On March2,2023 I purchased my 2010HondaCRV with a warranty through my bank MNVFCU;I was contacted by this Sky Protection Warranty in October2023 and was told I need to make 18 months of$189.21 payments towards my warranty in order for mechanics to work on my vehicle. My bank warranty was only good for153,000miles;I contacted my bank September 2024 regarding my mileage as I was over the mileage to prevent future payments to be taken out of my credit card as payments were taken out of my credit card by SS Vehicle Warranty.I contacted my bank on 9/27/24 to discuss my warranty and the loan officer noted I would not be making separate payments for my warranty as it was included in my auto loan. This is when we discovered I have been scammed and have been making monthly payments of $189.21 since October 2023-Sept2024. I was advised to contact *********** and inform them of our findings; I was directed to contact the warranty and was provided with the phone number ************. I contacted the phone number and spoke with a representative; I informed this representative of my findings. The representative directed me to email ************************************************************ a photo of my odometer along with my "account number"that was *************. When I attempted to follow those prompts the email was not found. I was directed by *********** to keep all contact documented with this warranty. I attempted to receive call logs from my ******* account to prove I have never once called the warranty until today to request reimbursement for all payments I have made as I have been making monthly payments for a warranty that does not exist. I was never presented any documentation nor needed to sign anything when the warranty contacted me. Upon communicating with the representative, he stated I contacted them, and our conversation was recorded however I have never contacted them until today to seek reimbursement for all payments I have made. I have submitted a dispute with ***********.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I have never contacted this company up until my bank and i discovered I had been scammed. I have never received any paperwork regarding their warranty. My bank at ****** can ensure I purchased a vehicle warranty through my bank. If my warranty through my bank is needed, I can provide that information. I have attached an email I attempted to send to the company and the email was fake. As those were the steps they requested from me. I had been making monthly payments to a company that never provided me any documentation. I as a person would never contact someone I do not know. I disagree with their response and find it to be false.
Sincerely,

Complaint: 22350847
I am rejecting this response because: The representative gave me that email address and stated I only need to provide a photo of my odometer and my request for reimbursement to that email address ( I write this down on a notepad while I was at work). In their response they are requesting additional information that was never asked from me when I first made contact to the company when my bank and I both noticed I was being scammed. I give permission for the company to provide BBB with our recordings. In addition there are two separate emails provided in their response. I was never mailed any documents in regards to the warranty simply proving there was never a contract as I never signed for anything. I do not feel comfortable reaching out to this company with my personal information just to get reimbursement. I literally have no documents from the company proving I had a warranty. I am willing to provide BBB with a copy of my warranty through my bank MNVFCU, if necessary.

They harass my wife and I with letter every other week. Thankfully we were smart enough to ****** it beforehand and learn its a scam thats affected 100s of people. This place needs to be shut down. Weve called them on several occasions and when we finally get through to their customer ********************** we tell them to stop sending us letters all the time because we know theyre a fake company. At which point they usually hang up on us and continue to send us letters. Even when weve moved and changed addresses, they somehow manage to learn of it and they just follow us to the next place.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I have in fact called their customer ********************** line. And have received this specific letter in the mail several times at different address. You can claim you don't track address as I described, but that's obviously a lie due to me receiving them at different addresses without ever notifying you guys. You can close this out, but I wanted to make it known they're lying and the deceptive wording of their mail should be considered trying to scam people. I appreciate you adding me to the no contact list, but I've also been told that before.

After I bought a new (to me) car, I got a letter from this business suggesting that they were the warranty company that the car dealership used, and it gave me a phone number to call to set up my warranty. I did so, but then two months later my bank flagged a suspicious payment to them that I did not authorize. Despite telling me on the phone that I only had to pay an activation fee, they tried to charge me another $200. I'm very glad my bank caught it. The letter I got was just a predatory marketing scheme that took advantage of the fact that I had been overwhelmed by paperwork.Business Response

In July, I received a letter at my new stating I needed to activate my truck's warranty or lose coverage. I called August 11 2024, and questioned the activation fee since I had already paid for the warranty in full. The *** assured me it was a one-time fee of $198.80, so I paid. Today(09/11/2024) I noticed another charge for the same amount. When I called, they said it was a monthly charge, which I never agreed to. Again the call in August they explicitly stated it was a one time charge. I want a refund for both charges, my card info removed, and the policy canceled. Supposedly they will be refunding me my money.Business Response

This company purposely targeted a new vehicle owner through advertisement spam mails who is an older immigrant and is non-English speaking. This company is not even an official car warranty service, they are a third party who tries to scam unsuspecting vehicle owners with their targeted ads. They targeted the non-speaker customer with generic ads such as "your car is not under warranty" and sent pink slips to seem like official notices. Once on the phone, the worker confused the customer's daughter (also an immigrant) with various long and roundabout questions, long elaborate and indirect answers and dragged the conversation on. After a long conversation, they targeted the vulnerable and confused customer with a predatory "car **********************" but claimed they would only be charging a very small one-time consultation fee for the moment while the customer thinks about the ********************** they were trying to sell. Not only was the fee not one-time, it was also very expensive, being $240.34 a month. The customer did not agree to these charges, did not agree to this warranty, and would like a refund seeing as how they were scammed with multiple fraudulent charges when they did not agree, nor did they have any invoices, receipts, emails, texts, etc., sent to confirm either the payment amount or what was being paid for. This company continued to charge for a "warranty" yet provided no warranty number nor paper documents sent to confirm such a thing nor did they even offer what they claimed. This company has a long history of scamming customers and charging monthly without the customer knowing or their consent, as shown from their reviews and history on the Better Business Bureau.Business Response

Complaint:22132456
I am rejecting this response because:
Hello BBB,
To begin, this company has a long history of scamming which is apparent from their online reviews and hundreds of complaints filed against them just within the past couple of years, therefore, there is empirical evidence they conduct these scams frequently and they embellish the story to better fit their narrative. For example, I can refute many of their claims. First of all, during the call never did they say it was a recurring charge, they hide the fact it is a recurring charge and hope they can keep doing monthly charges on unsuspecting customers which is evident from the hundreds of other stories people have shared of the same thing happening to them from this fraudulent and dishonest company. Secondly, they either mass send spam mail, or like they said, targeted mail to unsuspecting customers. I do not know how they have obtained information of recently purchased vehicles owners or their address because that is not public information nor have we ever consented to have our purchase information shared. They have access to customer information such as addresses, name, etc. without our permission and have obtained this information solely to target scam unsuspecting customers. They are not a local company, and are located nowhere nearby and are actually multiple states away, and based off the location from complaints/reviews online this company conducts nationwide scams by targeting and misleading customers all over the country. In fact, on their letter mail, it painted their warranty as something required for newly purchased vehicles. The letter made it seem like we were involved with them prior but due to oversight on our part we must have forgotten to call to activate it. It stated we needed to pay to continue our warranty or forfeit it.Also, it has been months and we have not seen this so-called package and do not believe we have thrown it out as we do not throw our mail out before checking the contents. This company does ***eated target scams, with fraudulent and misleading information, in order to scam customers behind their backs by charging multiple times despite claims it was a "one-time" fee.Coincidently, other complaints have shared the same experience as ours.
During the call, the sales *** used multiple different tactics, like long winded answers and questions, reading off from long paragraphs, bringing up non-relevant information, etc, to throw the customer off and slip in any quick information without the customer knowing or understanding fully. Thirdly, this business is clearly disorganized within their own company because we have already contacted them to cancel before making this complaint which this *** should have known if they did not just send back a cookie cutter response, most likely this is just one of the many complaints they deal with on a daily basis. Aside from looking up a timestamp for the call the Sky Auto *** clearly does not have a grasp of the events regarding my issue nor what occurred. Hence why they have a separate team dedicated for dispute resolutions because they know there have been and will be multiple complaints and disputes against them, this is atypical for a company unless they expecting this outcome. Again, they kept saying it was a "ONE-TIME" fee, I was never told this is a down payment, yet they ended up charging multiple times hoping we would not notice, and unfortunately did not notice until 2 months later. Furthermore, a confirmation number is not a receipt, it does not list the charges or state it is recurring. They have our number, address, and emails so why was there not any invoice, receipt, or statement mailed or emailed to me for every monthly charge. If what they said was true, which I disagree with, then that clearly demonstrates on of the shady practices Sky Auto Protection operates in order to take advantage of newly vehicle owners for quick money grab from charging recurring monthly fees under the radar.
Thank you.
Sincerely,Business Response

I have been paying the warranty for over a year and the first claim I file they deny because of aftermarket parts. I have had the truck like that since I bought it. It came with an aftermarket cold air intake. If I would have known that it was not covered I would have never bought the warranty.Business Response
