I had a loan with republic finance in new albany mississippi, it was not in default, I paid the loan off early, it was post marked June 13th and the payment was not due until July 1st. I had this $250 payment set up to be automatically withdrawn from my banking account. Paid in full over a week in advance... another payment was withdrawn from my account causing my account to be over drawn and myself charged with an overdraft fee of $36.00. When I called republic finance and brought this to their attention the first response I received was that I could come into their buisness location and get a refund whenever I wanted. The second response I got was that they couldn't issue my refund until the 27 of July and they're only sending me $192 of the $250 (+ $36.00 over draft)the withdrew from my account.Business Response

I'm not liable for this debt with Republic Finance. It was sold to another party and was settled. They did not provide me with the original contract and Republic Finance needs to remove it's tag from my credit report. My next course of action will be to take this up with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.Business Response

Dear BBB Complaint Department:
Thank you for
your correspondence dated July 11, 2023. It is our goal at Republic Finance,
LLC (“Republic Finance”) to provide excellent service and we
welcome the opportunity to address the concerns of our customers. Please allow
this to serve as Republic Finance’s response to case #20304333. As requested by the BBB guidelines, we have

of this response. Instead, we refer to the consumer as “the Consumer.”
Republic
Finance immediately reviewed the Consumer’s statements made therein. Under the
Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), Republic Finance is obligated to
investigate credit disputes that are complete and meet certain
requirements. According to the FCRA, a
dispute notice is complete when it is submitted in writing directly to the creditor
(i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and
includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in
dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account
number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation
of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or
information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy
of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly inaccurate
information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a court
order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined the Consumer’s
credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the three
afore-mentioned requirements. If the Consumer
has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth above, she
is welcomed to submit a complete dispute notice directly to: Republic Finance,
LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite 100, Baton Rouge,
LA 70809-1394. Upon receipt of the Consumer’s
complete dispute notice, Republic Finance will investigate the dispute, correct
any inaccuracies that may be discovered, and report back to him.

you have any questions or additional information, please feel free to contact
me.

I am experiencing a financial hardship and requested that this company turn off my autopay. Which they obliged, with my last payment being made to them in February 2023. I am currently working with ******** **** ****** and making payments to them in order to settle my outstanding debt.
On 06/14/2023 I logged into my bank account to see a $220 charge from Republic Finance. I contact my banking institution which advised me that the charge was a debit card transaction.
I have not spoken with Republic Finance since February/March 2023, when I requested to have the autopay cancelled. ******** **** ****** advises not to contact any debtors and allow them [NDR] to. When I was on autopay it was ACH, not through my debit card.
I don't understand how a company can take it upon themselves to charge an account without authorization, specifically using a POS transaction. This is a Regulation E violation, and the company should be fined for unsavory business practices.Business Response

I took out a loan with Republic Finance in 2018. I defaulted on payments for over a year. I then started working with a debt consolidation company and resumed payments again. After not finding the debt consolidation company beneficial I withdrew and contacted Republic directly to settle the account. They said I had legal proceedings active and they couldn’t help. I informed I never received any of the paperwork they were referring to as I had moved twice and no longer lived at the same address. I called several more times during various months and continued to her the same response.
Today I called and a representative told me the same thing, they couldn’t help but she said she’d connect me to the branch that I did the loan through I spoke with Conner the Roswell branch manager and asked for a settlement and told him I was willing to pay 2,000 today to have it closed and deleted. He advised me he would have to get an RVP approval for that amount and he would call me back in an hour. 4 hours went by so I called the branch back and was advised the manager had left for the day and he wouldn’t be back until Tuesday. I just want to settle the account and be done. I’ve never had to chase a company down like this just to finally pay them. I want these resolved immediately so I can move on and be done.Business Response
