I locked my keys in my car and needed help getting into my car so I went online and found KeyMe locksmiths online. When I originally spoke with them about needing lockout service they quoted me at $93.56. so I agreed to it and gave them my card info. After we get off the call I go and look at the charge on my card, that's when I noticed that I had a charge from them for $193.56. I want my money back because they took it upon themselves to charge me more than what I was quoted. That's not right and not fair.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/10/2025

We are sorry for any confusion regarding the price of the service. We reviewed the call and the customer was quoted an accurate price of $193.56 in two separate calls. Due to the confusion, we have issued a $100 refund to the customer.

On 3/4/2025 at 2:51PM EST, I contacted this locksmith company to rekey my locks. They said a locksmith would call me. At the time I didn’t realize this wasn’t a locksmith store and instead a service center that sells the contact info to actual locksmiths and pockets a finder’s fee.

After realizing this I asked them to cancel. Since that day, I have been receiving calls from random numbers, every 5 minutes of everyday.

They are clearly selling your contact info to random companies and they refuse to do anything about if you ask them to be taken off their list.

We are sorry to hear about the customers experience. When they made the initial call to KeyMe, our automated systems states the call will be transferred to a local locksmith in their area. The call information is provided to the locksmith who could complete the service. We will reach out to our partner and request no further contact.

They are purposely misleading customers, making it seem like they are locksmith company when they actually just give your number out to other locksmiths / contract out.

Please see attached images of their misleading website where they have “locksmiths” working with their logo on them.

They also have “locations” everywhere but it’s actually only a kiosk. Note the images they use - “locksmiths” working.

They should remove these images and make it clear they contract out all of their work. Instead of pretending to be a local locksmith company.

      Hello,

To be clear, KeyMe does provide locksmith services under the KeyMe brand name. There are areas in which KeyMe does not have a direct locksmith. In these cases, we want to make sure the customer is taken care of and offer to connect them to a locksmith that can assist them.

You are misrepresenting your services. You’re not a locksmith company, you’re a call center.

I’ve only gotten spam calls every 5 mins from NY after contacting your call center. To the day. See attached image.

You're falsely advertising and unlawfully sharing contact information.

I’ve called and asked to be removed from this call list and that has not happened weeks later.

I was told one price over the phone then another price at arrival. When I called him out he looked dumbfounded as if not to understand what I am saying. Then he lowered the price 235. I called customer service and was hung up on 2x. I was told off record 151. Called customer service they said lowest 169 I said that's not true he says 151. I was then asked how much I get paid so they can come up with how much to charge. Agreed finally on 120.

We needed a duplicate fob for our 2005 ********. The fob would work to start the car but wouldn't lock/unlock the doors. I called KeyMe. KeyMe connected me with a technician named D**** S******. After giving D**** a very detailed breakdown of what we needed (fob duplicate, and a working lock/unlock function), he confidently assured me that he could do it, no problem. D**** said the total would be $350 dollars.

D**** arrived, and after 2 hours, the dash and center console of my well cared for vintage ******** was literally destroyed. I assumed D**** was going to have professional equipment capable of programming a new fob key. He didn’t. But I didn’t know that at the time, I simply went in my house while he worked on the car since he said it was an easy fix. I would NEVER have allowed him to work on my car if I knew what he was going to do.

After destroying the dash and console, and being unable to reassemble it, D**** claimed that 1). Whoever worked on the car previously was to blame. And 2). That the damage I was referring to was already there.

And the key fob was in the exact same non-working condition it was in before D**** arrived, minus a destroyed dash board and console. When I told D**** this was unacceptable and that I needed to call the company to resolve the issue, he fled, leaving the car in pieces. I of course did not pay D**** since he did nothing except damage my car. I ended up having to take the car to my mechanic, paying almost $300 to have the interior reassembled. And the cuts and gouges to the leather caused by D**** won’t be fixable since it’s a vintage car. It’s been over two weeks of back and forth with KeyMe, where various representatives have given me conflicting accounts of what’s happening and what the status of my refund is, lying more often than not.

I want the money I had to spend to reassemble my dash and center console returned to me.

The incident occurred on February 9th. I locked myself out of an apartment I share with my partner. We called a locksmith around 8:30pm. They arrived around 9:15pm. We asked how much it would be on the phone and he said he would tell us when he arrived. We didn’t question any further as we thought maybe he needed to see the door and specific lock/handle. The locksmith arrived and we asked again before he started the service - told us the price. However he did not tell us the means of how he would get us in. He ended up forcefully prying the door open with what seemed to be a big screwdriver and ended up damaging the door. He was very unprofessional and purposefully vague when we asked questions. He left before we could notice the damage. Once we did notice the damage we tried to call the business to rectify the problem. At first they answered and said they’d give a call back soon. They didn’t, so after about an hour we gave a call back. This is when they started to ignore and dodge our phone calls. Now we are left with a damaged door that we will have to pay for ourselves and fix on top of the $224 cost for the service. Additionally, when we finally were able to reach someone, we found that the individual that completed the service lied on his report and claimed to have presented the options we had as a means to open the door - which did not happen whatsoever. This business had no reasons or good answers to any of the questions we asked and kept saying “I don’t know” and then when asked if we could escalate/speak to a manager he was very wishy washy on if he even had one. He also couldn’t provide more info on the business such as the email they claim they would email us from. This business entirely should not even be labeled a business but a scam!

I also cannot upload the receipt or the photos of the damage. Can I share them to an email?

On 1/28/2025 I called this locksmith out to ******* ******* mall in ********** at around 4pm. They would not give me a quote and said he would "assess the situation." When he got here, he would not give me an amount until after he unlocked my **** *** *******. After he unlocked it, he not only noticeably damaged my door to the point it will not close all the way anymore but proceeded to charge me $348. I recently visited a KeyMe kiosk in ******** ** to get copies of my keys made. I went through the process and at the end it said they would have to ship my keys.

They keys were shipped but KeyMe did not insure them. Now they are lost between *** and usps and KeyMe. *** has informed me that KeyMe must open the investigation since they used mail innovations a low cost carrier. I am appalled that something as sensitive as a key to someone’s house was sent without insurance and that KeyMe is refusing to even open an investigation to find the item. There could be someone now with keys to my house and also with my address which is terrifying especially because I live in the city and jeopardizes the safety and security of my family.

This is a irresponsible business practice of KeyMe and they have failed to take even minor steps to make it right.

The company is offering to reimburse the cost of my keys and is refusing to open a claim with *** which *** says is required because they shipped it via a low cost carrier Mail Innovations through *** without insurance. The concern I have here is for the safety of my home and family. It is not an acceptable business practice to send such a sensitive item this way and they need to do what they can to ensure the package is located. I spoke with a supervisor at *** who even tried to reach out to KeyMe to open the claim as only the shipper is able to do so. If the keys cannot be located, KeyMe should offer to replace my home locks free of charge as this is a result of their negligence in bad business practices.

I called a local KeyMe on 11/27 as I was locked out of my house. The man who answered said that a locksmith would contact me soon and provide a quote. The locksmith called and refused to provide a quote. He and two other guys showed up in an unmarked vehicle and said that it would be an easy fix. He fiddled with the lock and then said he could not get it open and would need to drill it out. Eventually, they got in. He finally provided me with the quote and it was $380! He and the other two guys then made me pay on a sketchy website and I felt intimidated to leave a tip. The price was far above normal and it feels like a scam. Very unprofessional
