I received a letter in the mail only weeks after purchasing my new 2024 ***** CRV from the "Vehicle Services Division" regarding my 2024 *****. The letter stated I had not yet activated my vehicle service contract and must do so before 10/09/2023, or otherwise have my eligibility for service coverage revoked. Having signed up for vehicle service coverage from ***** just a few weeks ago, I assumed that this phone call was necessary to officially activate it.Upon calling the number, I was asked for a one-time activation fee in order to have my factory warranty all set. I provided my debit card information and was told I was good to go. This week, I discovered that $161. 46 has been withdrawn from my bank for the past 10 months by this company, who never disclosed that I was enrolling in any type of monthly service.Bank of America provided me with a telephone number: ************ as well as ************, which belong to a company called Sky Auto Protection. Upon calling the number and asking what company this was, they responded: "This is your car warranty," and upon asking if this was my ********************* they answered "State Farm does not cover everything, we are your extended warranty which covers the rest." ************ surreptitiously implied that they are a partner of State Farm and somehow compliment the car insurance plan that I have with them. Upon researching the company, I have discovered that they are scammers who deliberately lead people into believing that they are their vehicle manufacturer with deceptive mail letters. As a non-native English speaker originally from ******, I am seeking a refund from this company due to their manipulative tactics but do not know how to go about reporting this deception.Business Response

Date of transaction - 5/31/23 Amount of money paid to business - $3,166.95 What the business committed to provide me - an extended warranty because they claimed I didnt have a warranty. What the nature of the dispute is - they lied to me. They sent me a letter stating that I didnt have a warranty on my car and that I needed one. This was not the case. I found out today (8/2/24), through my car dealership that I am covered under warranty.Whether or not the business has tried to resolve the issue - No, they have not. They told me that I might as well just finish the remaining payments, so that I am covered. They said Ive pie this much already, I might as well just finish the payments. I do not want to do this. I want my payments back prorated. If the issue involves advertising, when and where the ad was seen or heard - It was through the mail. They sent me a document with my VIN number, and other personal information. It made me feel like it was important.Business Response

Purchased vehicle protection on 6/24/24 for the verbally agreed upon purchase price of $229.42. I had a vehicle claim. When I called and received a copy of my contract, the agreement purchase price was $4,359.01. I explained that this was not the price I was sold the agreement under. The company refused to pull tapes of the original call, despite it being recorded. As my original claim was during the "validation period," authorization for the initiation of the repair under the terms of contract was unable to be authorized. When I called back after the "validation period" had been met, SKY Auto Protection still refused to authorize the repair, despite a "Pre-Existing Condition" being defined as before the "Agreement Purchase Date," not barring found during diagnostics occurring within the "Validation Period." In addition to all of this, one of the representatives I spoke with during these incidents quietly and shamefully said "we thought you sold coke." I have since cancelled the contract. I am seeking financial coverage for the full amount of the repair.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:I'm writing in response to the latest communication regarding ID# ******** involving Sky Auto Protection. I am requesting a full refund of $458.84. I am also requesting an additional $458.84 to cover the time and hassle it has taken to resolve this matter. I have requested a refund due to misrepresentation of the cost verbally made in the initial service agreement by phone and the misrepresentation of covered repairs in the contract; the hassle this has caused to resolve is clear. Attached is the copy of the payments made.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:While speaking to a representative for ******** over the phone, after I made the initial claim and was quoted information not matching the explanation in the contract, which does not appear to even be signed by either party, I was told that the business would be happy to refund the purchase as I was not given a product that matched the original pricing quoted to me or the description in the policy.

I was contacted by direct mail by Sky Auto protection. The wording on the mail made it seem as though my auto protection warranty was going to expire or was expired and that I needed to renew my coverage. I contacted them (even though I had never contacted them before) and they said they had my account and all of that. I've been paying for a warranty I don't need, or never applied for and the wording in their direct mail made it seem as though my original warranty was through them. I eventually found out that my warranty through them was something I don't need and wont need for another year at least and I feel scammed.Business Response

I need refund for my money (2 months payments that have been taken from my account). They lied just to get money of customers. I received a letter from Sky Auto Protection services on the second week of June about extended warranty for a new car I had recently purchased. It came with "coverage ID#**********. They had a lot of information about my new car, where and when I purchased it and they proceeded to explained that I did have a car warrantly from the maker but it was not comprehensive. The sales person, whose name is *********************** offered me a 5 year or ******* mile-what ever came first extended guarantee for $279.97, for electrical and mechanical services with a $100 deductible. This would be a "one time only charge." I should have known better that this was too good a deal to be true but she sounded extremely professional and I did verbally confirm with her this was a one time payment and that it would cover the service as promised. She gave me a confirmation #************. well, they are doing recurrent charges. I have called three times to cancel this service because it was sold UNDER FALSE PRETENSES. As a matter of fact, they have 550 NEGATIVE reviews on BBB that I wish I had seen before agreeing to give them my card number. This is NOT buyers remorse and I will not be gaslighted into believing this is my fault. Also, and very important, *********************** promised I would receive a booklet containing my contract and the terms of the warranty but, to this day, I have not received anything. I did not think about this until I saw that second charge that I realized I had been scammed just like the other 550 people that filed complaints. I a want to cancel their services and want the $279.97 withdrwan from my account on 7/15 reimbursed ASAP.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: The statement in the response letter is completely false. I do have comprehensive car insurance and I mentioned this. This particular service was sold to me as extended warrantly for mechanic and electrical issues the car may have. Also, the sales person, ******, was very adamant this would only cost me ONLY $279.97 dollar an it was a ONE TIME withdrawal to my account. This business has several complains that are eerily similar to mine. They are underhanded. This is almost run like a scam. They did not record the call because there was no announcement of such. As a matter of fact, the sales people do not provide you with their full names and refuse to do so.
Sincerely,

I received a letter from Sky **** that my warranty on my brand new Elantra needed activated. I was told I would have a 1 time payment to activate my coverage for up to 5 years. I received a fraud email alert from my bank a month later saying I am being charged again from them. I did not agree to a contract. I called my bank and had to have my card deactivated so they could not charge me again. Again, I never agreed to a contract. Just an activation. They pretended to be my car's warranty provider through the dealer I bought from.Seeing all the negatively towards this company on the BBB, I can see I got somewhat lucky that I caught this scam earlier. PLEASE SHUT THIS COMPANY DOWN I'd love a refund from the company, but it would need to be in the form of a check because they will never get any banking information from me ever again.Business Response

Payments have been made from the card over the following months.I want the payments to stop and be returned. as soon as possible.Business Response
