Monday, July 24, **** I leased a Zipcar for 24 hours. From 6:00 AM Saturday, July 22 until 6:00 AM Sunday, July 23.1.When I first entered the car, it appeared clean; so, I clicked 5/5 for Cleanliness.2.About 6 hours into my trip, I noticed pet hairs on the back seat and took two photos of the seats and reported them at that time.3.I returned the car Saturday evening, July 22 at about 7:15PM with a full tank of gas . almost 11 hours before it was due and clicked on End Trip.4.Today, Monday, July24, I received a notice that another member reported the interior of the car was quite dirty (pet hair). As you should be aware of our expectations and Community Rules, you are being charged $50 to offset the cost of the cleaning.5.This is total nonsense. I am being penalized for not reporting the pet hair immediately upon entering the car?6.I dont have a pet and if I did why in the world would I report my own violation of the Community Rules? What other option did I have after noticing the pet hair later during my trip? Not report it and hope some other driver down the line gets blamed for it?Did the person who rent the car take a picture of the pet hairs? Who rented the car before I did?7. I paid $221.07 for the 10-hour use of that car and got charged a cleaning fee for pet hair that I myself reported.I have been a Zipcar member for 15 years. Last three digits XXX949 of my membership card.************************* ************* ** *****

My encounter with Zipcar on July 8, 2023, was a complete disaster. I had reserved a car from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, hoping for a smooth experience, but it turned into a nightmare. The car I received was filthy with food, dirt, and cigarillo remnants. Exiting the parking garage was a hassle due to the missing parking card, causing a 10+ minute delay. The car's nauseating smell made the ride unbearable.Despite returning the car at 12:08 PM, only eight minutes late due to the initial delay, I was charged extra. **************** offered just 30 minutes and $20 credit, which was unsatisfactory.Worse still, a $50 late fee and $8 extra hour charge were imposed. When I asked for a refund, I was told it was against their policy. Zipcar failed to take responsibility for my horrendous experience.I had hoped that Zipcar would take responsibility for their mistakes and take measures to prevent such experiences for future customers, but unfortunately, that was not the case. As a result, I am left with a profoundly negative impression of the company and their services.

At first I thought that zipcar was the best thing since sliced bread. Until I had an incident. The day before I got paid, they tried to charge my card $111, and it did not go through. So the next day when I got paid, I immediately tried to resolve the request for the funds on the app. I had more than enough to cover the $111, plus I was willing to pay another $129, for an extension of another 24 hours.I had already had the vehicle for 3 days, spending $129 per day. I called them to resolve everything and pay all of it. They told me that I had tried to push the card through to many times, and that zipcar had locked my account. I spent 3 hours on the phone with these people not understanding why that they couldnt just charge the card, and I extend the vehicle. They told me that I had to return the car, and wait 3-5 business days so that my account can be reviewed. I was so upset, they ruined my whole day after I have spent THOUSANDS with this company. The only one that helped me , and was empathetic to my situation was ******, who is called *****. The technical support lady was ABSOLUTELY no help, This was a MAJOR inconvenience for me, and I am so disappointed in zipcar for treating me like this, when the funds were more than available. I WILL NOT RENT from them again, and I am going to let EVERYONE know how they treated me after spending thousands with this company.!!!

On June 20, 2023 Unhappy with the way they went about canceling my membership stating I didnt return the car when the car was returned at its location & charged $50 late fee as well. Email was sent until my spam re: the issue I tried to get my account back customer service wasnt helpful stated email was sent I replied back took over week or two to respond back to my response. And they wouldnt reopen my membership this is the email I get. I get this response: activity that was deemed disruptive to the Zipcar community. To limit further impact to our members, we have closed your account. In order for car-sharing to be successful, each and every member must comply with the community rules so that all members can have successful and enjoyable trips. We understand this news may not be pleasant to receive, but please be aware that this decision is final and cannot be reversed. If you have any questions or concerns you can respond directly to this email. We have canceled and refunded any future reservations. We hope you continue to seek out other sustainable means of transportation in the future This is unacceptable as Ive always returned the car on good condition & on time

I have been a Zipcar membership for over 12 years and charged autopay monthly EVP (Extra Value Plan) membership flat fee of $125. The amount of the membership goes directly towards the payment of a Zipcar when reserved. This has been the practice since I first became an EVP monthly member in 2010.In 2021, Zipcar upgraded their datebase system that has cause a nightmare with my monthly credits were not recognized nor could it be applied to reserve a car. It took 2 years to fix that technical issue. Now, in Apr 2023, without any email or account notice, my monthly membership fee is being taxed for City, State and Local tax, adding another $14 charge to my Zipcar autopay monthly membership.I contacted Zipcar regarding this and told them that the policy state, "Taxes are automatically calculated and charged at the time a booking is made. Only applicable taxes will be charged to your booking" But now, I am being charged the taxes for the monthly membership and requested to send me the statement where it exactly states that starting in Apr 2023, my monthly EVP membership will be taxed, along with being taxed again when I reserved a car. I repeatedlty told them AT THEM TIME A BOOKING IS MADE TAXES ARE CHARGED, but am being taxed for the monthly membership that never happened before, and that $125 amount is use as payment as driving credits, to reserve a car, then taxed. Their reply has been a run-around without giving me a detailed answer to where it states in the policy that "EVP are being charged taxes each month to their monthly membership", then charge taxes again when booking to reserve a Zipcar.I need this to be clear and show me where in their policy it states taxes are now charged for monthly membership, since I am now being charged an extra $14 that is tax on my monthly EVP membership.

On June 22, I booked a car to pick up in ********, ** at 2:30pm with a 5:30 pm return. The interior of the vehicle was covered with stains, smudges, crumbs, dirt and who knows whatever else on the seats and floors, both front and back. It was disgusting. Im pretty sure the car has NEVER been sanitized, let alone cleaned. Close to 5:00pm, I opted to extend the rental by 30 minutes due to traffic. There happened to be an event at the Hockey area and after waiting in line to park, I had to explain to the lot attendant that I would not pay the $20 event parking free since I was returning a car share to its parking space. That took **** minutes. Once I pulled into the actual parking space, I double checked that I had all my personal belongings and took the required 6 exterior pictures, which took 3-5 minutes. After returning to my hotel, I see I was charged a late fee of $50. When I called customer service to ask about the $50 they just repeated the line that it was a huge inconvenience to the next customer when people return cars late. I explained that the car was at the gate to the lot by 6:00pm and in the parking space by 6:10pm. The representative asked why I did not call them at that very moment to inform them of what happened. After waiting in line and arguing with the parking attendant, the last thing I thought about doing was calling Zipcar for being **** minutes late. GPS would have confirmed that the car was at the lot by the return time. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was just transferred to another representative and had to go through the whole situation again. He told me there could be nothing done to return the $50 free and there was no one else I could talk to that could do anything for me. No attempt was made to address the issue of the car being parked in a lot that was not easily accessible. Terrible experience. I immediately canceled my membership. I would have been better off paying the the $20 event parking fee.

I have had too many negative encounters with ***. This time was unbearable. I arrived to a vehicle yesterday morning (6/21/23)with my newborn to a car with a flat tire. They reassure me there's another vehicle nearby. Also, their rep assured me I would receive a full refund and no charge for the new vehicle due to this major inconvenience. I check my bank account just because and I see another charge from them for a HIGHER amount. I TRULY HATE BEING LIED TO. I would not have an issue if I was told I would be paying for a new ride. I confirmed multiple times with their rep about the refund and about the payment of the new trip. I was informed my refund would take 3-5 business days and NO I would NOT be paying for the new trip. Those were my specific questions. Why LIE? So I call back to speak again with a rep that say they will refund me the difference! The difference?!?! I was astounded at their incredulous behavior. She was unwavering so I asked to speak to someone who could refund me my money back. At this point, the rental has only been out for a few hours. I informed them it could be returned in that moment because I wanted my money back. They tell me that's not a possibility of getting my money back. They can't just give out free rides. But could offer me credit. CREDIT?!? THEIR IDEA OF CREDIT IS EVEN MORE HILARIOUS THAN THEIR HELP. Zipcar should be dismantled.! The reservation prior to this one was even more crazy. The car was literally not there!! Yet they were able to to track it and tell me it was the down the street. Something needs to be down about this. They don't offer nearly enough in credit to accommodate the inconveniences these lousy rentals cause. How can you not know a vehicle was not returned? How can you have it available for someone to rent and you KNOW it's not been returned. How can you rent a car with a f****** flat!! How?!? The rep heard my newborn crying in the back and still no compensation for loyal customers. It's horrendous and sad.

I recently had a truly unpleasant experience with Zipcar and feel compelled to share my frustration. The company's claim of providing convenient car-sharing services seemed promising, but my encounter with them quickly turned into a regretful affair.First and foremost, Zipcar's deceptive practices are exemplified by their exorbitant $25 non-refundable application fee. This fee, already steep for a mere application, felt like nothing short of a money-making scheme. I was under the impression that it would be utilized for legitimate screening purposes. However, my experience suggests otherwise. After diligently filling out the application and submitting the required documentation, it rejected my application without any valid explanation, leaving me perplexed and frustrated. Their only intention it seems is to collect the $25 application fee. If a non-** license is invalid, it should have been mentioned. After entering my license details, the system should not have allowed me to activate my membership. This experience left me feeling cheated and used. It's evident that they prioritize profit over customer satisfaction and do not value the trust placed on them by prospective members. In light of this disappointing encounter, I strongly advise potential users to exercise caution before engaging with Zipcar. The company's practices not only appear to be spam-like but also demonstrate a disregard for customer service and ethical conduct. There is a good reason that TrueCaller has listed Zipcar's customer care number as "Spam". Save yourself the frustration and explore other car-sharing options that prioritize honesty and genuine customer engagement.

This company will rip you off, it happened once before and I regretfully reactivated my membership for them to rip me off again. I rented the car with intent to keep for 24 hours but for personal reasons I had to extend hourly with hopes the car stays available. After 9 hours and $130 my card keeps declining as I was trying to extend for the final amount to keep the car for 24 hours. I called the bank, no issues there, positive balance and no holds, call zipcar they say its a banking issue. Pretty much didnt want to hear nothing I had to say and was ready to come tow it, I simply called because I wanted them to take the money I needed the car. I had to return the car after I spent my last $130 with them to have a car for a job that I ended up not being able to do because I had to return the car. Youd think they offer me some type of credit or usage of the car after $130 especially when they say they offer you the best rate after so many hours. Feels like they just robbed me Im so sick.
