I am a provider and this company does not make patient care communication easy at all. Portal needs to be accessible for any provider to look for an auth. It does not show auths unless user has obtained them. Secondly, communicating via phone can give you the auth number, but not the valid dates. Once a representative who cannot understand English answers your call, they ask unnecessary questions i.e. patient's address after you've provided auth # and member ID #. And they still cannot provide the valid dates. I have more to say about their website, but I've already wasted too much time on this.

      1. Offices listed in directory are not valid, either do not accept Humana, or not current. There response: Dentists can go in and out of network from time to time. Are they willing to change their sources? At first, no they hung up on me. I was trying to help them by letting them know that certain dentists were not available. I called back and they said they will make a note of it. Then said they would update it asap. Then THEY reached out to three dentists on their list that all failed. Then expected me to call everyone on the list until I found one that would accept. Further may it be known, that in the beginning of the year I had spent many hours finding a doctor that was current and did accept their plan. Once again, doctors were not at that office any longer or had retired or simply did not accept Humana.
      2. Calls unable to connect, or I get hung up on. Spend more time on hold listening to their wonderful calming music. They gave me their apologies.

I called humana today because I got a new card in the mail & starting this week I started to get all these co pays which never happened before. I spoke with pearline first and explained my situation on how I have some terminal illnesses going on and she spoke with me with such respect and dignity and then transferred me to Cheyenne in benefits. I told Cheyenne that lately I've been getting all these co-pays that I never got before and had questions which she answered them all. I'm not going to go into detail but I just want to say we spoke for a while as if we were friends but it was professional! I say friends because she was so empathetic with what I've been through and she is calling each and every place that has charged me a copay and getting me reimbursements!
This is so imperative to me because I've been fighting for my life since January and trying to get doctors to listen to me and very ill and just trying to do everything on my own and just for somebody to take the wheel and offer to help me is beyond what I expected!
These two customer representatives are an asset to Humana and it needs to be acknowledged to the top of the company!

Humana violates it's own policies by denying coverages clearly stated in their policies manual. They violate State laws in regards to prescriptions and also coerce doctors to give alternative plans or medication that is cheaper or not adequate to solve issues. Humana also violates HIPPA by releasing medical information on myself to a third party without my consent in writing. Humana denies coverages denies preauthorizations and medication despite the orders of doctors and pharmacists. Every state Attorney General should be investigating Humana Healthcare insurance and their affiliates. They sell your information without your consent to non medical services and to other third parties.

Most incompetent customer service I’ve ever dealt with in my life. They’ve spelled my name wrong on my ID card and can’t seem to fix it. I spoke to five different people and will have to cancel my eye exam appt because no one can figure it out. They double charged me for months and it took several calls to get them to stop and refund me. They keep giving me the incorrect member ID number and then the next person I’ll speak to claims that the last one is wrong. Last year I had a dental policy with them and I would get exorbitant bills months later for services I was assured they would cover. Their website is horrible and I can’t even access my vision policy on it. I’m starting to think it’s an intentional way to scam people by collecting premiums for services made impossible to render. Scam. Whatever you do, don’t sign up with Humana.

My husband passed away 01/01/2020. I have now received a billing notice from Humana in the amount of $6.92. This billing is supposedly for adjustments to his TROOP accumulations. These prescriptions were purchased between March and August of 2018. I paid for these prescriptions, left the pharmacy and was unaware that I could be charged additional amounts FOUR YEARS later!
How can this be legal? Why would a large company like this have the right to wait 4 years to correct an error on their part? Does this mean that any company can charge extra for completed purchases years later?
I think this is absolutely horrendous business behavior. Is there nothing the BBB can do about this behavior?

It is very simple if you want endless wait times, uninformed personnel that are selectively deaf, grievances that wantonly go unanswered with appeals never furthered because of the careless affirmative actions of those same callous service specialists. Than this is the healthcare you need.
