I purchased a GE front load washer (model ************* ****** *********) on November 13, 2023. At just over 18 months old, the washer began shutting off a few seconds after pressing Start. It powers on and allows cycle selection, but then turns off completely — making it unusable.
This appears to be a known and recurring defect, commonly linked to the door lock assembly or user interface board, based on numerous reports from other GE customers. I contacted GE Support, but was not offered any assistance, even though this is a premature failure of a high-cost appliance.
While the unit is now out of standard 1-year warranty, this type of failure is not typical wear and tear and should qualify for goodwill coverage or repair support under GE’s product reliability policies.
I am requesting:
Coverage under any service bulletins, known defect programs, or goodwill policies,
Discounted or free replacement of the failed components,
Or escalation to a resolution team that can assist with premature product failure.
I expected better quality from GE and ask that this issue be handled fairly.Business Response

Since January, I have been communicating with GE Consumer Relations back and forth. The oven unit that I currently have is not functioning properly. They have sent out 6-7 technicians, and they have not been able to repair the unit. The technicians have informed me verbally that the unit is non-repairable. They have also told me that the way this unit functions is not what I was looking for. If I had been informed about this before making my purchase, I would never have purchased this unit. The unit does not cook my food properly in the oven. The heat is not dispersed evenly. It also features a “stem clean” function to clean the oven, which does not work correctly. It calls for 1/2 cup of water that is supposed to evaporate and create condensation in the oven, allowing it to be wiped clean, but it does not do this. It does not get hot enough, the water does not even evaporate, and there is no condensation. I am seeking assistance and a replacement. The stove is only seven months old and is still under warranty for one year. I have also purchased GE appliances; the stove before this was also a GE model, as well as my refrigerator and dishwasher. I hope that the appropriate actions will be taken to rectify the situation by replacing the unit with a different GE model.Business Response

We purchased a new ***** ****** home on 5/12/25 and the new GE dishwasher failed after after 3 uses within the first week. GE sent a 3rd party contractor to review the machine and discovered the main circuit board failed. They have no ETA on the replacement part and GEs 800 is joke.Business Response

Bought a refrigerator from **** ****** (Brand GE). Upon receiving fridge, it made a rattling noise, set up appliance repair (that was the first trip). Then fridge stopped cooling (second repair)..then condensor died (third trip)..GE refuses to replace the applicance. Won't give a date for further repair..have to wait until July sometime. Currently have food in a cooler. No one is really listening from GE or ******** *their appliance repair service). Gave me a case number and then suspended the case because it was resolved. It is not resolved, I don't have working applicance, no date for repair, no replacement coming. We are at our wits end. Going to have to buy a new applicance and toss the almost 700.00 we spent of the "lemon"..I have to talked to multiple people. All they want to do is send us 100.00 gift cards to replace food..Not resolve the issue. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and **** ***** said it is GEs problem because I contacted them also. This complaint is about general electric dishwasher serial number ********* product number ************ This is actually my second complaint on the Better Business Bureau website about this issue. I’ve had this dishwasher since November 2024. The racks have rusted not just spots, but have rusted through the protective sealant they put on it. the first time I called about the bottom rack the person I talked to was very kind and sent me a replacement bottom rack. When I called about the top rack, the person I talked to was very rude and was telling me that GE doesn’t replace parts based on cosmetic look. I asked since when is rust and rusting through from the inside a cosmetic look it causes a health issue after going back-and-forth with her. finally gave up and called the next day. talked to somebody and then they reluctantly sent me a replacement rack for the top of the dishwasher That part after giving them the serial number and the part number multiple times I was sent the wrong part. It’s too big and too wide, so I guess what I’m trying to say here is GE which was once a great company who valued their customers and made a quality product seem to not care anymore my mother, who just bought a dishwasher is having multiple issues with and is getting ready to send it back and buy another brand. Wanted was a replacement rack that fit my dishwasher properly because my dishwasher is still within warranty. They say it’s hard water. I would agree with that but not after eight months of owning the machine maybe after five years just their excuse of not wanting to give their customers the best service. Luck to anybody who buys a GE product pray it doesn’t break down cause they’ll give you a hard time. That’s my experience to have calledthem multiple times giving them the part number and the serial number multiple times for them to keep sending me the wrong rack is unsatisfactoryBusiness Response

GE fridge was purchased a little over four years ago.The issue I was having with the freezer was still covered by the manufacture warranty. They sent someone out on five occasions each time they left they said it was fixed. Four people have been out here a total of five times,stated it was fixed each time and it wasn’t.This started in April. Now they tell me I have to get a new one on my own. I am a new home owner of 1 year. The GE gas stove model *********** ****** ********* was installed and came with our home purchase. The first year we had numerous service calls due to gas leaks. After GE Technician came out, multiple issues were found that needed replacing, the builder replaced the appliance with a new one, same GE model. We are having the same issues of gas leaks with this new stove as well. I have attempted to co n tact GE via Email, Chat and 2 different service call numbers listed on the GE web site but numbers don't work, Chat is not available and emails have not been responded to.Business Response

I purchased a portable air conditioner on sale. When setting up, one of the window pieces were missing . I emailed Haier on numerous occasions After submitting receipt, I was told since I purchased air conditioner at sale price I would have to purchase the piece, which is over $50.00. I find this unacceptable as it shouldn't matter if it was on sale.
I would like to have this piece as it adapts the window opening to allow for exhaust.

I purchased a GE Cafe double drawer dishwasher Model ************ from ****** on Dec 1, 2024. It operated fine until May 21st, 2025. It became inoperable and unresponsive, with all lights flashing and beeping despite troubleshooting steps recommended by GE. I called GE Cafe service ********** and they assigned the service to a local third party appliance repair company* ******** who came out on May 27th, ordered a part, and I waited for weeks. On June 15th, after I made several weekly follow-up calls* ******** said ***** attempted to deliver the part on June 3rd - 5th. I was so frustrated they did not communicate this to me earlier, and they did not have any actionable next steps. I called back GE Cafe service ********** for help on June 17th, and they re-assigned to another third party "Certified Appliance Care", who then e-mailed me on June 18th that they do not service that specific model, and I should talk to GE Service ********** again. On June 18th, over multiple phone calls to GE Cafe Service **********, I spent several hours and was ultimately transferred to the Consumer Relations department, which I was told oversees the service department. The representative told me they would have to put in a "Locating Servicer" request and wait 72 business hours before taking any additional steps. I expressed my frustration that I have been waiting for service for close to a month, and still have no actionable next steps to get this unit repaired. I expressed that I would like the unit simply replaced as I seem to have no other remedy and that I should not have to personally chase down the repair people for GE Cafe service to honor the warranty. The representative ********* suggested that I find an alternative method of washing the dishes until they were able to resolve this. I also received an email from Tiffany stating that I could find my own certified repair company and would be re-imburseable up to $250 but parts would not be covered. This is how a 5 week old $800 washer has cost us $1,455 (so far) since 4/6/25 with ZERO resolution. "********** GE's 14 month old "concierge appliance service" has capable staff forced to implement outrageous policies.
I purchased a new 4.5 cu. ft. GE washing machine through ****** on 4/6/25 for about $800 with $86 extended warranty. On May 14th it stop spinning. Repairs needed rescheduling due to catastrophic road collapse on 80. I repeatedly asked for a different tech 2x from a closer area. They said no. ******** recorded our personal details, date and location of purchase, order number, etc.
An excellent tech from a third party company came 3X from over 2 hours away. Dude. No one closer? This is North Jersey! He replaced latch assembly, main board and other electronics, and water pump between 5/14-5/26. ****** wouldn't take it back without a return authorization from GE.
After 13 days of back and forth, they screwed up my contact information which hadn't changed. I called several times. They said to wait for email. I asked them to call not email, they said no. After no washer for 5 weeks, I got one second hand. I felt certain they would take this piece of trash back and return my money.
NOPE.
I TOLD ******** SEVERAL TIMES: I have a serious blood disorder. I'm battling side effects from a separate major cancer, late stage chronic Lyme and autoimmunity. I have lugged over $250 worth of laundry to another town and paid $250 + $80 truck for a used Maytag. I get incredibly sick when exposed to strong fragrances in public laundromats. Im dealing with massive events, poor health, autistic kid NO CLEAN LAUNDRY. I'm not asking a favor. I'm requesting reasonableness.
******** will not escalate my case until I accept a fourth visit. I have to bring the washer back into the basement down a lot of steps, reinstall or else the tech won't touch it.
