. I have made payments early each month and never once missed a payment. This year I decided it was time to pay off my $2000.00. I sent in my payment in January almost a week and a half before due date as usual. Well guess what never cleared, yep my check. ( also to close the account) It had been a week or so after the due date when I received a new statement saying i was late for a payment. So I called Discover to see what had happened and all they said was we had a new late balance and never received it in the mail. They did say we could pay over the phone. So the next day I stopped payment thru my bank on the check that was lost and waited another day and called and paid the balance off. Well guess what mysteriously shows up I guess, yep you guessed it the check and the tried cashing it even w a zero balance on my account. This is a dirty way to do you customers and run a business. The *** and and business practice of Discover should be ashamed of themselves. I hope this saves someone the headache I went thru to call over the phone and pay off their bill so you don't try and **** every dollar you can from them.
