Dear BBB Complaint Department:
Thank you for
your correspondence dated December 27, 2022. It is our goal at Republic
Finance, LLC (“Republic Finance”) to provide excellent service
and we welcome the opportunity to address the concerns of our customers. Please
allow this to serve as Republic Finance’s response to case #18629432. As requested by the BBB guidelines, we have
left all personal identifying information, including the consumer’s name, out
of this response. Instead, we refer to the consumer as “the Consumer.”
Republic
Finance immediately reviewed the Consumer’s statements made therein. Under the
Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), Republic Finance is obligated to
investigate credit disputes that are complete and meet certain
requirements. According to the FCRA, a
dispute notice is complete when it is submitted in writing directly to the creditor
(i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and
includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in
dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account
number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation
of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or
information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy
of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly inaccurate
information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a court
order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined the Consumer’s
credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the three
afore-mentioned requirements. If the Consumer
has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth above, he
is welcomed to submit a complete dispute notice directly to: Republic Finance,
LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite 100, Baton Rouge,
LA 70809-1394. Upon receipt of the Consumer’s
complete dispute notice, Republic Finance will investigate the dispute, correct
any inaccuracies that may be discovered, and report back to him.
If
you have any questions or additional information, please feel free to contact
me.

I enrolled my loan with National Debt Relief in order to consolidate and pay off some debt I gained through COVID times. The loan is enrolled. The debt relief company has POA for negotiation for this loan. It has been enrolled in the program for about 5 months. As of December I am getting multiple daily phone calls , being harassed and being harassed at work. I have sent letters, emails notifying the company that I have enrolled the loan into the debt relief program. Still they continue to call me and talk to my coworkers. This is not acceptable and a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. The National Debt Relief company had advised me to send the letter to them listing their contact information and the attorney who represents clients like myself to them. It has been sent.Business Response

I took out a small loan of approximately $1500 over a year and a half ago. When I called the company last spring to use their automated service to see how much I still owed it stated $250. I then started to notice the company was automatically debiting my account two to three times a month towards the end of what should have been paid in full. I decided to log into their website. It stated not only was I behind in payments but my total due was $1859.63. I added up my payments according to what Republic Finance says I had paid which totaled $2018.06. That means out of the $2018.06 I have paid on the loan, only $158.43 had been applied to the loan. I also noticed that randomly, my automated payments would be returned. I believe that is how they scam you and put your status as delinquent and overcharge you as well as put you further behind on interest so they can continue to charge you payments. From all the complaints on this site, I believe a class action lawsuit would benefit everyone. You can sign paperwork but you can't sign your rights away if a company is in the wrong.Business Response

On 12/1/2022 at 8:59 am EST, I called this business to make a payment of $306. I had previously spoken to a rep regarding my situation as my Husband had emergency surgery and was in the hospital recently for 3 days. My Husband could have died. I got a moment today to try and call to make the payment as I know it was late. Instead of allowing me to make my payment, show empathy and great customer service, I felt belittled, humiliated and enraged about the level of service provided by "*******. Never in my career have I had anyone so rude. I understand the the need for collections however that does not excuse the level of customer service being provided to customers and not having any lack of empathy regarding the situation. I definitely had me boiling as I have been through a traumatic experience that I wish no one has to endure and in doing so my tone and verbiage was unacceptable and out of the ordinary for me. Even in doing so- had she not what I like to call " poke the bear" I wouldn't have reacted the way I did which I shouldn't have at all. I did speak to the branch manager Lacy (Lacie unsure of the spelling) and she was able to take my payment for this month and next month which was never the problem at all. The customer service was the issue. I would like the Reginonal to contact me directly, have ****** written up and never be able to speak to another customer let alone touch my account anymore. Collections is not a bad business. What makes collections terrible are those hired who either lack training, empathy ( understanding) and customer service skills. You can still collect money without being a terrible person.Business Response

I've been working with Republic for almost a year now. Never late or missed any payments. In late September early October I noticed that the auto system hadn't taken my payment on the 3rd as arranged so I attempted to do it through the phone prompt only to realize it wasn't loading or working. I called the local office and was told they were aware of the problem and I just needed to wait and it would automatically pull it. October 6th still nothing so I called again and did a debit card payment with the local office. I was told by the manager that if I paid him $6 dollars that day it would take care of any late fees, I made it very clear I was not to be held liable for their mistake. I also asked the manager to take me off auto system and I would make my payments. October 31 I made Nov payment. Then I start getting late fee notices, phone calls and I ended up contacting corporate to which I had to file 2 complaints two months in a row. Last week I got yet ANOTHER late fee charge saying my November payment was declined for NSF and I have my bank records showing payment submitted and received. I was told someone from customer escalation would be calling me and today is the 11th day with no phone call. I'm filing a civil suit and filing a complaint with the secretary of State. I'm not paying another dime until this is resolved.Business Response

I have had an account with Republic Finance for years. In April I called and updated my employer information including employer phone number. When I was last on a payment (completely forgotten on my part) Republic posted the late payment to my credit report after never trying to contact me at my new job. When I called to have this corrected I was told that there was no notes in their system of my call. They had other calls noted but not the one where I updated my phone numbers so that they were able to reach me.Business Response

Dear BBB Complaint Department:
Thank you for
your correspondence dated November 11, 2022. It is our goal at Republic
Finance, LLC (“Republic Finance”) to provide excellent service
and we welcome the opportunity to address the concerns of our customers. Please

left all personal identifying information, including the consumer’s name, out
of this response.
(i.e., not through a private, non-profit organization such as the BBB) and
includes the following: (1) sufficient information to identify the account in
dispute (e.g., consumer's full name, address, telephone number, and account
number); (2) the specific information that is being disputed and an explanation
of the basis for the dispute; and (3) all supporting documentation or
information to substantiate the dispute, to the extent available (e.g., a copy
of the relevant portion of the consumer report that contains the allegedly
inaccurate information, a police report, a fraud or identity theft affidavit, a
court order, or account statements). Therefore, Republic Finance has determined
the Consumer’s credit dispute is incomplete because it does not meet all of the
three afore-mentioned requirements. If the
Consumer has any additional information to satisfy the requirements set forth
above, she is welcomed to submit a complete dispute notice directly to:
Republic Finance, LLC, Attn: Credit Dispute Team, 7031 Commerce Circle, Suite
100, Baton Rouge, LA 70809-1394. Upon
receipt of the Consumer’s complete dispute notice, Republic Finance will
investigate the dispute, correct any inaccuracies that may be discovered, and
report back to her.

I opened a loan with Republic Finance and paid the first payment back online after setting it up. After the first payment the website stopped working, I attempted to reach out to them to tell about this with no resolution. I had to pay a late fee due to this, there several more complaints about this and I’m fairly certain that this is the way they do business. They let you open the account, pay your first payment and then shut down the website to incur late charges.Business Response

I am rejecting this response:Better Business Bureau (BBB), thank you for providing a response to my complaint from Regional Finance, LLC “Regional Finance”, (Company). However, I do not accept nor agree to the response from the Company. Yes, I filed a complaint with the BBB and the Consumer Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Regional Finance has received my complaints but has failed to take corrective actions nor acknowledge their wrongdoing. The Company knows or should know that inaccurate credit reporting is not acceptable business practice. I do not accept Regional Finance, LLC response because the correction to my payment history still has not been made.
The purpose of my complaint with BBB is have the Company correct my payment history, which I have NEVER been late. Again, something is wrong when a company arbitrary in October change a June payment from paid on time to “Late”. Not once has this Company notified me to give a rationale for this change.
The purpose of my compliant with the CFPB to highlight the business practices of Regional Finance, LLC’s violation of consumers under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Sincerely,
“Consumer”

Why choose a BBB Accredited Business?BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.
BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.
When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
